The Heritage Ride Taiping 2026 proved that sports and culture make a formidable pairing. Bringing 2,200 cyclists to the historic town on 25 October 2026, the event went beyond a standard cycling competition, transforming Dataran Warisan Taiping into a vibrant cultural hub filled with local arts, food, and community spirit.
Flagged off by local leaders, cyclists of all backgrounds took on challenging 90km and 65km competitive courses, as well as a relaxed 17km fun route winding through Sepetang and Kamunting. However, the energy extended far beyond the finish line. The race village at Dataran Warisan Taiping offered a feast for the senses, anchored by live cultural showcases including energetic drum and dance performances by SJK(C) Yuk Kwan and Kumpulan Selendang Perak. These acts not only highlighted local talents but also fostered a deep sense of community ownership.
The event’s organizers spearheaded by YB Wong Kah Woh, Kelab Berbasikal Elit, and Gosportz Sdn Bhd ensured that participants experienced the best of Taiping’s hospitality. In collaboration with Taiping Zoo, all 1,000 complimentary admission tickets provided to participants were fully claimed, allowing visitors to explore Malaysia’s oldest zoo and appreciate the town’s natural splendor.
With robust backing from Tourism Perak, the Taiping Municipal Council and local volunteers, The Heritage Ride Taiping 2026 successfully demonstrated how regional events can drive domestic tourism while preserving and celebrating local cultural heritage.
