KUALA LUMPUR, 20 July 2026 – BYD Sime Motors, the official distributor of BYD vehicles in Malaysia, has launched BYD Certified, the brand’s official certified pre-owned vehicle programme designed to provide Malaysians with a trusted and transparent pathway into electric vehicle (EV) ownership. The launch also marks the establishment of the first BYD Certified outlet in the Asia Pacific region at Sime Darby Auto Selection Glenmarie, reflecting Malaysia’s growing importance in BYD’s regional growth strategy.
Going beyond a conventional pre-owned vehicle programme, BYD Certified aims to raise the standard of pre-owned EV ownership in Malaysia by offering professionally inspected vehicles, verified battery health assessments, warranty coverage, financing solutions and aftersales support. Guided by its promise to “Drive Pre-Owned with Confidence”, the programme is designed to provide greater transparency, reliability and long-term value throughout the ownership journey.
The launch also marked the programme’s first customer delivery, with the handover of a pre-owned BYD ATTO 3. The milestone highlights the introduction of a certified pre-owned option for Malaysian consumers as interest in electric mobility continues to grow.

Adeline Lew, Managing Director of BYD Sime Motors, said BYD Certified is built around rigorous quality standards and transparent vehicle verification. Every certified pre-owned BYD undergoes a comprehensive inspection by trained technicians and is supported by verified vehicle history records, battery health assessments and warranty coverage. The programme also provides existing BYD owners with a trusted trade-in platform, making it easier to upgrade within the BYD ecosystem while supporting long-term ownership value.
To ensure that every vehicle meets stringent quality standards, BYD Certified is built around five key assurance pillars. These include a 170-point professional inspection, a mileage requirement of below 100,000km, and a vehicle age limit of no more than four years. Certified vehicles must also meet specific mileage thresholds, ranging from up to 30,000km for one-year-old vehicles to 100,000km for four-year-old vehicles.
The programme also requires each vehicle to have a certified clean history, with no major accident, fire or flood damage and no odometer tampering. Refurbishment work must be carried out using genuine BYD parts and follow approved repair standards. Together, these requirements provide customers with greater certainty when purchasing a certified pre-owned BYD.
Beyond vehicle certification, customers can enjoy several ownership benefits, including a five-day buy-back assurance. Customers are entitled to a full buy-back at the original purchase price if undisclosed structural, flood or fire damage is identified within five days of delivery. Customers will also have access to nationwide authorised sales, service and spare parts support through BYD’s authorised 3S dealer network across Malaysia.
Existing BYD owners can further benefit from the programme through its trusted trade-in platform, which offers transparent vehicle evaluations and a convenient pathway to upgrade within the BYD ecosystem. The first BYD Certified outlet at Sime Darby Auto Selection Glenmarie provides a one-stop experience covering vehicle purchase, certification verification, trade-in services, financing solutions, warranty support and aftersales care.
