• Power That Lasts as the Honor X9d Emerges as the Ultimate Mid-Range Smartphone for Long Battery Life and Tough Performance

Power That Lasts as the Honor X9d Emerges as the Ultimate Mid-Range Smartphone for Long Battery Life and Tough Performance

The Honor X9d marks another bold step in Honor’s effort to redefine what a mid-range smartphone can offer. Released in 2025, this device aims to strike a balance between endurance, toughness and practicality, appealing to users who value reliability over pure performance. While it may not boast the headline-grabbing camera specs or raw processing power of flagship models, it carves out a strong identity built on durability, long battery life and a bright, vivid display that performs well both indoors and outdoors.

At first glance, the Honor X9d stands out with its clean, flat design and sturdy build. The phone carries an impressive IP69K rating, one of the highest certifications available for dust and water resistance. This means it can endure high-pressure water jets, splashes and even drops from up to 2.5 meters according to Honor’s own durability tests. Reinforced with internal shock-absorbing layers inspired by airbag structures, the X9d feels like a device built for real-world conditions, whether you’re working outdoors, travelling or simply prone to the occasional drop.

Powering the phone is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 processor, a capable mid-range chipset that handles daily tasks with ease. It may not rival flagship chips in terms of speed or gaming performance, but it delivers a smooth and consistent experience for browsing, messaging and streaming. Paired with 12GB of RAM and storage options up to 512GB, the device feels fluid enough for most users who prioritize efficiency over raw power. Running on MagicOS 9 based on Android 15, it includes Honor’s own AI-driven features such as Magic Text, AI Eraser and AI Outpainting, which enhance everyday usability and creativity. However, some users might find the pre-installed apps unnecessary, a minor downside that slightly affects the otherwise polished experience.

One of the phone’s biggest strengths lies in its battery endurance. Equipped with an enormous 8,300 mAh battery, the Honor X9d can easily last more than two days on a single charge, depending on usage. In real-world testing, it consistently outperforms many competitors in the same price range. The 66W fast charging support, while not the fastest on the market, is still reasonably quick and restores a significant amount of power in under an hour. For people constantly on the go, this battery performance is a major advantage, making the X9d one of the most reliable phones in its category.

The display is another area where Honor gets things right. The X9d features a 6.79-inch AMOLED panel with a 1.5K resolution and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The visual quality is crisp, fluid and pleasant to look at, whether you are watching videos, playing games or reading. The screen’s peak brightness of around 6,000 nits ensures strong outdoor visibility, an important feature for users who spend a lot of time in sunlight. Coupled with dual stereo speakers capable of producing clear and loud sound, the multimedia experience on this phone feels more premium than its price would suggest.

Camera performance on the Honor X9d is solid but not spectacular. The main rear sensor is a 108-megapixel unit capable of producing detailed and vibrant photos in daylight. However, the 5-megapixel ultra-wide lens feels underwhelming, especially when compared with competing devices that offer higher-resolution sensors. In low-light situations, the camera performs decently but not exceptionally. The 16-megapixel front camera captures clear selfies, but serious photography enthusiasts may find the overall camera setup a little limited for advanced work.

Where the X9d truly shines is in its overall user experience. It may not have the glamour of a flagship model, but its combination of rugged design, exceptional battery life and reliable performance makes it a strong all-rounder. This is the kind of phone that you can confidently take anywhere to the beach, a construction site, or on a hiking trip without worrying about damage or power loss halfway through the day. The design may be understated, but its functionality and resilience are unmistakably impressive.

Priced at around RM1,699 in Malaysia, the Honor X9d delivers excellent value for what it offers. It appeals most to practical users who want a dependable daily companion rather than a status symbol. For those who prioritize photography, speed and cutting-edge features, flagship phones will still be the better option. But for anyone who values toughness, endurance and an overall worry-free experience, the Honor X9d stands as one of the most compelling mid-range smartphones of 2025.

In conclusion, the Honor X9d is not about chasing trends or records. It focuses instead on what truly matters for everyday users durability, long battery life and solid performance. It may not turn heads with flashy specs, but it quietly delivers in all the areas that count. In a market crowded with fragile, short-lived devices, the Honor X9d feels refreshingly dependable, proving that strength and simplicity can still define a great smartphone.

  • Silver Jubilee Gala Marks 25 Years of Innovation, Recognises Adam Ham’s ASEAN Impact

Silver Jubilee Gala Marks 25 Years of Innovation, Recognises Adam Ham’s ASEAN Impact

It was a night of glamour, gratitude, and creative energy as some of Malaysia’s biggest names from the entertainment and media world gathered to celebrate a man whose influence continues to shape the nation’s creative landscape, Adam Ham. The grand gala marked not only Ham’s 25th year of championing Malaysia’s creative economy but also his 50th birthday, making the evening a double celebration of legacy and life. The star-studded event was both heartfelt and dynamic, mirroring Ham’s own journey as one of the country’s most connected and passionate creative figures.

Held jointly at Laut and The Fishermen’s Club in Mont Kiara Meridin, the celebration brought together more than 300 distinguished guests, including VIPs, celebrities, industry leaders, and members of the media. Themed “Nightmare on Adam’s Street,” the event radiated a bold sense of personality and playfulness, with lively performances, music, and an atmosphere of camaraderie that underscored Ham’s long-standing role as a connector across diverse communities. The evening was officially graced by Dato’ Sri Arthur Joseph Kurup, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, and held under the patronage of Dato’ Kamil Othman, former chairman of the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS).

A highlight of the night was Ham’s special recognition by ASEAN Records as the region’s most connected entrepreneur in the creative media and entertainment sectors across Southeast Asia. The official record title, “Largest Collection of Creative Media & Entertainment Contacts in a Single Mobile Directory by One Individual,” aptly reflected his extraordinary ability to build and sustain relationships across borders.

The event also saw the presence of beloved stars including Diana Danielle, Ruhainies, Elizabeth Tan, and Amelia Henderson, who joined Ham for a shared birthday celebration that added a personal touch to the festivities. Supported by more than 70 corporate sponsors and partners such as Gintell, Vivo, OneCare Wellness, VitaHealth, and Kinohimitsu, the evening was a showcase of unity between the creative and corporate worlds, a synergy that Ham has long advocated for throughout his career.

In his speech, Dato’ Sri Arthur Joseph Kurup commended Ham for his resilience and vision, saying that Adam represents the kind of creative adaptability that Malaysia is proud of. Even in the toughest times, he found ways to keep the industry moving and people employed. His work embodies the spirit of innovation that drives Malaysia’s creative economy forward.

Adam Ham’s journey began in 2000 with a firm belief in what he calls “Clevonomic opportunities,” creative ventures designed to create real value and global impact for Malaysian talent. After graduating from Western Michigan University, he began his career at the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, managing innovation funds before joining the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation, then known as the Multimedia Development Corporation. Under the mentorship of Dato’ Kamil Othman, Ham played a key role in promoting iconic Malaysian titles such as Upin & Ipin, Bola Kampung, Pontianak Harum Sundal Malam, and Legenda Budak Setan at major international festivals, securing co-productions, distribution deals, and putting Malaysia on the global map as a filming destination.

His subsequent tenure at FINAS further solidified his reputation as a creative economy specialist. There, he worked tirelessly to elevate Malaysian films and music at international markets and festivals including NATPE Budapest, formerly known as DISCOP, Sundance, the American Film Market, Marché du Film in Cannes, the Busan International Film Festival, and the MIDEM Music Festival. In 2011, Ham took a bold leap by founding the Global Creative & Media Agency, a platform dedicated to connecting Malaysia’s creative industries with global partners and audiences.

When the pandemic brought the global entertainment industry to a halt, Ham once again proved his adaptability by pivoting towards new opportunities. Rather than waiting for international events to return, he bridged the gap between entertainment and retail, pairing celebrities with brands for commercials, endorsements, and live campaigns that helped sustain both industries during an uncertain period. His deep-rooted commitment to Malaysia and its creative community remained at the heart of everything he did, driving him to build connections that would uplift others and foster shared success.

Reflecting on his evolution, Dato’ Kamil Othman shared that he had watched Adam grow from a young industry executive into a regional connector who never stops building bridges. His passion for linking Malaysia with the world has opened doors for countless creators and entrepreneurs. He truly understands that the creative industry is about people, relationships, and shared growth.

The ASEAN Records recognition is a testament to Ham’s network, which now exceeds 25,000 contacts across the region. Speaking about the honour, Ham said that working across government and private sectors taught him that relationships and trust are everything. Malaysia’s creative community has always been about lifting each other up, and that is what keeps him going.

As he looks toward the future, Adam Ham remains steadfast in his mission to expand regional collaborations, strengthen Malaysia’s creative footprint, and inspire the next generation of industry leaders. His goal is to keep building regional connections, expand creative reach, and leave behind a legacy that empowers others to dream bigger.

The grand celebration was more than just an acknowledgment of a career. It was a tribute to two and a half decades of vision, resilience, and relentless pursuit of excellence. Through every milestone and challenge, Adam Ham continues to embody the spirit of Malaysia’s creative evolution, a testament to how one individual’s passion can unite an entire industry and inspire a nation.

The financial sector remains a key pillar of Malaysia’s economy, contributing approximately 6.7% to the nation’s GDP in 2024 and employing nearly 167,000 professionals. In alignment with Bank Negara Malaysia’s Financial Sector Blueprint 2022–2026, FSF Xcel supports the transition towards a digitally fluent and innovation-driven workforce one that embraces data, agility, and lifelong learning. The platform’s real-time analytics provide financial institutions with a unified competency language to guide workforce planning, benchmark performance, and nurture professional development. This collective approach strengthens Malaysia’s position as a leader in developing future-ready financial talent for the digital economy.

According to Edward Ling, Chief Executive of AICB, FSF Xcel represents more than a technological advancement; it is a catalyst for transformation within the financial industry. He said, “FSF Xcel is more than a skills assessment platform, it is a catalyst for transformation. By equipping both employees and employers with data-driven insights to identify, measure, and strengthen their capabilities, it fosters a culture of continuous learning and professional excellence. Developed for the industry, with the industry, FSF Xcel reflects our shared commitment to building a resilient, competitive, and future-ready financial workforce.”

YBhg. Datuk Dr Yvonne Chia, FCB, Chairperson of the MyMAHIR Future Skills Talent Council – Financial Sector and AICB Council Member, shared similar sentiments. “In a world where nearly 40% of today’s skill sets are expected to evolve or become obsolete by 2030, FSF Xcel empowers financial institutions to respond with agility and foresight. It reinforces Malaysia’s position as a regional hub for skilled, versatile, and innovative financial professionals,” she said.

From the perspective of technology collaboration, Sharma Lachu, Founder and CEO of Accendo Technologies, emphasised the power of partnership in driving transformation. “FSF Xcel proves that vision can be translated into action. We are confident that Accendo’s partnership with AICB will drive the impetus for an industry-wide Digital Talent Passport, allowing individuals and organisations to thrive in this ever-changing world,” he said.

The launch of FSF Xcel is backed by findings from AICB’s 2025 Workforce Baseline Study, which saw a 68% response rate from 99 financial institutions nationwide. The study revealed that 96% of respondents expressed strong interest in adopting a standardised digital assessment platform aligned with the FSF to close skill gaps and enhance workforce readiness. It also found that approximately 40,000 employees are expected to see their roles evolve due to automation, underscoring the growing urgency for targeted upskilling and reskilling initiatives across the sector.

These insights reflect global trends highlighted in the World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report 2025, which projects that 39% of current skill sets will become obsolete by 2030 and identifies skill gaps as one of the most significant barriers to business transformation in Malaysia.

FSF Xcel will be rolled out progressively across financial institutions starting in the fourth quarter of 2025. AICB will continue to work closely with Bank Negara Malaysia, Accendo Technologies, industry associations, and learning partners to ensure smooth adoption and implementation. Through this collaborative effort, Malaysia’s financial sector is set to take a decisive step forward in cultivating a skilled, future-ready workforce equipped to lead in an evolving global economy.

The Key to Digestive Balance in Modern Living Insights from Dr. Vipada Sae-Lao

In the pursuit of better health, many often believe that significant change requires drastic measures. However, according to Dr. Vipada Sae-Lao, Nutrition Education and Training Lead for Asia Pacific at Herbalife, true wellness often begins with the simplest and most consistent habits. Through her years of experience as a nutritionist, Dr. Sae-Lao has found that improvements in energy, sleep, and focus often stem from one key area the gut.

Reconnecting with traditional foods may hold the answer to restoring balance within our digestive systems. For centuries, Asian diets have naturally supported gut health through wholesome, nutrient-dense meals. Yet, modern lifestyles have shifted away from these traditions. Convenience often wins over nutrition as rice bowls are replaced with fast food, fibre-rich vegetables give way to processed snacks, and herbal broths are substituted with sugary drinks.

This dietary transformation is now showing its effects. Across Asia, cases of digestive discomfort such as bloating, acid reflux, and irritable bowel symptoms are on the rise. The Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) reported that in 2023, diseases of the digestive system ranked among the top ten causes of hospitalisation, making up 6.43 percent of total cases. Alarmingly, these conditions were also among the top ten causes of death in both public and private hospitals.

Dr. Sae-Lao’s message is not one of fear but of awareness. She urges individuals to take a moment to reflect on what their bodies truly need and recognise how small, consistent choices can make a significant difference to long-term wellbeing. The digestive system plays a much greater role than many realise. Known as the body’s “second brain”, the gut communicates directly with the brain to regulate digestion, immunity, metabolism, and even mental health. It is home to a vast ecosystem of microorganisms that help break down food, produce essential vitamins, and guard against harmful bacteria.

Unfortunately, many modern eating habits disrupt this delicate balance. Diets high in processed foods, refined sugars, and unhealthy fats can harm the gut microbiome, leading to inflammation and digestive discomfort. Over time, this imbalance can contribute to more serious chronic conditions. Dr. Sae-Lao believes that the solution lies in understanding and honouring what our bodies truly need, often through traditions that have sustained generations before us.

Adopting healthier habits does not mean overhauling one’s lifestyle overnight. It is about making practical, intentional adjustments that fit within a modern routine. Asian diets, rooted in centuries of wisdom and now supported by science, offer valuable guidance. Meals rich in vegetables, whole grains, legumes, and fermented foods provide essential nutrients that support digestion and heart health. Cooking methods like boiling, grilling, steaming, or stir-frying help preserve nutrients and reduce unnecessary fats. Probiotic-rich foods such as kimchi, miso, yogurt, pickles, and kombucha can strengthen the immune system and promote a balanced gut. Likewise, herbs and spices commonly used in Asian cooking ginger, turmeric, garlic, and fennel not only enhance flavour but also support digestion naturally.

For those who find it challenging to meet their daily fibre needs through diet alone, Herbalife’s Mixed Fibres with Inulin Powder Drink offers a simple and convenient way to increase fibre intake. With a blend of soluble and insoluble fibres, it promotes digestive health and encourages the growth of beneficial gut bacteria, contributing to a sense of overall wellness.

Mindful eating, another hallmark of Asian food culture, is equally important in maintaining gut balance. Eating slowly, chewing thoroughly, and appreciating each meal allows the body to properly activate digestive enzymes and improve nutrient absorption. Reducing distractions during meals and tuning into natural hunger cues help regulate digestion and promote a healthy relationship with food.

Every individual’s digestive system is unique, and studies show that different people respond differently to the same foods depending on their gut bacteria. A personalised approach to nutrition can therefore be more effective than a one-size-fits-all diet, helping individuals make choices that support their body’s specific needs and foster long-term health.

Dr. Sae-Lao encourages everyone to merge the wisdom of traditional diets with modern practicality. Simple habits such as planning weekly meals, preparing ingredients in advance, and staying mindful of food choices can help reduce stress and ensure healthier eating, even on the busiest days. Supporting these habits with daily actions such as drinking enough water, engaging in physical activity, and prioritising quality sleep can further enhance digestive and overall health.

Better health does not begin with grand gestures but with small, steady steps. Replacing one meal with a nourishing option, taking a moment to enjoy each bite, and listening to how your body responds can create meaningful change over time. As Dr. Sae-Lao reminds us, “Your gut can lead the way, just listen closely.”
