    Sempena sambutan Hari Naik Tangga Kebangsaan pada 14 Januari 2026, PNB Merdeka Ventures Sdn. Berhad (PNBMV) meraikan hari tersebut dengan menjemput Juara Dunia Larian Menara, Soh Wai Ching, untuk mengetuai pendakian ke puncak atau spire Menara Merdeka 118. Menara setinggi 678.9 meter ini menampilkan puncak menara setinggi 160 meter, dan pendakian tersebut disertai 20 peserta termasuk Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif PNBMV, Dato’ Ir. Ts. Izwan Ibrahim, barisan ketua jabatan serta beberapa pemegang taruh utama di presint Merdeka 118.

    Dato’ Izwan Ibrahim berkata bahawa di Merdeka 118, setiap kemajuan bermula dengan satu langkah. Pendakian bersama Soh Wai Ching mencerminkan semangat disiplin, ketahanan dan usaha berpasukan yang diterapkan oleh PNBMV. Beliau turut menyatakan keterujaannya untuk mengalu-alukan pengunjung ke The View at 118, dek pemerhatian tertinggi di Asia Tenggara yang bakal dibuka pada suku ketiga 2026.

    Stadium Merdeka menjadi tumpuan hari ini apabila PNB Merdeka Ventures Sdn. Bhd. (PNBMV) menganjurkan perlawanan bola sepak persahabatan bersama Jabatan Perdana Menteri (Hal Ehwal Agama). Suasana perlawanan bertambah meriah dengan penyertaan YB Senator Dr. Zulkifli Hasan, Menteri di Jabatan Perdana Menteri (Hal Ehwal Agama), selain kehadiran YM Raja Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Arshad bin Raja Tun Uda, Pengerusi Kumpulan PNB.

    Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif PNB Merdeka Ventures, Dato’ Ir. Ts. Izwan Ibrahim yang turut beraksi sebagai pemain sayap kanan berkata bahawa pihaknya komited untuk memastikan Stadium Merdeka terus kekal sebagai ruang komuniti yang aktif serta mampu menyatukan masyarakat, bukan sekadar dikenang melalui sejarah sukan.   • China Medical System Achieves NDA Approval for First-in-Class Vitiligo Therapy in China

    China Medical System Holdings Limited (CMS) has announced that its subsidiary, Dermavon Holdings Limited, has received New Drug Application (NDA) approval from the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) of China for ruxolitinib phosphate cream for the treatment of non-segmental vitiligo. This approval grants Dermavon full regulatory authorisation to commercialise the product across Mainland China. The cream is a selective JAK1/JAK2 inhibitor and is currently the first and only drug approved by both the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Medicines Agency (EMA) for repigmentation in non-segmental vitiligo.

    Vitiligo remains a significant unmet medical need in China, with an estimated 10.3 million patients, including approximately 8.2 million with the non-segmental form. As the first targeted treatment approved in China for this condition, the product represents a major milestone in addressing a long-standing treatment gap. Clinical data from two overseas Phase III studies met their primary endpoints, with 29.9% of patients achieving F-VASI 75 after 24 weeks of treatment, significantly higher than placebo groups. Continued treatment for up to 52 weeks demonstrated sustained repigmentation. Real-world data in China further confirmed consistent efficacy, with secondary endpoints aligning with the primary outcomes and showing continued improvement over time.

    In addition, the Phase III clinical trial in China for ruxolitinib phosphate cream in the treatment of mild to moderate atopic dermatitis has shown positive results, and CMS is actively advancing the NDA process for this indication. The product is part of a collaboration and licensing agreement signed with Incyte in December 2022, under which CMS obtained exclusive rights to develop, register and commercialise the product across Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and eleven Southeast Asian countries, along with non-exclusive manufacturing rights in the region.

    Since beginning independent operations in 2021, Dermavon has demonstrated strong growth momentum and established a leading position in China’s skin health sector. To further unlock its value and growth potential, CMS has proposed a spin-off and separate listing of Dermavon on the Main Board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. This reflects CMS’s successful transition towards an innovation-driven business model focused on developing and commercialising first-in-class and best-in-class therapies.

    To date, CMS has built a portfolio of approximately 40 innovative products, with six already approved for marketing in China. Supported by a strong and optimised pipeline of innovative and exclusive drugs, the Group is well positioned to sustain its growth momentum.   • Toyota Eco Youth 2026 Kicks Off with Hands-On Learning and Nationwide Participation

    UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT), in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, has officially launched the Toyota Eco Youth (TEY) 2026 programme, beginning with a two-day workshop held from 30 to 31 March, followed by its official opening at Wyndham Acmar, Klang. Earlier this year, the programme received an encouraging response nationwide, with 327 submissions from secondary schools across Malaysia. This strong participation highlights the growing interest among students in tackling environmental challenges within their communities.

    Now celebrating its 25th edition, Toyota Eco Youth has grown into a well-established national initiative aimed at nurturing environmental awareness while encouraging students aged 13 to 16 to develop practical solutions to real-world issues. Participants are guided to identify local environmental problems and address them using Toyota’s structured problem-solving approach. According to Datuk Ravindran K., President of UMW Toyota Motor, the programme goes beyond theoretical learning by equipping students with essential skills, confidence, and mentorship. It provides them with the opportunity to turn their ideas into impactful projects that can create meaningful change within their communities.

    From the total submissions, 30 schools have been selected to move forward into the workshop and project implementation phase. Each school will receive a RM3,000 grant, contributing to a total of RM90,000 in funding to support their initiatives. This hands-on approach reflects TEY’s focus on experiential learning, allowing students to test and refine their ideas in real-life settings.

    In addition, TEY 2026 offers RM80,000 in prize money, bringing the total programme allocation to RM170,000. The top three winners will receive RM30,000, RM20,000, and RM10,000 respectively. Throughout the workshop, students and their teacher-advisors are provided with guidance and mentorship to strengthen their project plans, set clear implementation strategies, and monitor progress effectively. This phase emphasises collaboration, creativity, and a strong sense of environmental responsibility.

    Following evaluations and progress reviews, the top 15 schools will advance to the final stage at the TEY 2026 Convention and Exhibition, scheduled to take place from 2 to 4 November 2026, where they will compete for the main awards. Toyota Eco Youth continues to play an important role in inspiring young Malaysians to become proactive environmental leaders by offering structured support, hands-on experience, and recognition for their efforts in driving sustainable change.

    Menstruation is a natural and healthy part of life, yet period poverty remains a pressing public health and human rights issue that continues to affect millions globally, including in Malaysia. Defined as the lack of access to menstrual products, proper hygiene facilities, and accurate menstrual education, period poverty goes beyond affordability—it reflects deeper systemic gaps in infrastructure, awareness, and social attitudes. Despite growing conversations around gender equality and health, menstruation is still shrouded in stigma, leaving many girls and women to manage their periods in silence and without adequate support.

    Globally, access to proper sanitation remains a significant barrier. Less than half of schools provide the basic water and sanitation facilities necessary for menstrual hygiene, and many lack appropriate disposal systems for menstrual waste. This creates not only logistical challenges but also emotional distress, as girls often feel embarrassed or ashamed managing their periods in school environments that are not equipped to support them. The consequences are far-reaching: an estimated 10% of menstruating youth miss school due to inadequate access to menstrual hygiene resources. This disruption in education can have long-term effects on confidence, academic performance, and future opportunities.

    Cultural taboos further compound the issue. In many communities, menstruation is still considered a private or even shameful topic. Girls are often taught to keep their periods secret, while boys are rarely educated about it, reinforcing cycles of misunderstanding and stigma. This silence prevents menstruation from being recognised as the normal biological process it is and contributes to a lack of open dialogue both at home and in schools. As a result, many young people grow up without the knowledge or confidence to manage menstrual health safely and with dignity.

    In Malaysia, however, community-driven initiatives are beginning to challenge these norms and provide practical solutions. Campaigns like “Haid, Jangan Hide” by the All Women’s Action Society (AWAM) are reframing menstruation as a topic of dignity and empowerment. Through workshops and peer-led education, the initiative creates safe spaces for women and girls to learn about their bodies and speak openly without fear of judgment. Similarly, grassroots efforts such as Projek Oh! Bulan are addressing period poverty at the ground level by distributing sanitary products to students in rural schools, ensuring that no girl has to miss class simply because she cannot afford basic necessities.

    At the same time, there is increasing awareness of the environmental impact of menstrual products. Disposable pads, which can take hundreds of years to decompose and often contain a high percentage of plastic, contribute significantly to long-term waste. Sustainable alternatives such as reusable cloth pads, menstrual cups, and period underwear are gaining traction as cost-effective and environmentally friendly options. When supported by proper education on usage and hygiene, these alternatives can empower users while reducing financial strain and environmental harm.

    While these community initiatives are inspiring, they cannot solve the issue alone. Government intervention is essential to create lasting, nationwide change. Malaysia has already taken a positive step by removing taxes on menstrual products, but affordability is only one piece of the puzzle. A comprehensive national policy is needed—one that recognises menstrual health as a fundamental component of public health and gender equality. This includes providing free sanitary products in schools, implementing mandatory menstrual education for all genders, and ensuring that all public facilities are equipped with clean water, soap, and proper disposal systems.

    Equally important is the need for data-driven policymaking. Without accurate national data on the scope of period poverty, it is difficult to design targeted and effective interventions. Research and consistent monitoring can help policymakers better understand who is most affected and where resources are needed most. By addressing these gaps, Malaysia can move closer to ensuring that every individual has access to safe, dignified menstrual care.

    Ultimately, period poverty is not just about access to pads—it is about equality, health, and opportunity. No girl should have to sacrifice her education or well-being because of a natural biological process. As Malaysia strives toward becoming a high-income nation and achieving its Sustainable Development Goals, addressing period poverty must be part of the national agenda. Menstrual care is not a luxury—it is a basic human right. The time to break the silence and take meaningful action is now.
