McDonald’s Malaysia Celebrates Educators Nationwide in 9th Annual Teacher’s Day Campaign Special Celebration at Bandar Sri Damansara DT Brings Joy to Nearly 200 Teachers with Performances, Tributes, and Treats

McDonald’s Malaysia continues to honour the nation’s educators with its annual Teacher’s Day campaign, marking the ninth consecutive year of heartfelt celebrations dedicated to those shaping the future of the country. This year’s main event took place at McDonald’s Bandar Sri Damansara Drive-Thru, where close to 200 teachers were given a day to remember, filled with love, laughter, and appreciation.

Teachers from four schools – SJK (C) Damansara, SJK (C) Desa Jaya 2, SMJK Chong Hwa, and Sri Bestari International School – were invited to an uplifting gathering that featured vibrant performances, entertaining activities, surprise celebrity appearances, and of course, McDonald’s signature meals. The event was designed to deliver a festive atmosphere that celebrated the tireless efforts of educators with genuine warmth and gratitude.

“McDonald’s has always been more than just a place to eat – we see ourselves as a space that connects people and communities,” said Dato’ Haji Azmir Jaafar, Managing Director and Local Operating Partner of McDonald’s Malaysia. “Teachers are the backbone of every community. They shape minds, nurture dreams, and build futures. That’s why we’re committed to recognising and celebrating them in meaningful ways.”

The celebration at Bandar Sri Damansara is just one of many appreciation events taking place across Malaysia throughout May 2025. As part of its nationwide Teacher’s Day campaign, McDonald’s Malaysia is engaging with over 300 schools, either by hosting gatherings at its restaurants or visiting the schools themselves. Many McDonald’s outlets are also taking the initiative to reach out to nearby schools to create their own unique celebrations – reinforcing the brand’s close ties to the communities it serves.

In addition to festive events, McDonald’s Malaysia is extending further support by contributing a total of RM40,000 to selected schools nationwide. The funds are designated for upgrading staffrooms – a small yet meaningful gesture aimed at creating a more comfortable working environment for teachers, in recognition of the immense dedication they bring to their roles every day.

Since launching this initiative in 2017, McDonald’s Malaysia has remained unwavering in its support for educators. Past efforts have included the distribution of 500,000 complimentary meal vouchers to teachers in 2019 and 2022. The campaign’s ninth year continues to build on that strong foundation of appreciation and respect for the nation’s unsung heroes.

This initiative is part of Program Komuniti @ McDonald’s, the company’s long-term commitment to community engagement. Through this platform, McDonald’s Malaysia organises over 10,000 community-focused activities annually, including support for families in need, frontliner appreciation events, and educational outreach programmes.

“Teachers are the heartbeat of our neighbourhoods,” Dato’ Haji Azmir added. “We’re incredibly proud to be able to give back to them – not just with meals, but with genuine appreciation and moments of joy that show just how much they matter.”
