LG’s advanced Ice Solution addresses high ice consumption among Asian consumers, offering four ice options, including Craft Ice™, Crushed, Cubed and Mini Craft Ice, suitable for both daily use and entertainment.
For dishwashing solutions, LG’s latest dishwasher features an exclusive one-hour wash-and-dry cycle. QuadWash™ Pro uses four spray arms with high-pressure water jets and microbubbles to clean dishes from multiple angles, while Dynamic Heat Dry+ enhances drying performance through moisture-absorbing technology to produce warm, dry air efficiently. Notably, A-grade energy efficiency is achieved across key models spanning both premium and mainstream segments. For Southeast Asian markets, LG will also introduce a tailored built-in kitchen collection comprising ovens, cooktops and hoods for both B2B and B2C segments. A key highlight is the advanced Camera Oven, which uses an internal camera to identify ingredients and recommend optimal cooking modes while monitoring surface colour to determine ideal doneness.
For the first time at InnoFest, LG is also hosting live commerce sessions for partners in selected markets, creating an interactive sales environment directly from the event floor. Attendees can explore three exhibition zones representing different home environments across Asia, with spatial designs inspired by Korean dramas that have gained strong regional popularity, creating an engaging and familiar experience for partners. Within these zones, LG brings its AI Home vision to life, demonstrating how intelligent technologies enhance everyday living through greater convenience. Powered by the AI Home Hub, ThinQ ON™, LG’s AI-enabled appliances and IoT devices are seamlessly connected to deliver intuitive and integrated home experiences. ThinQ ON has already been launched in its initial market and will be introduced progressively across Asia, starting with Australia and Thailand.
As part of its long-term growth strategy in Asia, LG is also expanding beyond products through the global rollout of LG Subscribe, a flexible subscription service for home appliances. The company is actively developing this model in key urban Asian markets, including Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan, Singapore and Vietnam, offering customers both appliance access and comprehensive product care.
“Asia is one of our most dynamic and important markets, and InnoFest 2026 provides a valuable opportunity to connect with our partners and share our vision for the future,” said Jaeseung Kim, Regional CEO of LG Electronics Asia Pacific. “Building on our technology innovation, we are advancing AI-powered home solutions that reflect local lifestyles.”
SEMICON Southeast Asia (SEMICON SEA) 2026, the region’s premier platform for the global semiconductor and electronics manufacturing supply chain, will return to the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur from 5 to 7 May. Registration is now open.
The event highlights the growing strategic importance of Southeast Asia within the global semiconductor ecosystem, as the region continues to strengthen its role in advanced manufacturing and supply chain resilience. In Malaysia, the event is held in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) and the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), reflecting the country’s continued commitment to strengthening its position in the global semiconductor value chain.
SEMICON SEA 2026, themed Transform Tomorrow, will focus on accelerating next-generation technologies while addressing current structural challenges. It is expected to gather more than 20,000 innovators, policymakers, and technology experts, fostering collaboration across the international semiconductor ecosystem while delivering insights into artificial intelligence, smart manufacturing, sustainability, workforce development, advanced packaging, supplier sourcing, and other key areas.
The global semiconductor industry is projected to reach USD1 trillion in annual sales by 2026, driven by the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence infrastructure. Market analysts note that Southeast Asia has emerged as a significant growth engine for the industry, outperforming the broader market in recent years, supported by sustained expansion in manufacturing capacity, assembly, testing, and packaging activities, as well as deeper integration into global supply chains.
According to Ajit Manocha, President and CEO of SEMI, the semiconductor industry is entering a new era defined by ecosystem-wide collaboration. He noted that SEMICON Southeast Asia reflects this shift through programmes designed to bridge innovation and execution, from design through manufacturing, and expressed SEMI’s anticipation of hosting the event in Malaysia, a long-established semiconductor hub.

Nestlé Malaysia has officially achieved a landmark milestone in its sustainability journey, announcing that 100% of the fresh chillies used in the production of its iconic MAGGI Chilli Sauce are now sourced entirely from local Malaysian farmers.
This achievement was highlighted during an official working visit by the Minister of Economy, YB Tuan Haji Akmal Nasrullah Bin Haji Mohd Nasir, to the IPRINTAN Putrajaya Project. The visit showcased the success of well-structured farmer partnerships in strengthening national food security while simultaneously providing sustainable livelihoods for B40 communities.
A Milestone in Self-Sufficiency and Economic Empowerment
The project is powered by the Nestlé Chilli Club (NCC), a contract farming program established in 1995. Today, the initiative supports farmers across 12 strategic sites in Kelantan, Selangor, Putrajaya, and Johor, spanning 146 acres of farmland.
During the briefing, the Minister was updated on the high-yield farming initiative’s socio-economic impact. Key highlights include:
Income Security: Participating farmers in the IPRINTAN Putrajaya project now earn an average monthly income of approximately RM3,000.
Economic Contribution: The current 2026 cycle (the project’s fifth) has yielded over 200 tonnes of chillies, with an estimated market value of RM1.5 million.
Traceability: By sourcing directly, Nestlé ensures a fully traceable and high-quality supply chain for its locally produced MAGGI products.
Building a Resilient Food System
Mr. Juan Aranols, Chief Executive Officer of Nestlé Malaysia, emphasized that the company’s “Creating Shared Value” (CSV) approach is the driving force behind these partnerships.
“Supporting the livelihoods of local farmers is integral to both our value chain and the nation’s food security agenda. Long-term partnerships with farming communities and government stakeholders, such as our collaboration with IPRINTAN, reflect our shared responsibility to build a more resilient and self-sufficient food system while empowering B40 households,” said Aranols.
Expansion and Regenerative Agriculture
Nestlé Malaysia provides participating farmers with specialized training in eco-friendly regenerative agricultural practices. This modern approach focuses on soil health and farm productivity, ensuring sustainable yields for generations to come.
Originally established in Kelantan in partnership with Pertubuhan Peladang Kawasan (PPK) Bukit Awang, the program expanded to Selangor in 2021 via PPK Kuala Langat. In 2025, the initiative advanced further with a specialized greenhouse project in collaboration with Chin Siam Chiap (CSS) Johor, ensuring a stable, year-round supply of fresh chillies.
Broader Impact: The Farmer Connect Programme
The success of the Nestlé Chilli Club is a cornerstone of the broader Farmer Connect initiative. This program supports hundreds of farmers across various commodities nationwide:
Kedah and Perlis: Sustainable rice cultivation and agronomy support.
Sabah and Sarawak: Responsible cocoa sourcing in collaboration with the Malaysian Cocoa Board.
Kelantan and Kedah: Dedicated coffee farming programs in Gua Musang and surrounding areas.
By integrating locally grown ingredients directly into its manufacturing value chain, Nestlé Malaysia continues to provide consistent market access and long-term capacity building for Malaysian smallholders, paving the way for a more sustainable and food-secure future.

The International Café and Beverage Show (ICBS) 2026 returns for its 5th edition from 7 to 9 May at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, bringing together a dynamic global community under one roof. Over the three-day event, ICBS is expected to welcome 650 brands, 1,000 baristas and 2,000 café owners, with an estimated 13,000 attendees from 55 countries. As Malaysia’s only dedicated café and beverage trade show, ICBS has evolved from a niche industry gathering into a key indicator of the direction café culture is taking in Malaysia and across the wider region.
Organised by Montgomery Asia in partnership with Barista Guild Asia, Eciatto, and HJC Global Tea Fair, ICBS 2026 introduces several new developments that reflect the industry’s rapid evolution. The most notable addition this year is a dedicated tea segment developed with HJC Global Tea Fair, marking a first in the show’s five-year history. This segment brings global tea innovations to the ICBS floor at a time when tea is increasingly moving from a supporting offering to a central feature in modern café menus across Malaysia and the region.
According to Mr Alun Jones, Project Director of Montgomery Asia, ICBS has become a catalyst for Southeast Asia’s beverage economy, serving as a platform where ideas are exchanged, partnerships are formed, and businesses discover new pathways for growth. He added that as the show enters its fifth edition, it not only reflects the industry but actively helps shape it. In 2026, the beverage landscape is more diverse and innovation-driven than ever, with coffee continuing to anchor café culture while speciality tea, ready-to-drink beverages and mixology-inspired concepts gaining strong momentum. ICBS, he noted, is designed to give industry players direct access to these emerging opportunities.
The timing of this growth is significant. Malaysia’s foodservice sector is valued at USD 14.75 billion in 2025 and is projected to reach USD 27.50 billion by 2030, according to industry data. Within this, demand for premium and functional beverages is accelerating, with the ready-to-drink tea segment alone expected to grow by USD 32.4 million between 2025 and 2030. These figures reflect broader shifts in consumer behaviour, including how Malaysians spend, socialise and seek new experiences, with ICBS serving as a key platform for the industry to respond to these changes.
Anchoring the competitive element of the show is the Malaysia Open Coffee Championship (MOCC), which brings together 38 competitors across three categories: the Malaysia Open Brewers Cup, Malaysia Open Latte Art Championship and Malaysia Open Barista Championship. Beyond being a skills showcase, the MOCC functions as a talent pipeline that continues to elevate standards within Malaysia’s barista community.
Alongside these championships, ICBS 2026 will also spotlight Malaysia’s evolving beverage creativity through the Unite Malaysian Taste Challenge 2026. The competition gathers emerging and experienced mixologists to craft story-driven mocktails inspired by Malaysia’s diverse flavour heritage, transforming local ingredients into distinctive expressions of taste. More than a mixology showcase, it reinforces ICBS’s role as a platform where Malaysian concepts take centre stage, offering producers and café operators a meaningful opportunity to present homegrown innovation to both trade and public audiences.
Mr Alun Jones further noted that Malaysia’s café scene has matured significantly over the past decade, moving beyond chain coffee into a landscape defined by independent cafés, speciality roasters and concept-driven spaces, supported by a consumer base that actively seeks out these experiences. He emphasised that ICBS sits at the centre of this ecosystem, not only as an exhibition but as a space where the next wave of ideas in Malaysian café culture often emerges.
Entry to ICBS 2026 is free, with registration now open. The exhibition runs from 7 to 9 May, welcoming trade visitors throughout all three days, while opening to the public on 9 May for visitors to experience the show floor and explore the latest developments in coffee, tea and beverage innovation. More information on ICBS 2026, including exhibition opportunities, partnership enquiries and visitor passes, is available at https://intl-cbs.com/.
