GEORGE TOWN, PENANG – Malaysian bedding brand Getha has marked a new milestone in the country’s sleep industry with the introduction of its With Love, Getha – Wedding & Celebration Collection, officially recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records (MBR) as the “First Chinese Wedding Mattress in Malaysia”.
Unveiled at Gurney Plaza in George Town, the collection brings a fresh perspective to the centuries-old Chinese matrimonial tradition of an chuang (安床), combining meaningful cultural symbolism with modern mattress technology and personalised luxury.
The traditional practice of an chuang, which involves preparing the matrimonial bed before a couple begins their married life, has long been associated with blessings of happiness, harmony, prosperity and a successful marriage. While customs may differ among Chinese families and dialect groups, the ritual remains an important part of wedding preparations.

Through this latest innovation, Getha aims to extend the significance of the matrimonial bed to the mattress itself, transforming an everyday essential into a meaningful symbol of love, commitment and new beginnings.
According to Getha Project Director Kevin Tan, the collection reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to innovation while recognising the importance of cultural heritage and emotional connections with customers.
“At Getha, we strive to be the pioneer in sleep innovation. As part of this journey, we have always introduced groundbreaking sleep technology such as Nano Silver Protection Technology and Miracle Latex,” he said.
Tan explained that innovation does not necessarily have to revolve around new materials or advanced technology, but can also emerge from products that connect with customers through local customs, heritage and traditions.
Rather than creating a mattress that serves only as a symbolic wedding item, Getha wanted to develop a product that could genuinely become part of a couple’s new chapter while maintaining the comfort and quality associated with the brand.
One of the collection’s most distinctive features is its incorporation of traditional Chinese wedding elements, particularly the colour red and the double-happiness symbol (囍), both widely associated with joyful celebrations and marital blessings.
The wedding mattresses feature luxurious red detailing along their sides, complemented by an embroidered double-happiness symbol that gives each design a distinctive appearance while preserving the comfort technologies found in Getha’s Transforme Miracle Latex range.
Beyond newlyweds, Getha has also introduced the With Blessing, Getha series, designed for married couples and individuals who wish to incorporate meaningful symbols into their bedroom furnishings.
Customers can select alternative embroidered Chinese characters, including 愛 representing love, 發 symbolising prosperity, 財 associated with wealth, and 福 representing blessings, happiness and good fortune.
The collection offers extensive personalisation options, allowing customers to commemorate important moments through customised embroidery featuring names, wedding dates or other meaningful details.
Standard embroidery can accommodate up to 18 characters per row, with customers able to choose from Gold, Navy Blue and Dark Brown thread colours. The embroidery is presented in the elegant Brush Script MT font, creating a personalised finishing touch.

For couples seeking a more exclusive design, Getha also provides a fully customised embroidery panel that allows them to incorporate their own wedding logo or bespoke artwork, turning the mattress into a meaningful keepsake of their special occasion.
With these customisation features, Getha believes the collection represents not only Malaysia’s first Chinese wedding mattress but potentially a pioneering concept in the wider wedding mattress market.
Despite its distinctive appearance and cultural significance, the collection continues to incorporate the sleep technologies associated with Getha’s established mattress range.
Among its key features is Miracle Latex, which incorporates Graphite+ into 100 per cent natural latex. According to Getha, the technology is designed to help dissipate body heat while offering enhanced elasticity and comfort.
The company states that its Miracle Latex technology provides up to four times the elasticity and comfort compared with other materials, supporting a more comfortable sleeping experience.
Meanwhile, the Transforme Miracle Latex PrimeFibre variant includes rubberised coconut fibre to provide an additional supportive layer within the mattress structure, alongside Suprelle Cool Night Fibrefill, which is designed to promote a cooler sleeping environment.
Getha also highlighted its Biocool mattress, which the company describes as Malaysia’s first natural cooling mattress made using sugar cane fibres, offering a naturally cooling sleep surface.
By incorporating these technologies into its wedding collection, Getha aims to ensure that customers can enjoy both the emotional significance of a matrimonial mattress and the practical benefits of quality sleep.
The official unveiling took place at the Centre Atrium of Gurney Plaza and coincided with the opening of Getha’s new Sleep Therapy Center showroom, located on Level 3, Lot 170-03-72/73.
The dual celebration reflected the Chinese double-happiness symbol, marking both the introduction of a new product collection and the expansion of Getha’s retail presence in Penang.
The launch also highlights the evolving nature of wedding celebrations in Malaysia, where traditional cultural practices continue to influence contemporary lifestyles and purchasing decisions.
For many Chinese families, preparing the matrimonial bed remains an important expression of love and blessings from family members as newlyweds prepare to establish their home together.
Through the With Love, Getha collection, the brand seeks to preserve this cultural connection while introducing a modern interpretation that combines tradition, craftsmanship, personalisation and luxury bedding.
The collection is available in Queen and King sizes, with retail prices ranging from RM8,999 to RM13,999 depending on the selected mattress model.
