MusicWerks Studio is thrilled to announce Animenia, a groundbreaking music festival set to captivate audiences and push the boundaries of orchestral performances. Slated for the 27th of July, 2024, Animenia 2024 promises an unforgettable and unique musical experience at Tropicana Gardens Mall Convention Centre.
Animenia founder and accomplished Malaysian songwriter & producer Sharon Paul revealed this exciting news at a press conference and media preview showcase held this morning at the GSC Cinema, Tropicana Gardens Mall.
The festival’s main event features a fusion orchestra, blending classical orchestration with contemporary sounds to create a vibrant and dynamic experience for anime music lovers. Raja Farouk Live (RFL), a 30-piece orchestra comprising emerging musicians from the local anime, cosplay, and gaming scene, will headline the event. Their eclectic mix of compositions bridges traditional and modern instruments, re-imagining beloved anime and game music. Vocal talents include Afir, Leena, Binyun, Delphine, Kaoru, Kazuki, MinRi, Jeii, Rina-Hime, Zie Aun, Fate Feather, Tato Queen, Yonlynn, and Erul Samah.
In addition to the orchestral performances, six J-Rock Tamashi bands will perform throughout the day. The lineup includes L.E.S.S., Tabako Neko, Grand Endeavour, Za Shinsei, Moshi Hoshi, and Ignight.
Festival-goers can enjoy various fun activities, such as a Wasabi Challenge presented by Sakae Sushi, a kids’ cosplay competition, an ACG singing competition, and explore merchandise, arts, and crafts booths from local vendors and creators.
“We are excited to bring this innovative and exhilarating music format to this community,” expressed Paul, who also owns MusicWerks Studio, the organizers of the highly anticipated festival. “Animenia represents the future of anime music, where diverse genres and styles converge to create something truly unique and inspiring. We believe these performances will leave a lasting impression on all who attend,” she added.
The festival’s highlights include innovative musical arrangements, allowing audiences to experience re-imagined classics and brand-new compositions performed with a fusion twist. The orchestra will incorporate traditional instruments like the Er-Hu and Gu-Zheng, showcasing their versatility and creativity.
Focusing on empowering local musicians, the fusion orchestra features talented homegrown musicians from the anime, cosplay, and gaming communities, bringing a wealth of experience and passion for musical experimentation.
The event will incorporate state-of-the-art production in order to feature crisp, clear sound and exciting lighting design, enhancing the overall experience and immersing the audience with the performances.
The music festival will also see Sharon Paul joining the orchestra for an unforgettable collaboration.
The well-attended press conference was followed by a preview showcase by well-known anisong singers MinRi, Rina-Hime and Tato Queen, performing Akuma No Ko from Attack of the Titans and Gunjou, a song inspired by Tsubasa Yamaguchi’s manga Blue Period.
