HONOR has taken a significant leap in advancing youth-focused digital development with the launch of the AI + Youth Empowerment Society (AYES) at the inaugural HONOR AI + Design Summit 2025 (APAC Edition) in Malaysia. Positioned as a major milestone in strengthening AI literacy across the Asia-Pacific region, the initiative underscores the company’s commitment to equipping young people with the skills, creativity, and readiness needed to thrive in an increasingly AI-driven world.

With more than 700 million young people living in APAC, the digital skills gap remains a pressing challenge. AYES aims to close this gap by uniting a powerful coalition of 25 founding members, comprising government agencies, universities, and industry leaders. Key partners include Malaysia’s National AI Office, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), China’s Central Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore’s Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, and GSMA APAC. As the primary driving force behind the initiative, HONOR will oversee coordination and programme development to ensure impactful, region-wide implementation.

According to Martin Xu, Senior Vice President of HONOR, the initiative represents more than a technological effort—it is an investment in the region’s future. Xu emphasized that empowering young people with AI and digital capabilities is crucial to driving economic growth and sustaining innovation across APAC. He also highlighted HONOR’s long-standing dedication to nurturing creative youth through initiatives like the HONOR Talents Design Competition, which has attracted over 35,000 creators from more than 40 countries.

Xu further noted that the Asia-Pacific region remains a strategic growth partner for HONOR, and the company is committed to accelerating regional digital transformation through an open AI ecosystem. By promoting productivity, cross-industry innovation, and inclusive progress, HONOR envisions a future where AI and design synergize to uplift local talent and contribute to long-term development.

The launch event drew over 200 scholars, industry experts, and young creators, along with tech media partners Amanz, Zing Gadget, and TechNave. The summit served as a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange, collaborative discussions, and the exploration of solutions tailored to meet the region’s evolving digital needs.

In a highlight of the event, HONOR presented its first AYES Outstanding Contribution Award to renowned Malaysian designer Joseph Foo, recognising his influential role in championing youth empowerment and creative education. Through workshops, the HONOR Global Design Summit, and the Alpha Technology & Art Tour, Foo has mentored and inspired more than 10,000 young creators across APAC.

The establishment of AYES marks a pivotal moment for the region, positioning HONOR at the forefront of youth-centric AI education and creative empowerment. As the initiative expands, it is set to play a transformative role in shaping the next generation of APAC talent poised to lead the future of AI, design, and digital innovation.

Tontawan Tantivejakul, celebrated for her standout role in How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies, has been honored with the FPA Asia-Pacific Rising Icon Award at the 62nd Asia-Pacific Film Festival, joining fellow recipient Syafiq Kyle.

Thai breakout sensation Tontawan Tantivejakul has been announced as the latest recipient of the FPA Asia-Pacific Rising Icon Award, joining Malaysian actor Syafiq Kyle, who was revealed earlier this year as a fellow honouree. Both rising stars will receive their awards at the 62nd Asia-Pacific Film Festival (APFF) Awards Night, set to take place on 6 December 2025 at Auditorium Bandaraya, Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur.

Tontawan, fondly known as Tu Tontawan, has quickly become one of Southeast Asia’s most talked-about young actors. Her meteoric rise was propelled by the phenomenal success of the Thai family dramedy How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies, which became one of the region’s biggest box-office hits of 2024–2025. Her heartfelt and nuanced performance in the film earned widespread acclaim, capturing audiences across Asia and cementing her reputation as one of the most promising new faces in regional cinema.

This year’s APFF Rising Icon selections shine a spotlight on two dynamic talents symbolising the new wave of cinematic excellence in the Asia-Pacific. Tontawan represents Thailand’s growing influence in the international film landscape, celebrated for her emotional depth and expanding global reach. The festival continues its longstanding mission of honouring excellence in filmmaking while fostering cross-cultural collaboration and celebrating the diverse voices of the Asia-Pacific.

  • AZIMAT

    AZIMAT

  • IJN University College and Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris Form Strategic Partnership to Launch Bachelor of Psychology (Hons) Programme

IJN University College and Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris Form Strategic Partnership to Launch Bachelor of Psychology (Hons) Programme

IJN University College (IJNUC) has taken a significant step in expanding its academic offerings by signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), establishing a strategic partnership to offer the Bachelor of Psychology (Hons) programme. The collaboration marks a shared commitment by both institutions to strengthen academic excellence and address the growing importance of psychology within Malaysia’s healthcare sector.

Under the agreement, UPSI will serve as the awarding body for the degree, while IJNUC will lead programme delivery. Leveraging its strong academic foundation and clinically immersive learning environment, IJNUC aims to produce psychology graduates who embody competence, compassion, and industry readiness. The MoA was formalised through the signing ceremony between Prof. Emerita Durrishah Idrus, Vice-Chancellor of IJNUC, and Prof. Dato’ Dr. Md Amin bin Md Taff, Vice-Chancellor of UPSI.

Prof. Emerita Durrishah emphasised that the partnership is aligned with IJNUC’s ongoing efforts to broaden its academic portfolio beyond the traditional clinical sciences. She highlighted the crucial role psychology plays in healthcare, noting that understanding human behaviour and mental wellness is essential for holistic patient care. “This collaboration with UPSI opens an exciting new chapter for IJNUC. Psychology is deeply intertwined with healthcare, as understanding human behaviour and mental wellness is crucial in treating patients holistically. By combining IJNUC’s strengths in healthcare education with UPSI’s academic excellence, we are preparing future professionals who can serve with both competence and compassion, a vital balance in today’s healthcare landscape,” she said.

Echoing this sentiment, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Md Amin bin Md Taff noted that the initiative underscores UPSI’s mission to broaden its impact through partnerships that connect academic knowledge with real-world applications. He highlighted the timeliness of integrating psychology into healthcare as Malaysia continues to prioritise mental health and emotional well-being. “UPSI is proud to work alongside IJNUC in nurturing graduates who not only possess psychological knowledge but also the ability to apply it effectively within healthcare settings. This initiative is a step forward in producing a new generation of psychologists who are ready to contribute meaningfully to society,” he added.

The Bachelor of Psychology (Hons) programme will offer students a multidisciplinary curriculum that blends theoretical knowledge, clinical exposure, and hands-on learning within healthcare environments. This integrated approach will strengthen their understanding of psychological dimensions in patient care and better prepare them for diverse professional pathways across the health, education, and community sectors.

The signing of the MoA represents another important milestone in IJNUC’s journey to advance healthcare education through strategic collaborations with reputable institutions. It reinforces the institution’s role as a leading centre for teaching, research, and professional development in Malaysia. Pending approval from the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), the programme is expected to welcome its first cohort in September 2025.
