    The Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) has made its ninth consecutive appearance at IBTM World Barcelona, showcasing Malaysia as a premier destination for business events. This year’s event, held from 19 to 21 November at Fira Barcelona Gran Via, provides MyCEB with a significant platform to highlight Malaysia’s strengths in innovation, sustainability, and the dynamic evolution of the business events sector.

    Mr. Noor Azlan, Director of Business Development at MyCEB, shared that the bureau’s goal is to further strengthen Malaysia’s position as a top global choice for business events. “IBTM World offers us an opportunity to promote Malaysia’s diverse capabilities to an international audience, forge meaningful connections, and generate business leads that will drive Malaysia’s economic growth. We aim to secure new partnerships, solidify existing ones, and continue building on Malaysia’s reputation in the global business events arena,” he said.

    IBTM World brings together more than 12,000 attendees, including over 2,650 hosted buyers from around the globe. This makes it a prime event for MyCEB and its partners to engage in networking and business development activities. MyCEB’s dedicated pavilion, strategically positioned at the event, is designed to facilitate one-on-one meetings with top international buyers, further expanding Malaysia’s reach and visibility in the global business events sector.

    A key highlight of MyCEB’s participation this year is the launch of the MyTripleE 2.0 Campaign, which took place during the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Malaysia Pavilion. Building on the success of the original campaign, MyTripleE 2.0 introduces three key initiatives: Excel, Elevate, and Enliven. These initiatives are designed to enhance Malaysia’s competitiveness in the business events industry by offering both financial and non-financial support to qualifying applicants. With MyTripleE 2.0, MyCEB aims to engage a wider network of stakeholders and further boost the growth and sustainability of Malaysia’s business events sector.

    In addition to the exhibition, MyCEB also took part in the Meetings Leadership Network Event on 18 November, which included an exclusive Advocacy Policy session marking IBTM’s 20th anniversary. MyCEB’s Head of Delegation, Mr. Noor Azlan, led the discussions, reinforcing MyCEB’s commitment to advancing global industry standards and fostering strategic dialogue within the business events community. This year, MyCEB was also recognized for its ongoing support and significant contributions, earning a place in IBTM’s Loyalty Group.

    MyCEB’s efforts have yielded impressive results since its founding in 2011. By 2019, MyCEB had supported 2,419 business events, attracting nearly 1.94 million delegates and contributing approximately RM14.7 billion to the Malaysian economy. From 2020 to 2023, the bureau further supported 497 business events, bringing in an additional 1.2 million delegates and generating RM4.9 billion in economic impact. These figures highlight MyCEB’s continued success in positioning Malaysia as a key player in the global business events sector.

    Program Santuni MADANI, Sinar Baru Kesejahteraan untuk Warga Emas di Sabak Bernam

    Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) dengan kerjasama Hospital ReGen Rehab telah berjaya menganjurkan satu program komuniti yang penuh bermakna, “Program Satu Pemimpin, Satu Kampung (Santuni MADANI)”, yang diadakan di Pusat Aktiviti Warga Emas, Sabak Bernam, Selangor.

    Program ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan warga emas dengan memupuk semangat komuniti dan mendorong penglibatan aktif dalam pelbagai aktiviti yang dapat memberi impak positif terhadap kehidupan mereka dan komuniti setempat secara keseluruhan.

    Program ini bermula dengan sesi pemeriksaan kesihatan yang menyasarkan sekitar 40 orang warga emas berusia 60 tahun dan ke atas. Di sini, mereka diberikan saringan kesihatan yang menyeluruh, termasuk pemeriksaan untuk mengenal pasti isu-isu kesihatan seperti dementia dan kelemahan fizikal. Program ini memberi peluang kepada warga emas untuk mendapatkan rawatan dan informasi berkaitan kelestarian kesihatan mereka, sekaligus memberi mereka perhatian yang sangat diperlukan dalam menguruskan kesihatan mereka pada usia tua.

    Tan Mei Phing, Pemangku Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif MyCEB, menyatakan bahawa “Program ini adalah satu langkah penting dalam menyokong kesejahteraan warga emas, yang sejajar dengan objektif inisiatif Santuni MADANI. MyCEB berkomitmen untuk memastikan objektif kelangsungan program ini tercapai, memberi peluang kepada warga emas untuk menjalani pemeriksaan kesihatan dan membantu mereka dalam meningkatkan kualiti hidup mereka.” Menurut beliau, program ini juga memainkan peranan dalam memupuk semangat masyarakat setempat untuk bersama-sama menjaga kesejahteraan warga emas.

    Selain sesi pemeriksaan kesihatan, program ini juga memperkenalkan sesi penglibatan komuniti, di mana pemimpin tempatan dan penduduk setempat diberi peluang untuk berbincang mengenai keperluan dan cabaran yang dihadapi oleh komuniti mereka. Melalui perbincangan ini, pemimpin dan masyarakat dapat bekerjasama mencari jalan penyelesaian untuk isu-isu yang dihadapi, seperti akses kepada penjagaan kesihatan yang lebih baik dan sokongan sosial bagi warga emas.

    Profesor Datin Dr. Lydia Abdul Latif, Pakar Perubatan Rehabilitasi dan Ketua Pegawai Perubatan di Hospital ReGen Rehab, turut memberikan pandangannya, berkata: “Program ini tidak hanya memberi saringan kesihatan kepada warga emas tetapi juga berfungsi sebagai platform untuk meningkatkan kesedaran tentang kepentingan penjagaan kesihatan. Risiko isu kesihatan seperti dementia dan kelemahan fizikal amat tinggi dalam kalangan warga emas, dan pemeriksaan awal sangat penting untuk menguruskan masalah ini dengan lebih berkesan. Sesi perbincangan yang diadakan juga memberi peluang kepada pemimpin dan masyarakat untuk merancang tindakan yang boleh diambil bagi meningkatkan taraf hidup dan kesihatan mereka.”

    Program Santuni MADANI juga selaras dengan Matlamat Pembangunan Lestari (SDGs), khususnya SDG 3 mengenai Kesihatan dan Kesejahteraan, SDG 10 mengenai Pengurangan Ketidaksamaan, dan SDG 17 mengenai Perkongsian untuk Matlamat. Melalui usaha ini, kedua-dua MyCEB dan Hospital ReGen Rehab menunjukkan komitmen mereka untuk mewujudkan masyarakat yang lebih inklusif dan berdaya tahan.   • MALAYSIA CONNECTS WITH GLOBAL BUSINESS EVENTS PROFESSIONALS AT IMEX FRANKFURT

    Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) participates in the IMEX Frankfurt tradeshow, taking place from the 14-16 May 2024. Joining the national bureau are 13 co-exhibitors including state tourism and exhibition bureaus, convention centres, hotels and industry players such as Professional Conference Organisers and Destination Management Companies.

    This year represents MyCEB’s 12th appearance in IMEX Frankfurt as the bureau has been a supporter of this show since 2011. In line with the Malaysia Business Events Strategic Marketing Plan 2021 – 2030, MyCEB’s efforts in executing action plans to profile and empower the Malaysian business events industry is curated by undertaking each business events segments relevant to the countries respectively. This year’s participation is also timely and crucial as MyCEB, an agency under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) Malaysia gear up for the promotion of Visit Malaysia Year 2026.

    Showcasing presence at Frankfurt, Germany that is a reputable destination to target the corporates segment, the bureau is exuberant to connect in person with the planners, decision makers and influencers of the business events industry as the tradeshow welcomes over 4,000 expected buyers. The bureau will take this powerful opportunity to push the MyTripleE campaign with the scheduled appointments that prioritise the Automobile, Environment, Pharmaceutical and Science Industry.

    Mr. Azman Haji Tambi Chik, CEO of MyCEB stated, “Our drive to profiling Malaysia as the preferred Business Events destination in Malaysia is unswerving and we continue to provide first-hand information on what is fresh in the country to serve the business events community at every show we are part of, following our roadmap to achieve the Strategic Marketing Plan by the year 2030. Additionally, we are always excited for knowledge exchange and business leads as the Malaysian pavilion continues to be a pull for our audience. Last year, IMEX Frankfurt assisted the Malaysian delegation in collectively booking a staggering 57,700 appointments from 84 countries and we are surely looking to exceed the amount this year”.

    The Malaysian pavilion at A220 will showcase traditional games and offer local cuisines to provide a glimpse of the country to visitors. Furthermore, the Malaysian delegation have scheduled additional activities including a meeting with the Asia Convention Alliance (ACA) on 13 May and a networking reception at the pavilion on the 15 May.

    Additionally, MyCEB held a press conference on the 15 May at the Press Centre, Room Symmetrie 2. The session announced exciting news on plans to strengthen bilateral ties under the MICE/Business Events Community that is currently in the process of being established.

  • MALAYSIA CAPTURES CHINA’S BUSINESS EVENTS MARKET AT IT&CM CHINA 2024

    Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) has made its 11th annual attendance at this year’s Incentive Travel & Conventions Meetings (IT&CM China) 2024, which took place from the 26 – 28 March at the Shanghai Convention & Exhibition Center of International Sourcing (SHCEC).

    With over 600 exhibitors, 12,000 meetings scheduled, and 400 hosted buyers at the tradeshow, the event presented a prime opportunity for MyCEB and 13 of its industry partners to showcase Malaysia’s capabilities while engaging with key stakeholders from China and beyond.

    “Aligning with Malaysia’s strategic tourism goals, we aim to enhance the country’s appeal as a preferred business events destination in the China market and we believe that IT&CM China is the perfect platform for us to solidify our presence in the industry. The China market represents 29% of our market growth and it is an honour to continue welcoming Chinese delegates to Malaysia,” explained Mr. Azman Haji Tambi Chik, CEO of MyCEB.

    This time at IT&CM China, the Malaysian pavilion took the opportunity to present the comprehensive MyTripleE and Subvention programme to key stakeholders and potential clients. Further interacting with booth visitors in a fun and light manner, Team Malaysia offered a taste of Malaysian culture through two engaging activities including batik painting and kain batik sarong tying skills.

    The Malaysian Pavilion heralded Malaysia’s participation in IT&CM with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, graced by the esteemed presence of Mr. Syed Farizal Aminy Syed Mohamad, Consul General of Consulate General of Malaysia, and Ms. Noramanina Muhd Idris, Director of Tourism Malaysia, Shanghai, as the guests of honor. This symbolic occasion beautifully marks Malaysia’s triumphant return to IT&CM Shanghai since 2019.

    Commenting on the robust relationship developed between China and Malaysia over the years, Mr. Azman said that MyCEB presence at this tradeshow is another initiative that exemplifies the Bureau’s continuous efforts in building partnerships. MyCEB has recently signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) with its counterpart in Xiamen, Acmar Marketing Group Sdn. Bhd. to further entrench Malaysia’s potential into the city’s burgeoning MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions) or business events landscape.

    In addition to IT&CM China, MyCEB is also set to conduct a roadshow in the third quarter of 2024 across key cities in China including Guangzhou, Shanghai, Chengdu, and Beijing. This roadshow aims to promote MyTripleE campaign, highlighting Malaysia’s unique offerings in Excel, Elevate, and Enliven for the business events industry.   • MyCEB’s MyCSR RAMADHAN RAYS OF CARE LEAVES LASTING IMPACT AT THE NATIONAL CANCER INSTITUTE

    The conclusion of the 14th instalment of the MyCSR programme, titled “Ramadhan Rays of Care,” was marked by a touching initiative at the National Cancer Institute organised by Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), an agency under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture Malaysia. This event symbolised a significant gesture of empathy and unity during the sacred period of Ramadan.

    The event was part of MyCEB’s ongoing commitment to community engagement, aimed at uplifting the spirits of cancer patients and the medical team at the centre while fostering a sense of unity and support within the community. The visit saw 13 officers from MyCEB distributing gift hampers consisting of healthy snacks to 100 patients and 30 medical practitioners.

    As we conclude the first to many more impactful editions of MyCSR initiatives in 2024, we are deeply moved by the spirit of compassion and solidarity exhibited during this heartwarming event. At MyCEB, we remain committed to our ethos of community engagement, striving to uplift the spirits of those in need and foster a sense of togetherness within our society. This humbling experience has reminded us how fortunate we are to be well and abled, as compared to patients here who are fighting one of life’s toughest battles,” said the Chief Executive Officer of MyCEB, Mr. Azman Haji Tambi Chik

    He continued, “We are here to show our support, physically and mentally to let them know that they do not walk alone in this journey. Additionally, we are also here to show appreciation and gratitude to the medical professionals who tirelessly dedicate their lives to saving people.     The initiative is aligned with MyCEB’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices as the Bureau aims to positively leave a long-term impact on the lives of cancer patients and healthcare professionals at the National Cancer Institute. Apart from contributions in-kind, the team also took the time to engage with patients and personnel to understand their experience from this visit.

    To date, the MyCSR programme has touched 395 lives since its inception in 2018. With this programme, MyCEB has committed 4 hours of CSR for the year and the Bureau will be conducting more initiatives with measurable outcomes, demonstrating its unwavering commitment to enduring social impact.

    Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) has taken a proactive approach in bringing together key players from the industry through its first networking session of the year, aimed at fostering collaboration and growth opportunities.

    Held at Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur, the event was attended by over 250 business events industry players comprising both MyCEB’s Industry Partner Programme (IPP) members and non-IPP members, including venue operators, professional conference organisers, professional exhibition organisers and many more. The event served as a platform for industry stakeholders to connect, share insights and chart the course for the year ahead.

    The event also marks the Bureau’s newly appointed Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Azman Haji Tambi Chik’s first official gathering with local industry players. Reflecting on the significance of this gathering, Mr. Azman said, “Our networking session serves as a testament to MyCEB’s commitment to nurturing a vibrant and cohesive business events community in Malaysia.   • MyTripleE Shines Bright in Sarawak: MyCEB and BE Sarawak Join Forces for Business Excellence

    In a concerted effort to bolster Malaysia’s position as a prime destination for business events, an exciting collaboration is underway between Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) and Business Events Sarawak (BE Sarawak). Taking place in Sheraton Kuching, the MyCEB – BE Sarawak Engagement with BE Sarawak Industry Partners 2024 anticipates the participation of approximately 100 stakeholders from various sectors, including Professional Conference Organisers (PCO), Professional Exhibition Organizers (PEO), Event Management Companies (EMC), Destination Management Companies (DMC), associations, and relevant government agencies.

    Central to the agenda of this event is the spotlight on MyCEB’s innovative incentive campaign – MyTripleE, unveiled in August 2023. This initiative seeks to showcase Malaysia’s offerings in the targeted market segments namely convention, exhibition, as well as corporate meetings and incentives, with a special focus on Sarawak and the state’s potential.   • MyCEB PARTNERS WITH ACMAR MARKETING XIAMEN TO EXPAND BUSINESS EVENTS PRESENCE IN CHINA

    Unveiling its latest international collaboration, Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) has forged a strategic partnership with an international travel agent, ACMAR Marketing Xiamen which is a subsidiary of the ACMAR Group. This significant collaboration was formalised with the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) between Mr. Azman Haji Tambi Chik, Chief Executive Officer of MyCEB, and Dato’ Steven Tee, JP, Group Managing Director of ACMAR Group. The MoC signing took place during a three-day visit to the city.

    The collaboration bolsters both Malaysia and MyCEB’s presence in the promising Chinese market, specifically catering to the Xiamen business community.   • MALAYSIA REINSTATES PROACTIVE APPROACH TO SECURE BUSINESS EVENTS

    Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) is on the move again with seven of Malaysia’s prominent business events players including Business Events Sarawak, Langkawi Development Authority, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Borneo Convention Centre Kuching, One World Hotel, Sunway Resort and The Westin Langkawi Resort and Spa. This time, the delegation makes its way to the Asia-Pacific Incentives and Meetings Event (AIME) which is held from 19 to 21 February at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre.

    This year, AIME draws over 350 exhibitors, hosts 400 buyers and is estimated to have clocked in 3,000 visitors with global decision makers convening for business collaborations, leads, knowledge exchange and networking.

    The national bureau’s unwavering participation in AIME since 2011 underscores the effectiveness of AIME and the value the platform brings to the Malaysia business events sector. Last year’s participation results attracted a total of 28,580 participants to Malaysia, generating an estimated economic impact (EEI) of RM 445 million. Additionally, the event provides quality international and local media coverage for Malaysia.

    Speaking on this year’s strategy for the Bureau, Mr. Azman said that MyCEB will be taking an ambitious and proactive approach in driving the industry forward.
