  • Kuala Lumpur Tower Introduces a Fresh Storytelling Mascot Line-Up and Recognises the Winners of the Befriend Kay Elle Design Competition

Kuala Lumpur Tower Introduces a Fresh Storytelling Mascot Line-Up and Recognises the Winners of the Befriend Kay Elle Design Competition

Kuala Lumpur Tower, one of Malaysia’s most recognisable and enduring landmarks, marked a new chapter in creativity and visitor engagement with the unveiling of its first-ever storytelling mascot family. Introduced at the HEMISFERA Luxury Sky Hall, the new characters — Kay Elle, Tawa, Hornbelle, Cik Mak and Puteri Raya — reflect the tower’s evolution as it looks toward the next decade of experiential tourism, cultural programming and community connection. The event also celebrated the winners of the nationwide Befriend Kay Elle Design Competition, which drew nearly 200 imaginative submissions from Malaysians across the country.

For almost 30 years, Kuala Lumpur Tower has stood not only as a beacon on the city’s skyline but as a silent witness to national milestones and a symbol of home for millions. Now, through the mascot family, the tower brings its identity to life in a new, engaging form. Each character embodies a unique element of the tower’s heritage — light, nature, culture, warmth and national pride — offering visitors a fresh lens through which to experience the landmark.

Officiating the ceremony, Mr. Khairil Faizal Hj Othman, Chief Executive Officer of LSH Service Master Sdn. Bhd., shared that the mascots represent more than creative figures; they give voice to the stories the tower has carried for generations. “Kuala Lumpur Tower carries stories that belong to every Malaysian. These mascots bring those stories to life — not as fiction, but as reflections of the tower’s very soul. They honour our past, celebrate our present and help us imagine our future in a way that is meaningful, joyful and uniquely Malaysian,” he said.

Leading the mascot family is Kay Elle, the Spark of the Skyline, inspired by Kuala Lumpur Tower’s iconic night-time glow. Cheerful and full of wonder, she captures the sense of magic that Malaysians feel each time they look up to see the tower illuminated against the cityscape. Accompanying her is Tawa, the Guardian of the Ancient Forest, who represents the 130-million-year-old Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve that surrounds the tower. As a spirited guardian, Tawa symbolises biodiversity, environmental stewardship and the tower’s extraordinary connection to nature.

The Befriend Kay Elle Design Competition added three more characters to the family, selected for their cultural storytelling, strong identity and alignment with Kuala Lumpur Tower’s values. Hornbelle, inspired by the majestic Rhinoceros Hornbill of Sarawak, symbolises unity, strength and the rich heritage of Eastern Malaysia. Cik Mak reflects the warmth and comfort of home, taking creative inspiration from the cultural significance of nasi lemak without portraying it as a food mascot. Completing the lineup is Puteri Raya, the Hibiscus Princess, whose design pays tribute to Malaysia’s national flower through vibrant petals that mirror the tower’s colourful illuminations during national celebrations.

The winning designers — Christelle Siow Zhi Shien (Hornbelle), Nur Aliahsafiyah Atikah Binti Mat Noor (Cik Mak) and Lay Heng Soon (Puteri Raya) — each received RM2,000 in cash, year-long Kuala Lumpur Tower passes, official merchandise sets and the honour of seeing their creations become permanent members of the tower’s identity.

Looking ahead, the mascot family will serve as the cornerstone of Kuala Lumpur Tower’s next phase of engagement initiatives. They will appear in interactive guest activities, school outreach programmes, cultural festivals, national tourism promotions, creative merchandise and digital storytelling efforts. Their introduction also aligns with Malaysia’s broader plans to elevate cultural tourism experiences ahead of Visit Malaysia 2026, reinforcing Kuala Lumpur Tower’s role as a meaningful, dynamic attraction for both local and international travellers.

The event concluded with a lively photo session featuring the mascots, their creators, invited guests and media representatives. Standing together for the first time, the characters symbolised a new era for the landmark — one where architecture meets imagination. With Kay Elle, Tawa, Hornbelle, Cik Mak and Puteri Raya now representing its spirit, Kuala Lumpur Tower steps boldly into the future as a living landmark whose stories are as tall, colourful and enduring as the tower itself.

  • “Terpatri Cinta” Dedah Sisi Mendalam Zara Zya Dalam Bicara Cinta & Keikhlasan

“Terpatri Cinta” Dedah Sisi Mendalam Zara Zya Dalam Bicara Cinta & Keikhlasan

“Terpatri Cinta” bukan sekadar kisah cinta biasa.

  • KLCC Precinct Leads by Example in Sustainable September 2025, Fostering a Liveable and Lovable Community

KLCC Precinct Leads by Example in Sustainable September 2025, Fostering a Liveable and Lovable Community

The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre Business Events Alliance (KLCCBEA) successfully concluded the third edition of Sustainable September under the theme “Liveable and Lovable Precinct,” marking the campaign’s most impactful year since its inception in 2022. The month-long initiative, organised in collaboration with Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), Urbanice Malaysia, and the Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM), brought together more than 1,000 participants from across the KLCC Precinct, partner properties, and the wider community. The event reinforced a strong collective commitment towards shaping Kuala Lumpur into a city that is not only sustainable but also vibrant, healthy, and inclusive.

This year’s campaign recorded remarkable achievements that reflected the growing momentum of the precinct’s sustainability movement. Through various fundraising activities, a total of RM41,000 was successfully raised surpassing the initial target and representing a significant increase from previous years. Precinct employees collectively contributed over 700 volunteering hours, benefitting approximately 2,200 individuals through social and environmental outreach programmes. The precinct’s blood donation drive collected 134 blood bags, while 50 new trees were planted at KLCC Park in collaboration with DBKL and FRIM. Environmental stewardship was further strengthened through the collection of 317 kilograms of waste during International Coastal Clean-Up Day and 200 litres of used cooking oil for recycling. In addition, the campaign encouraged physical wellbeing, with participants collectively accumulating over one million steps throughout the month’s activities.

The campaign was officially launched earlier this month by the Mayor of Kuala Lumpur, YBhg Datuk Dato’ Seri TPr. (Dr.) Maimunah Mohd Sharif, alongside KLCC Holdings Group Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Sr. Mohd. Salem Kailany. The opening event featured a Fun Run, Tree Planting Ceremony, and Zumba in the Park, symbolising the initiative’s core philosophy that sustainability extends beyond environmental preservation to encompass the wellbeing of people and communities.

According to John Burke, Chairman of KLCCBEA, Sustainable September has grown into more than an annual event, it has evolved into a collective movement that embodies the values of the KLCC Precinct and the city at large. “By aligning with DBKL’s vision for a Liveable and Lovable City, and with the expertise of partners like Urbanice Malaysia and FRIM, we’re showing how sustainability can be lived, experienced, and shared,” he said.

Since its introduction in 2022, Sustainable September has evolved from a small-scale collaboration into a precinct-wide model recognised regionally for its innovative and action-driven approach. The campaign continues to unite partners across hospitality, retail, and urban sectors in pursuit of KLCCBEA’s vision of developing a world-class, future-ready, and sustainable precinct at the heart of Kuala Lumpur.

GV12 membawa penonton menelusuri perjalanan muzik dari era 80-an hingga 2000-an, meraikan bintang legenda yang pernah mewarnai industri hiburan serantau.

The event also saw the presence of beloved stars including Diana Danielle, Ruhainies, Elizabeth Tan, and Amelia Henderson, who joined Ham for a shared birthday celebration that added a personal touch to the festivities. Supported by more than 70 corporate sponsors and partners such as Gintell, Vivo, OneCare Wellness, VitaHealth, and Kinohimitsu, the evening was a showcase of unity between the creative and corporate worlds, a synergy that Ham has long advocated for throughout his career.

In his speech, Dato’ Sri Arthur Joseph Kurup commended Ham for his resilience and vision, saying that Adam represents the kind of creative adaptability that Malaysia is proud of. Even in the toughest times, he found ways to keep the industry moving and people employed. His work embodies the spirit of innovation that drives Malaysia’s creative economy forward.

Adam Ham’s journey began in 2000 with a firm belief in what he calls “Clevonomic opportunities,” creative ventures designed to create real value and global impact for Malaysian talent. After graduating from Western Michigan University, he began his career at the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, managing innovation funds before joining the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation, then known as the Multimedia Development Corporation. Under the mentorship of Dato’ Kamil Othman, Ham played a key role in promoting iconic Malaysian titles such as Upin & Ipin, Bola Kampung, Pontianak Harum Sundal Malam, and Legenda Budak Setan at major international festivals, securing co-productions, distribution deals, and putting Malaysia on the global map as a filming destination.

His subsequent tenure at FINAS further solidified his reputation as a creative economy specialist. There, he worked tirelessly to elevate Malaysian films and music at international markets and festivals including NATPE Budapest, formerly known as DISCOP, Sundance, the American Film Market, Marché du Film in Cannes, the Busan International Film Festival, and the MIDEM Music Festival. In 2011, Ham took a bold leap by founding the Global Creative & Media Agency, a platform dedicated to connecting Malaysia’s creative industries with global partners and audiences.

When the pandemic brought the global entertainment industry to a halt, Ham once again proved his adaptability by pivoting towards new opportunities. Rather than waiting for international events to return, he bridged the gap between entertainment and retail, pairing celebrities with brands for commercials, endorsements, and live campaigns that helped sustain both industries during an uncertain period. His deep-rooted commitment to Malaysia and its creative community remained at the heart of everything he did, driving him to build connections that would uplift others and foster shared success.

Reflecting on his evolution, Dato’ Kamil Othman shared that he had watched Adam grow from a young industry executive into a regional connector who never stops building bridges. His passion for linking Malaysia with the world has opened doors for countless creators and entrepreneurs. He truly understands that the creative industry is about people, relationships, and shared growth.

The ASEAN Records recognition is a testament to Ham’s network, which now exceeds 25,000 contacts across the region. Speaking about the honour, Ham said that working across government and private sectors taught him that relationships and trust are everything. Malaysia’s creative community has always been about lifting each other up, and that is what keeps him going.

As he looks toward the future, Adam Ham remains steadfast in his mission to expand regional collaborations, strengthen Malaysia’s creative footprint, and inspire the next generation of industry leaders. His goal is to keep building regional connections, expand creative reach, and leave behind a legacy that empowers others to dream bigger.

The grand celebration was more than just an acknowledgment of a career. It was a tribute to two and a half decades of vision, resilience, and relentless pursuit of excellence. Through every milestone and challenge, Adam Ham continues to embody the spirit of Malaysia’s creative evolution, a testament to how one individual’s passion can unite an entire industry and inspire a nation.
