  • The 2023 Negeri Sembilan Open Championships Will Be An Exciting Fencing Weekend

On September 2–3, 2023, over 100 fencers in the senior and veteran categories competed at the Negeri Sembilan Open Championship 2023 (“NSOC 2023), hosted by the Persatuan Lawan Pedang Negeri Sembilan (“PLPNS”), also known as the Negeri Sembilan Fencing Association (“NSFA”).

The competition attracted both local and foreign participants and was made possible with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBSMalaysia), the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB”), an agency under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture Malaysia, Majlis Sukan Negeri, Negeri Sembilan (“MSNNS”), the Malaysian Fencing Federation (MFF), and corporate sponsors.

The event was graced by YAM Tunku Besar Seri Menanti Tunku Ali Redhauddin ibni Tuanku Muhriz, YAM Tunku Zain Al-‘Abidin ibni Tuanku Muhriz, YB Pn Hannah Yeoh, Youth and Sports Minister, as well as YB Dato’ Mohd Faizal Ramli and YB Tn Hj Mystapha Nagoor, members of the Negeri Sembilan Exco, Pn Rusni Abu Hassan from MFF, En Zain Azrai bin Rashid of MyCEB, YBhg Dato’ Sabuddin Haji Sani from MSNNS, and YBhg Dato’ Mandy Chew of Lexis Hotels Group.

“I am happy to see an international competition of this standard here in Port Dickson, and it is my hope that the PLPNS builds on this success to make this a flagship fencing event. Many congratulations to all who were involved in organizing this event, as well as the winners and participants, for their efforts. Thank you also to KBSMalaysia, MyCEB, MFF, MSNNS, and our corporate sponsors for their support,” said YAM Tunku Ali Redhauddin, patron of PLPNS, at the end of the event.

“We are pleased to see the successful conclusion of the inaugural Negeri Sembilan Open Championship 2023 in Port Dickson for senior and veteran fencers. One of our objectives in holding this tournament is to allow our local fencers to compete with other international athletes on home ground. It also serves to elevate the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie among participants from various countries. As hosts, we can’t help but feel proud to be able to give visitors a warm welcome to the idyllic coastal town of Port Dickson, where fencers and their families were able to enjoy some sun, sea, and great food.” said Tengku Dato’ Mu’adzam Sadruddin bin Tengku Noone Aziz, President, PLPNS.

“We hope to have this event as an annual event and to be a fixture on both the sporting and tourism calendars, he ended.

“I am glad to see an event of this nature in Negeri Sembilan, as MFF has always encouraged its member associations to host events in their home states, as it will broaden the reach of the sport of fencing in Malaysia. Increased exposure to the sport will hopefully lead to greater participation, which in turn increases the pool of talent for our country,” said Pn Rusni Abu Hassan, MFF President.

“Congratulations to the Persatuan Lawan Pedang Negeri Sembilan for successfully hosting this competition. Majlis Sukan Negeri, Negeri Sembilan, will endeavor to continue supporting our Negeri Sembilan athletes and to encourage members of the public to take up sporting activities for a healthy lifestyle, said YBhg Dato’ Sabuddin bin Haji Sani, Director, MSNNS.

The event was also supported by MyCEB, an agency under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture Malaysia. “We are pleased to be invited for this sporting event, as MyCEB’s aim of bringing international participants to Malaysia via sporting events, conventions, and exhibitions is achieved through events such as the NSOC 2023,” said En Zain Azrai bin Rashid, Acting Chief Executive Officer of MyCEB.

“We hope to be able to support more events of this nature in the future,” he concluded.

The NSOC 2023 was held over 2 days and saw both the senior and veteran categories for the 3 fencing disciplines of epee, foil, and sabre.

  • Meet in Malaysia at the Malaysia Business Events Week in 2022, which will reshape business events

Officiating Speech by YB Dato’ Sri Hajah Nancy Shukri, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture at the Meet in Malaysia @ Malaysia Business Events Week 2022 held at World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur.

KUALA LUMPUR – 29 AUGUST 2022: The Meet in Malaysia At Malaysia Business Events Week 2022 (MIM @ MBEW 2022), a notable meeting of the business events industry’s top figures, is proudly hosted by the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB). The awards ceremony at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL) on August 29, 2022, will be presided over by YBhg. Dato’ Sri Hajah Nancy Shukri, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC), and will mark Malaysia’s transition into the future as a dominant force in the corporate events sector.

The signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) between Malaysia and Indonesia’s business event stakeholders is a significant component of this year’s MIM @ MBEW. YBhg. Dato’ Sri Hajah Nancy Shukri, Minister of MOTAC emphasises “I would like to congratulate MyCEB for its strategic vision in initiating the MOC with our industry colleagues from Indonesia. This strategic collaboration based on common goals and assets but also celebrate differentiators will lead to new opportunities for more business events, leading to more Indonesian business events delegates to Malaysia and vice versa. Malaysia and Indonesia already have a close tourism relationship as Top 5 source markets for the other. This MOC will help increase more business events delegates for both nations”.

Welcome Remarks by YBhg. Dato’ Sri Abdul Khani Daud, Chief Executive Officer of MyCEB at the Meet in Malaysia @ Malaysia Business Events Week 2022 held at World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur.

Through a Special Keynote – “Reshaping Business Events”, YBhg. Datuk Hajah Saraya Arbi, Secretary General of MOTAC indicates, “This year’s MBEW is different and special with so many industry leaders – both national and international – gracing our event and sharing their knowledge. To our global association leaders, I am delighted to note that there are 11 international associations supporting MIM @ MBEW – thank you for joining us onsite or online. I have no doubt that business events planners know that incorporating a destination’s culture into their agenda helps foster attendee engagement. Combining this with a sustainability or inclusive focus takes it one step further. After all Malaysia has been granted a seat in the UNESCO which focuses on education, scientific, culture which can link to business events”.

The opening ceremony welcomes YBhg. Dato’ Sri Abdul Khani Daud, CEO of MyCEB, “MyCEB’s vision to be one of the world’s preferred international business events destinations and our mission to deliver a viable portfolio of international business events to attract business events delegates to Malaysia while enhancing the country’s profile on a global scale. This year’s MBEW aims to be the platform to drive all these. The most impactful sustainable business events advance the cause with creative ways, going beyond the traditional to integrate new opportunities designed to engage attendees, benefit and “give back” to host communities. Ultimately, being involved will help improve the products and experiences we promote to the market. This does not mean diverting from MyCEB’s role to sell and market the destination but evolving to a broader mandate”.

Signing Ceremony of Memorandum of Cooperation by Malaysia and Indonesia of the Meet in Malaysia @ Malaysia Business Events Week 2022 held at World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur.

The scenario for the Malaysia business events offers a prosperous expansion. Malaysia is on the rise to produce game-changing advances as the top hub for business event activities, even if the strategy for this market to be dominated is fundamentally vital for influential and major economic elements. This event serves as the focal point for stifling the growth of the business events sector by bringing together key players in the sector to understand the most recent trends that contribute to astoundingly measurable results. It is with fervent optimism that events like these would open up a torrent of chances to grow the foundations of the countries’ development in the business events sector.

Let’s BE Greater, Together. Meet in Malaysia.
