Vietnam’s automotive sector has undergone remarkable growth in recent years, propelled by an expanding economy, increased environmental awareness, and shifting consumer demands. These changes have positioned the country as a rising global market, attracting considerable attention from industry players eager to tap into the dynamic investment landscape. The upcoming Automechanika Ho Chi Minh City, set to take place from 19 to 21 June 2025 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC), will offer a prime platform for networking, knowledge sharing, and showcasing products for both local and international businesses.
Ms. Fiona Chiew, General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, shared: “Vietnam’s automotive industry is seeing a surge in younger, more dynamic consumers. This shift is driving demand for passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and fleets, especially in the compact car market, as well as a growing preference for innovative, sustainable technologies. Automechanika Ho Chi Minh City will address these developments across the entire automotive supply chain, while engaging the public with interactive experiences, conferences, and workshops to showcase the accessibility of this evolving market.”
One of the key drivers of growth is the expanding middle class, particularly concentrated in urban areas across the country. By 2030, Vietnam’s middle class is expected to increase by 36 million people, bringing the total to 76 million. These demographic shifts not only influence consumer behavior but also reshape supply chains and manufacturing strategies to meet the new demands.
“To take advantage of emerging opportunities, international companies are increasingly entering the Vietnamese market, reflecting the country’s vibrant investment climate, which is supported by the government, consumers, and businesses alike,” Ms. Chiew noted.
Among the major foreign direct investments (FDI) in Vietnam is the partnership between Chinese Geely Auto Group and Tasco Joint Stock Company, which was finalized in 2024. In addition, Skoda has chosen Vietnam for its first Southeast Asian assembly plant, slated for completion in early 2025. With the entry of such global players, the local industry stands to benefit from an influx of expertise, infrastructure development, and job creation.
The future of the automotive industry will be at the forefront of the Automotive Mobility Solutions Zone, which will highlight cutting-edge technologies and green innovations across key themes in the supply chain, such as digitalisation, electrification, connectivity, logistics, and manufacturing. The Automotive Mobility Solutions Conference will also return, offering a platform for brands, academics, government officials, and industry experts to exchange ideas on crucial topics impacting both Vietnam’s automotive sector and the global market, including energy solutions, new energy vehicles (NEVs), digitalisation, autonomous driving, and ESG sustainability efforts.
In addition, the show will feature segments dedicated to automotive repair and maintenance, body and paint, oils, lubricants, fuels, accessories, and customising. Visitors will have the chance to discover the latest advancements in repair tools, diagnostic software, infotainment systems, and customisation options designed for both internal combustion engine (ICE) and new energy vehicles (NEVs).
To complement these exhibits, the Collision Repair Training Workshop will return to offer both theoretical insights and hands-on demonstrations of the newest tools and equipment, focusing on green solutions for both ICE vehicles and NEVs.
The autoFEST@HCMC event is back, bringing together automotive enthusiasts to celebrate car culture and the diverse trends and subcultures within the industry. This year, highlights include a new outdoor, camping, campervan, and caravan showcase, which will feature campervans, caravans, and related accessories for automotive enthusiasts who enjoy outdoor adventures. The event will also offer Auto Service Day and DIY Workshops, where visitors can learn practical auto care and maintenance tips. The return of the Music Party and Drift and Stunt Show promises an exciting lineup of live performances and thrilling car stunts. Furthermore, the EMMA Vietnam competition will showcase over 40 cars with custom audio systems, while the Esports & Gaming section will feature competitive gaming events that will add a fun, competitive edge to the show.
