Malaysia to Host MDX Summit & SmartGov 2025: Driving ASEAN’s Digital Future

Malaysia is set to strengthen its position as a regional digital powerhouse with the return of the Malaysia Digital Xceleration (MDX) Summit 2025, held in conjunction with the inaugural SmartGov Malaysia 2025, from 17 to 19 September 2025 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

Jointly organised by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and the Jabatan Digital Negara (JDN), in strategic partnership with Synapze Sdn Bhd, both flagship events will spotlight Malaysia’s leadership in digital innovation, public sector transformation, and data-driven growth across ASEAN.

Now in its third edition, MDX Summit 2025 will centre on five key innovation tracks: Next-Gen Data, Next-Gen Computing, Next-Gen Trust, Next-Gen Creativity, and Next-Gen Talent. These focus areas highlight Malaysia’s efforts to integrate advanced technologies into practical solutions that drive business growth, enhance public services, and elevate the lives of citizens and communities across the region.

Anuar Fariz Fadzil, CEO of MDEC, said, “MDX 2025 will accelerate Malaysia’s leadership in the digital economy by nurturing innovation, attracting investments, and cultivating inclusive digital growth. Technologies built on digital assets and agents will unlock new value across sectors through innovation, talent development, and responsible AI.”

Notable global experts headlining the summit include Dr. Keyu Jin, Professor at the London School of Economics and author of The New China Playbook, and Gerard Grech, Managing Director at Founders by the University of Cambridge and founding CEO of Tech Nation UK.

Running concurrently, SmartGov Malaysia 2025, themed “GovTech for the Future – Innovating Public Service Delivery”, will spotlight transformative digital solutions in governance. The event will focus on three strategic pillars: AI for citizen-centric public services, Big Data for trust and transparency, and Cloud Computing for agility and resilience.

Ts. Nik Zalbiha binti Nik Mat, Director General of JDN, emphasised the government’s commitment to digital inclusivity and sovereignty. “SmartGov 2025 will highlight Malaysia’s vision for a forward-thinking, secure, and citizen-first public sector. This includes AI-powered chatbots, cybersecurity collaboration, and smart service delivery.”

International speaker Kamales Lardi, CEO of Lardi & Partner Consulting and author of The Human Side of Digital Business Transformation, will also share key insights into the human dimension of digital change.

Both events will feature live tech showcases, high-level roundtables, and cross-sector networking. A unified exhibition space will bring together public and private sector innovation, fostering strategic partnerships that extend far beyond the summit.
