In a landmark event for collegiate esports in Southeast Asia, the NU Bulldogs from the Philippines have emerged victorious in the inaugural Galaxy Gaming Academy x Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Campus Series 2025, hosted by Samsung and MOONTON Games. The historic inter-country tournament concluded in dramatic fashion at Taman Anggrek Mall, Jakarta, drawing elite student talent and a US$40,000 prize pool.
The NU Bulldogs outshone eight of the region’s strongest university teams from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and the Philippines, securing the championship title and taking home the grand prize of US$18,000.
“Taking home the championship title is beyond what we imagined,” said Patrick Balanquit, coach of the NU Bulldogs. “Playing against Southeast Asia’s best has elevated our game. This tournament shows that campus esports is ready for the spotlight and we’re proud to lead the way.”
First runners up: FAITH NOVUS Bravehearts team from the Philippines.
Second place went to fellow Filipino squad FAITH NOVUS Bravehearts (US$8,000), while Indonesia’s VL Team secured third place and US$5,000.
A Milestone for Campus Esports in Southeast Asia
The Galaxy Gaming Academy x MLBB Campus Series 2025 (GGA x MCS) is the first-ever inter-country campus tournament for MLBB, reflecting a rising tide of competitive gaming among university students in the region. The three-month tournament began with over 1,000 registered teams and progressed through national qualifiers before culminating in the cross-national grand finals held from June 20-22 in Jakarta.

In an exciting blend of sportsmanship and city pride, Kuala Lumpur Tower hosted its first-ever Penalty Shootout Tournament on Saturday, 29 June 2025, from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the scenic Tower Terrace. The high-energy event drew over 100 teams from across the Klang Valley, kicking off a new tradition under one of Malaysia’s most iconic landmarks.
Divided into two crowd-favorite categories – Futsal Sharp Shooter and Netball Shootout – the tournament offered participants a fun and competitive platform to showcase their skills, all for an affordable entry fee of RM50 per team (5 pax).
A festive atmosphere filled the Tower grounds as teams competed for the top spots. Winners in both categories took home cash prizes and exclusive Kuala Lumpur Tower Combo Tickets. First place winners received RM2,000 and five Combo Tickets, second place RM1,000 and five Combo Tickets, third place RM500 and five Combo Tickets, and fourth place RM300 and five Combo Tickets.
