  • Viva Vertical Celebrates Malaysia’s Growing Presence in Global Aerial Sports

Viva Vertical Celebrates Malaysia’s Growing Presence in Global Aerial Sports

Five Malaysian aerial athletes from Viva Vertical recently represented Malaysia at the Japan Pole & Aerial Sports Championship 2026, achieving an impressive milestone for the country’s growing presence in the international aerial sports community.

Held from 16 to 19 July 2026 in Osaka, Japan, the annual championship welcomed athletes from Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia and China. The Open Division provided an opportunity for international athletes to compete while also serving as a qualifying platform for the World Pole & Aerial Championships (WPAC).

Representing Malaysia, Viva Vertical’s five athletes delivered an outstanding performance by securing five Gold medals and one Silver medal across various categories. Their achievements reflected not only their technical ability but also months of dedication, discipline and preparation leading up to the competition.

Beyond the medals, the championship represented a meaningful step forward for Malaysia’s aerial sports community. International competitions provide local athletes with valuable opportunities to gain exposure, exchange knowledge with athletes from around the world and continue improving the standards of aerial sports in Malaysia.

The journey to the championship involved months of intensive preparation. The athletes balanced rigorous training schedules with their responsibilities as instructors while preparing themselves physically and mentally for the challenges of an international competition.

Competing overseas also required the athletes to adapt to new environments, unfamiliar apparatus, international judging standards and the pressure of performing on a global stage.

Among the participating athletes was Cynthia Wong Yee Ling, who made her international competition debut after previously competing only in Malaysia. Stepping onto the competition floor in Japan marked an important personal milestone, allowing her to build confidence and experience the excitement of representing her country internationally.

“At Viva Vertical, we believe confidence isn’t built on the competition floor; it’s built through every challenge an athlete is willing to take on,” said Nana Shan Liew, Director of Viva Vertical.

“Watching someone like Cynthia represent Malaysia internationally for the very first time was incredibly meaningful. Every experienced athlete was once a first-time competitor. When we create opportunities for our instructors to step onto the global stage, we are not only helping them become better athletes, but also helping them grow as coaches, leaders and role models who can inspire the next generation of aerial athletes in Malaysia.”

As part of its commitment to developing local talent, Viva Vertical supported the participating instructors by covering their competition registration and accommodation in Japan. This support allowed the athletes to focus fully on their performance while gaining the maximum learning experience from the championship.

For Viva Vertical, international competitions are more than just achievements or medals. They are opportunities for continuous growth and learning. Competing alongside athletes from across the region allows Malaysian athletes to benchmark themselves against international standards, exchange ideas and bring new perspectives back to the local aerial community.

The Japan Pole & Aerial Sports Championship 2026 reflects Viva Vertical’s long-term vision of creating opportunities that extend beyond the studio. For nearly two decades, the organisation has played a role in nurturing Malaysia’s aerial arts community through education, performances and coach development.

In 2026, Viva Vertical celebrated its 20th anniversary with the Viva Circus Festival, bringing together performers, athletes and the wider aerial community to celebrate two decades of creativity, growth and achievement.

The festival highlighted the organisation’s ongoing commitment to developing talent, inspiring future generations and strengthening Malaysia’s position within the regional aerial sports community.

“Our vision has always been bigger than the competition itself,” Nana added.

“Every opportunity we create today helps shape the future of aerial sports in Malaysia by developing confident instructors, stronger athletes and a community that continues to inspire one another. That’s the legacy we hope to build.”

As Malaysia’s aerial sports community continues to grow, international participation remains an important pathway for raising standards, nurturing talent and increasing the country’s presence on the global stage.

For Viva Vertical, the journey continues beyond one competition. Through every opportunity to develop athletes, build confidence and inspire others, the organisation continues working towards a stronger future for Malaysian aerial sports.

Kolaborasi DOLLA & F.Hero Curi Tumpuan Menerusi “G.O.A.T”

Selepas penantian selama lapan bulan, kumpulan wanita popular Malaysia, DOLLA, kembali menggegarkan industri muzik dengan single terbaharu berjudul “G.O.A.T”, sebuah kolaborasi bertenaga bersama ikon rap Thailand, F.Hero.

DOLLA Returns Stronger Than Ever with Powerful New Single ‘G.O.A.T’

After an eight-month hiatus, Malaysian girl group DOLLA has made a powerful comeback with their latest single, “G.O.A.T”, a high-energy collaboration featuring Thailand’s rap powerhouse F.Hero. The release marks the beginning of the group’s boldest era yet while highlighting their ambitions to expand across Southeast Asia and the global music scene.

Produced by renowned Norwegian songwriter and producer Audun Agnar Guldbrandsen, known for hit songs including IVE’s “I AM” and “Kitsch”, the track blends polished pop production with commanding rap verses. Co-written alongside Erika Dahlen, Amanda Liedberg, Stian Nyhammer Olsen, and F.Hero, “G.O.A.T” delivers an empowering message about embracing individuality, believing in yourself, and overcoming self-doubt.

The collaboration with F.Hero represents an important milestone for DOLLA as they continue to strengthen their presence in Thailand, one of Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing music markets. F.Hero’s signature charisma and hard-hitting rap style perfectly complement DOLLA’s dynamic vocals, creating a seamless fusion of Malaysian pop and Thai hip-hop.

Speaking about the collaboration, DOLLA shared that working with F.Hero felt like a natural fit because his bold and powerful musical style matched the energy they envisioned for “G.O.A.T”. They explained that while their vocals bring a softer and more feminine touch, F.Hero adds a commanding presence that gives the song an extra layer of intensity and excitement.

Beyond the music, “G.O.A.T” also symbolizes the growing creative exchange between Malaysia and Thailand, introducing DOLLA to a broader audience throughout the region.

The group’s latest era also showcases a striking visual transformation. Moving away from their signature polished glamour, DOLLA embraces a darker, edgier, and more fearless image. From high-fashion styling to cinematic visuals, every creative element reinforces a powerful message that confidence comes from within and does not require validation from others.

According to the members, “G.O.A.T” reflects the confidence they have earned through years of hard work, personal growth, and overcoming challenges. They describe this era as more mature, fearless, and unapologetically bold, revealing a side of DOLLA that is stronger and more willing than ever to take centre stage.

  • Maxim Malaysia Publishes First-Ever Safety and Driver Legalisation Report

Maxim Malaysia Publishes First-Ever Safety and Driver Legalisation Report

Maxim Malaysia has released its safety, customer support and driver legalisation data for the first time, offering greater transparency into how the company manages passenger safety, customer service and regulatory compliance. The report covers the first half of 2026 and provides insights into the platform’s operational performance.

According to the report, safety-related matters accounted for less than 1% of all inquiries received through Maxim Malaysia’s official support channels during the reporting period. This figure represents the proportion of safety-related contacts among all recorded inquiries, indicating that the vast majority of users contacted the company for reasons unrelated to safety.

The company said that safety-related requests are prioritised through an accelerated response process. Maxim’s in-app safety features also include an enhanced SOS function, allowing passengers to quickly alert emergency contacts and share their trip details in case of emergencies.

More than 90% of all customer inquiries were successfully resolved during the reporting period, with over 70% handled within 24 hours. Drivers submitted 61.5% of the total inquiries, while passengers accounted for the remaining 38.5%. Most requests were related to general support, payments, fares, refunds and individual trip issues.

Mohd Hazwan Musley, Director of Maxim Malaysia, said transparency in the e-hailing industry should go beyond business performance. He noted that passengers, drivers and regulators deserve a clear understanding of how safety and service concerns are managed, how quickly the company responds, and the practical measures taken to meet legal and regulatory requirements. He added that the company is publishing these figures for the first time to encourage a more open and evidence-based discussion about the industry.

The report also highlighted the progress of Maxim Malaysia’s driver legalisation programme. The initiative assists drivers in completing the necessary legal procedures, offers compensation for Public Service Vehicle (PSV) licence expenses, and provides support for obtaining Electronic Vehicle Permit (EVP) documentation. The programme is supported by a dedicated team working closely with driving schools.

During the first half of 2026, Maxim Malaysia invested RM2,015,090 in driver compensation and legalisation support. Hundreds of drivers received assistance with PSV and EVP procedures each month. The company reported a 22.5% increase in legalisation activities during the second quarter compared to the first quarter of 2026, with the average completion time ranging from two to three days.

According to Maxim Malaysia, the programme is designed to reduce the financial and administrative challenges faced by drivers while ensuring that all legal and regulatory requirements are fully met.

Maxim Malaysia has been operating in Malaysia since 2019 under the licensing frameworks administered by the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) and the Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (LPKP). The company continues to expand urban and regional mobility services across the country while also carrying out monthly corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives to support communities in need.

By making these figures publicly available, Maxim Malaysia hopes to provide passengers, drivers, regulators and the wider public with a clearer understanding of the company’s approach to safety, customer service and driver legalisation.
