Maxim Malaysia used the 2026 Merdeka season to strengthen its connection with local communities through initiatives focused on inclusion, community participation and national pride. Held throughout August in conjunction with Malaysia’s 69th National Day, the programmes brought together partner-drivers, families, community groups and members of the public across Sabah and Pahang.
A key component of the celebrations was Maxim’s involvement in the Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang (KMJG) 2026 in Sabah. Starting in Kota Kinabalu on 1 August, the journey covered several districts including Penampang, Putatan, Papar, Tuaran, Sandakan, Tawau and Lahad Datu before concluding in Kota Kinabalu on 31 August.
The KMJG programme provided opportunities for communities to take part in activities such as quizzes, awareness sessions and interactive engagements. Donations and community assistance were also carried out during the journey, allowing the programme to combine patriotic celebrations with meaningful grassroots engagement.
Maxim Malaysia Director Mohd Hazwan Musley said the company viewed its participation as an opportunity to be closer to the people it serves. He added that Maxim was grateful to JAPEN Sabah for the opportunity to contribute to the national celebration, including through ride promotional codes for participants.
Another major highlight was Maxim’s CSR collaboration with the Tawau Association of the Deaf. The initiative supported 94 students from Primary 1 to Primary 6 with educational supplies and school materials, while fun activities were organised to provide the children with an enjoyable and engaging experience.
The programme reflected Maxim’s emphasis on making community initiatives more inclusive. Head of Tawau Maxim Malaysia Rizwan Azwanshah said the company believes its role extends beyond transportation and that contributing to education is one way to make a positive difference in the lives of people within the communities it serves.
The importance of inclusion was also reflected in the company’s participation in Pahang’s main Merdeka Parade in Kuantan. Maxim brought together its cars, partner-drivers and family members to take part in the state-level celebration, giving drivers and their loved ones an opportunity to celebrate Malaysia’s independence together.
Maxim Kuantan Head Muhammad Hasif Faiz said participating in the parade was a way for the company to express its appreciation for Malaysia while strengthening its relationship with the Kuantan community. Maxim has been operating in Kuantan since 2019, making its participation a continuation of its connection with the local community.
For partner-driver Mohamad Hafiz Woon, the parade provided a meaningful opportunity to celebrate unity alongside fellow Malaysians and drivers. The involvement of family members further added to the sense of togetherness and made the celebration more memorable for those taking part.
Across its Merdeka activities, Maxim Malaysia demonstrated how community engagement can take many forms, from supporting national outreach programmes and educational initiatives to creating opportunities for families and partner-drivers to celebrate together. The initiatives underline the company’s broader commitment to contributing to inclusive communities while embracing the spirit of Merdeka.
