KUALA LUMPUR – History was made at Round 6 of the 2026 PETRONAS MAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championship as the LYL International Karting Circuit hosted its inaugural night race on 11 October. Amidst the challenging cooler temperatures and unique circuit lighting conditions, Azroy Hakeem Anuar of Honda Castrol Power1 Yuzy Racing delivered a masterclass performance to claim a hard-fought victory in the premier CP150 category. Starting from pole position after a strong showing in the Shoot Out session, Azroy displayed immense grit and tactical composure. After briefly losing the lead on Lap 13, he fought back brilliantly to cross the finish line with a winning time of 19 minutes 14.971 seconds, establishing a 2.311-second gap over his closest rivals to seal a memorable triumph.
The weekend proved to be an exceptional outing for the Honda Castrol Power1 Yuzy Racing team, which dominated qualifying by locking down the front of the grid with Azroy on pole, Shahrol Syazras Shahrol Yuzy in P2, and Ahmad Darwisy Ahmad Sahir in P3. Darwisy later capped off the team’s stellar weekend performance with a solid fourth-place finish in the main race. Beyond the intense on-track action, the victory held deep personal significance for Azroy, who emotionally dedicated his triumph to the family of the late competitor Farres Putra Mohd Fadhill. Acknowledging his pre-race nerves following difficult experiences in previous rounds, Azroy expressed his gratitude to his team and fellow riders for their unwavering support throughout the landmark weekend.
Joshua Tan, Head of Marketing for Castrol Malaysia, Singapore & Philippines, extended his warm congratulations to the team, highlighting the vital technical partnership between Castrol and Yuzy Racing. He noted that insights gathered from race data and grueling on-track conditions directly contribute to the ongoing development of Castrol Power1 lubricants, ensuring optimal performance both on the track and for everyday motorists. With the momentum from this historic night race firmly on their side, Azroy and the team are already setting their sights on Round 7, scheduled for 17 and 18 October 2026 at the PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit (South), where they aim to extend their winning form.
