    KLP48 Launches 2nd Generation “BLOOM” Auditions to Discover Malaysia’s Next Idols

    A new era of Malaysian pop stardom is set to unfold. Following a remarkable debut year that has captivated fans locally and abroad, KLP48, the Kuala Lumpur-based sister group of Japan’s iconic AKB48, is now calling for auditions for its 2nd generation members under the inspiring theme, “BLOOM.”

    As the Malaysian arm of the Guinness World Record-holding AKB48, now in its 20th year, KLP48 aims to nurture a new wave of multi-talented young performers to join its growing legacy. The “BLOOM” auditions promise a chance for passionate individuals to blossom into idols under one of Asia’s most recognisable entertainment brands.

    Applications are open from 1 July to 1 August 2025, and the audition is open to females aged 13 to 23 of all nationalities. Aspiring candidates must submit a 90-second audition video showcasing their singing and/or dancing abilities through the official audition portal: klp48audition.com.

    Shortlisted applicants will be contacted for an on-site screening in Kuala Lumpur on 23 and 24 August, followed by the final audition round on 6 and 7 September.

    Mercedes-Benz Malaysia today unveils the all-new Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology, a fully electric reimagination of the brand’s most iconic off-roader. With this launch, the legendary G-Class enters a bold new era, blending heritage design with cutting-edge electric performance, while staying true to the rugged DNA that has defined it for generations.

    Designed with four independently controlled electric motors and a massive 116 kWh battery, the G 580 delivers a total system output of 432 kW (587 hp) and an impressive 1,164 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.7 seconds and achieves a top speed of 180 km/h. But speed is just one aspect of its capabilities. With intelligent torque vectoring, the G 580 brings a new dimension to off-road control, enabling extraordinary precision across even the most challenging terrains.

    Speaking at the launch, Amanda Zhang, CEO and President of Mercedes-Benz Malaysia, expressed that the electric G-Class marks a turning point for the brand. “At Mercedes-Benz, we are committed to shaping the future of mobility through innovation, performance, and sustainability. The all-new electric G-Class is a bold expression of this vision, reimagining an icon while staying true to the values that define our brand.”

    Nadia Trimmel, Vice President of Marketing and Sales, added, “With the all-new Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology, we are offering our customers a fully electric off-road experience without compromise. It brings together advanced features like G-TURN, G-STEERING, and up to 473 km of range, all while maintaining the timeless presence and power of the G-Class.”

    The electric drive system features four motors positioned near each wheel, creating the first production vehicle from Mercedes-Benz with individual-wheel drive. This allows the G 580 to precisely channel power to each wheel in real-time, giving it unrivaled traction and control. It also enables remarkable features such as the G-TURN, which allows the vehicle to rotate nearly in place, and G-STEERING, which drastically reduces turning radius on difficult terrain. The intelligent off-road crawl function further enhances driving control by automatically maintaining low, consistent speeds ideal for rock crawling or deep mud.

    The battery, which offers a usable capacity of 116 kWh, is integrated within a robust steel ladder frame. Engineered to endure extreme conditions, it is protected from water and dirt and contributes to the vehicle’s low center of gravity and structural rigidity. The G 580 supports both AC and DC charging, with up to 11 kW charging on AC and 200 kW DC fast charging capabilities, allowing a 10 to 80 percent charge in just 32 minutes.

    On the interior, the G 580 offers the same level of craftsmanship and luxury that Mercedes-Benz is known for. Nappa leather, ambient lighting, a Burmester 3D surround sound system, and advanced infotainment via the MBUX system all come standard. The new OFFROAD COCKPIT interface gives drivers real-time information on terrain, torque distribution, and off-road navigation, while the Transparent Bonnet feature, enabled by the 360° camera system, provides a virtual view of the ground beneath the vehicle ideal for navigating blind crests or unseen obstacles.

    Design-wise, the electric G-Class stays true to its legacy. Its unmistakable boxy shape, iconic door handles, round headlights, and robust stance are retained, while subtle aerodynamic enhancements such as new A-pillar cladding and spoiler lips improve efficiency. The black-panel grille with LED lighting signatures adds a futuristic edge, while 20-inch AMG wheels and adaptive MULTIBEAM LED headlights enhance its on-road presence.

    A limited special edition, known as the Edition One, marks the debut of the electric G-Class. It features exclusive MANUFAKTUR paint finishes, blue-accented carbon fibre trim, blue brake calipers, and signature “G – Stronger Than Time” illuminated door projections. Inside, the Edition One boasts silver pearl and black nappa leather upholstery with contrast stitching, as well as blue detailing that echoes the electric theme.

    The all-new Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology is priced from RM 958,888, while the exclusive Edition One is priced from RM 998,888. Both prices are for Peninsular Malaysia and include a 10% sales tax and a wallbox charger with installation.

    Hard Rock Cafe Genting Highlands has joined over 100 Hard Rock locations worldwide in launching the highly anticipated World Burger Tour 2025, a global culinary competition showcasing culturally inspired burgers created by Hard Rock chefs around the globe. Running from June 14 through August 4, this year’s tour introduces a lineup of unique, locally rooted burger creations including the all-new Sky High Burger from Genting Highlands.

    Celebrating Hard Rock International’s 54th anniversary, the annual event brings together culinary innovation and cultural pride. In Genting, the Sky High Burger pays tribute to the beloved Malaysian street food icon — the burger Ramli — with a gourmet twist.

    Sky High Burger features two smashed beef patties stacked high and drenched in black pepper sauce, layered with melted red cheddar, a fluffy omelette, crisp lettuce, juicy tomato slices, caramelized onions, and creamy mayo, all nestled between toasted burger buns.

    “This is such a fun annual event where our team gets to flex their creativity,” said Jimmy Wong, General Manager of Hard Rock Cafe Genting Highlands. “The Sky High Burger is a tribute to Malaysia’s street food culture, served with that iconic Hard Rock flair.”

    A Culinary World Tour – With Local Stories on Every Plate

    This year’s World Burger Tour introduces a new dimension with the addition of Olivia Tiedemann, acclaimed chef and digital creator, as both mentor and judge. Tiedemann worked directly with participating chefs, offering insights and guidance in developing their signature burgers.

    Samsung Levels Up Phone Security with New Anti-Theft Features

    In response to the growing issue of phone theft worldwide, Samsung is encouraging all Galaxy users to activate new anti-theft features now available through the latest One UI 7 update. These enhancements are part of Samsung’s ongoing commitment to smarter, stronger device protection empowering users to stay in control, even in high-risk situations.

    The One UI 7 update, which first launched with the Galaxy S25 series in February, is now rolling out to more Galaxy devices throughout the year, including the Galaxy S24 series, Z Fold6, Z Flip6, Z Fold5, Z Flip5, S23 and S22 series.

    A key highlight of this update is the introduction of Theft Protection, a multi-layered security suite designed to safeguard personal data even if a device is stolen. It enhances existing Android protections by addressing complex scenarios where access credentials may have been exposed.

    Among the upgraded features is Theft Detection Lock, which uses motion sensing powered by AI to detect theft-like movements such as snatching, automatically locking the screen to prevent unauthorized access. Offline Device Lock ensures the phone locks itself when disconnected from a network for an extended period. Remote Lock allows users to secure their device using just their phone number and a quick verification step, even if their account has been compromised.

    New anti-robbery features included in One UI 7 are Identity Check and Security Delay. Identity Check adds a protective layer in unfamiliar locations by requiring biometric authentication to access or change key security settings, especially when a PIN may be compromised. Security Delay introduces a one-hour waiting period if an attempt is made to reset biometric data, giving users critical time to remotely secure their phone from another device.

    Samsung advises users to enable these settings as soon as possible, ensuring stronger control in the event of theft or loss.

    In the unfortunate event that a Samsung Galaxy device is stolen, users can take the following steps. First, they can remotely lock their device by signing into Samsung Find, selecting Lost Mode, setting a PIN, and confirming their identity. A custom message can also be displayed on the locked screen.

    If recovery isn’t possible, users may remotely erase data by selecting the Erase Data option via the Samsung Find website. This will permanently delete all personal content, including Samsung Pay details, and reset the phone. Users are advised to regularly back up data to the cloud for easy restoration to a new device.

    It’s also recommended to change Samsung and Google account passwords immediately via their respective websites to prevent further access. This step logs out those accounts from all other connected devices.

    Users can track their phone through Samsung Find, which shows the last known location if the device is connected to Wi-Fi or mobile data. Additional tools like ringing the device, activating power-saving mode, and real-time tracking updates can also help increase the chances of recovery.

    Galaxy Watch and Buds users can also locate their devices through the Galaxy Wearable app or watch interface. Google’s Find My Device is another useful platform for Android users with a Google account, allowing them to ring, lock, or erase their devices.

    After taking these digital security steps, users should report the theft to the police and obtain an official incident report. It’s also important to notify the mobile network provider to suspend the SIM card and prevent misuse.
