  • Filem “La Luna” Bukan Sekadar Komedi Biasa, Angkat Tema Cinta & Perubahan Masa

    Dengan tema cinta yang terkenal tetapi nada dan mesej yang luar biasa, filem komedi LA LUNA, dengan beberapa pelakon terbaik negara, bersedia untuk menyambut penontonnya! Diarahkan oleh pengarah filem berbakat Singapura M. Raihan Halim, filem kerjasama antara Singapura dan Malaysia ini akan dibuka di pawagam di Singapura pada 16 November 2023, dan di seluruh Malaysia pada 9 November 2023.

    Ternyata M.Raihan Halim selaku sutradara filem ini mempunyai kedekatan yang begitu luar biasa dengan La Luna. Ujarnya, “Apabila saya menulis La Luna, saya merasakan bahawa ia adalah milik saya. Pada hari saya memberikan skrip kepada pelakon, ia menjadi milik mereka. Dan kini filem itu dibuat dan ditayangkan, ia adalah milik penonton. Ia adalah satu perjalanan yang sangat mengujakan, menyedihkan, mencabar dan akhirnya menggembirakan dan saya harap semua orang menikmatinya sama seperti saya melakukannya.”

    “ La Luna.. ia mengenai perubahan masa. Manusia patut berubah, patut berkembang. Kadang kala kalau kita tidak berubah, kita akan tersekat. Ia sangat bahaya kerana perubahan dalam kehidupan tidak dapat dielakkan,” ujar sutradara berusia 41 tahun ini.

    Menganggap ia sebuah cerita ‘labour of love’, pengalaman berada dalam situasi La Luna memberikan dirinya pelbagai emosi- gelak tawa serta momen-momen yang besar dan detik-detik berat. Namun satu harapan yang terbit dari sudut hatinya yang terdalam- agar para penonton kelak akan ketawa, kekal dengan tema yang dibawakan melalui filem ini …dan tinggalkan pawagam dengan senyuman di wajah!

    Dengan kos produksi sebanyak S$1.1 juta (RM3.5 juta), LA LUNA melatarkan sebuah kampung rekaan bernama Bras Basah, yang merupakan kawasan paling tegas di negara ini. Dengan kehadiran sebuah kedai pakaian dalam bernama ‘La Luna’ secara tiba-tiba telah menghidupkan kampung yang sunyi dan tidak bersemangat. Walaupun penduduk kampung mula menerima kehadiran pemilik kedai dengan tangan terbuka, namun, ketua kampung nekad dengan tujuannya untuk mengusir pemilik kedai tersebut dengan apa cara sekalipun!

    Sisi pemerkasaan wanita dipaparkan dengan menarik dan kemas dalam filem ini. Mesej ini yang perlu dihadam dan diperhalusi dalam momen-momen yang dipaparkan secara santai di bawah garapan M. Raihan Halim.

    Filem La Luna malah mencipta satu lagi sejarah apabila filem ini telah ditayangkan di pentas antarabangsa menerusi tayangan perdana dunia di Pesta Filem Antarabangsa Tokyo di Jepun pada 24 Oktober lalu. Pengarah telah terbang ke negara matahari terbit itu untuk menjayakan festival berkenaan. Diadakan setiap tahun di Jepun, Pesta Filem Antarabangsa Tokyo itu menghargai dan meraikan sutradara dari serata dunia. La Luna terpilih dalam kategori ‘Asian Future Section’ di mana ia dalam senarai 10 filem yang dipilih untuk bersaing bagi kategori Anugerah Filem Terbaik Akan Datang Asia.

    Malah filem ini turut masuk ke Jakarta Film Week. Pengarah, Shaheizy Sam dan Sharifh Amani diterbangkan ke Jakarta untuk sesi tayangan dan temuramah di sana.

    Filem ini bakal ditayangkan di Malaysia pada 9 November 2023 dan di Singapura pada 16 November 2023.

  • THE ISLAMIC TOURISM CENTRE’S INVOLVEMENT IN MIHAS 2023 SHINES A SPOTLIGHT ON MUSLIM-FRIENDLY TOURISM OFFERINGS

    The Islamic Tourism Centre (ITC), an agency operating under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC), is actively involved in the Malaysian International Halal Showcase (MIHAS 2023) from September 12th to 15th. This event is dedicated to highlighting Malaysia’s outstanding Muslim-friendly tourism offerings within the travel industry. You can find the ITC at Booth No. 11320 on Level 3 of Hall 11 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC).

    During the international showcase, participating partners under the ITC umbrella are Aora Spa and Wellness Jitra, Primula Beach Hotel Kuala Terengganu, Permai Hotel Kuala Terengganu and Klana Beach Resort Port Dickson.

    ITC is hopeful that the agency’s participation will bring together travel industry professionals, government officials, and key stakeholders from around the world to explore Malaysia’s diverse range of offerings that cater to all travellers.

     

    ITC will also offer an exclusive business networking session called Let’s Sembang Together on MFAR@MIHAS on 13 September located at MIHAS Corner, Level 1, Hall 2, MITEC from 10am – 1pm.   • xNOVA, MALAYSIA’S TOP ESPORTS ATHLETE, IS THE FACE OF THE NEW CAMPAIGN, WHICH GOODDAY CHARGE DEBUTS REVAMPED CAMPAIGN IN LEGITIMISING ESPORT AS ASPORT

Under Core 6 of the guideline; Application of Science and Sports Medicine in Esports, this is part of Goodday’s efforts to support the esports community by destigmatising myths surrounding esports, particularly in the area of health and fitness.

    While esports itself has grown in status in the last decade, it is still widely viewed by many as a vocation that promotes a sedentary lifestyle. However, this can’t be further from the truth. Many studies* prove the link between better physical fitness and cognitive abilities which in turn improves reaction times, a trait crucial in ensuring success for professional gamers. Like these studies, Goodday is debunking the myths surrounding esports and wants to support the push for wider acceptance from both the public and sports communities, acknowledging that esports is in fact a legitimate form of sports like any other, demanding the highest levels of physical and mental strength.

    In Malaysia, esports has garnered the country international recognition and medals. Most recently, the Malaysia esports team took home three gold medals at the Commonwealth Esports Championship held in Birmingham, England.

  • MISS COSMOWORLD MALAYSIA 2023 GRAND FINAL: TAY CHEAH TAKES THE CROWN, HEADED TO INTERNATIONAL FINALS WITH RM500,000 CASH PRIZE, AND RM1,000,000 IN PRIZES AT STAKE

    Elegance and beauty converged at the JW Marriott for the Miss CosmoWorld Malaysia 2023 grand final last weekend. The spotlight was captured by 25-year-old Tay Cheah (谢莹莹), an aspiring actress and model, as she clinched the coveted title of Miss CosmoWorld 2023. The first runner-up title was gracefully awarded to 24-year-old dancer Crystal Low (刘瀞蔚), while the third spot was secured by 27-year-old Kuala Lumpur native and IT consultant, Chin Wei Jean (陈薇菁). These winners not only received their crowns but also took home cash prizes and sponsored rewards worth almost RM350,000, accompanied by the customary sashes and gleaming trophies.

    Describing her win as a surprise, Cheah said, “I really did not expect to win tonight. I am grateful to the judges for valuing my hard work throughout the night, and I will work even harder for the grand final. My victory is a testament to every girl with ambitions in this country, that is to be confident, to love and trust themselves because they can certainly be anyone they wish to be.” Cheah’s crowning as Miss CosmoWorld Malaysia 2023 also came with a RM42,000 total cash prize along with other sponsored vouchers and items worth more than RM150,000. The Selangor-born model, who triumphed over 14 other contestants, will begin her beauty pageant camp at the Hyatt Place Kuala Lumpur and represent Malaysia to compete at the Miss CosmoWorld International 2023 world final, which will be held at the St. Regis Hotel on November 29, with prizes worth more than RM1,000,000 up for grabs.

    The first runner-up, Low, was also awarded the subsidiary titles of Miss Talent presented by Prop Buddies and Miss Charming presented by MeLife. A performing arts graduate from Sunway University, she also expressed her surprise although she believes that Cheah deserved her win, “I am surprised at winning the first runner-up and I am very grateful for this win. I couldn’t be happier for  Tay (Cheah) as she deserves the title, especially with her strong leadership and motivational support for all the girls during pageant week, and I’m excited to see her represent the women of Malaysia at the international grand final.”

    Meanwhile, Chin, who has never joined any beauty pageant before, was chuffed at her winning the second runner-up of Miss CosmoWorld Malaysia 2023. “I feel overwhelmed with gratitude. This is the first time in my life joining a beauty pageant. Winning second runner-up and two subsidiary titles, I am happy with my achievement,” said Chin. Highlighting Latin dance performance as something that she would cherish from her experience in the pageant, she was also awarded the subsidiary titles of  Miss Popularity presented by Xpaze and Miss Elegant presented by Voyager.

    Organized by CL Skin Sdn. Bhd., Miss CosmoWorld founder, Carrie Lee, emphasizes that the beauty pageant is aimed at grooming passionate local youth, enhancing their talents and skills to young women across Malaysia. “Having won a beauty pageant myself, I feel the need to give back to the community especially to women in the country and empower them so that their potentials are not restricted by the gender stereotypes that we often experience not only in this country but around the world, and this year is no different,” said Lee, who had achieved pageantry success in the past when she was crowned as Miss Chinese Cosmos 2004.

    Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) is set to embark on an exciting journey at the global Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibition (MICE) expo, IBTM World in Barcelona, Spain from the 28-30 November 2023. Teaming up with 15 industry champions, which include state bureaus, hotels, tour operators, and convention centres, Team Malaysia is primed to introduce the nation’s latest offerings, exceptional capabilities, and the dynamic spirit of the destination to a global audience.

    Mr. Zain Azrai Rashid, the Acting Chief Executive Officer of MyCEB, expressed his belief in the significance of IBTM World as a strategic platform for Malaysia to connect with the European and international market. “I have a strong conviction that IBTM World has consistently served as and will remain a vital platform for us, providing access to the European and global markets. We are excited to participate in this event once more and anticipate engaging with prominent global industry leaders.”

    MyCEB is set to use IBTM World as the international launch platform for its MyTripleE campaign, which is part of the Meet in Malaysia campaign. The MyTripleE campaign is designed to provide support and benefits for the international industry players, similar to what has been offered to domestic industry players.

    While 2023 recorded an overwhelming total of 285 business events to be held up until 2023, contributing around 904,000 number of delegates raking in a notable RM4.4 billion in estimated economic impact to the country, it is a good indication that Malaysia is getting a stronger hold of the business events industry,” added Mr. Zain.

    During their participation in IBTM World, MyCEB and the Malaysian delegation will showcase new products and developments in Malaysia that enhance the country’s offerings to the business events industry. The goal is to attract event planners and organizers to choose Malaysia as a destination for meetings, corporate events, incentives groups, conferences, and exhibitions.

    Menurut Achik Asrain yang juga bekas peserta program Lagu Cinta Kita musim ketiga, ini adalah lagu duet pertama mereka selain menyifatkan ia kerjasama yang baik.

    Lagu ini menceritakan pasangan kekasih yang tidak setia kepada pasangan sehingga membawa keretakan perhubungan yang tidak ikhlas sehingga membawa perpisahan diantara mereka. Hubungan baru yang didasari oleh kejujuran, pengertian, dan saling menghargai sebenarnya ada di depan mata mereka, hanya saja tersembunyi oleh kerumitan dan kebingungannya sendiri. Achik juga menghuraikan bahawa, lagu ini mengisahkan mengenai percintaan yang musnah akibat daripada pasangan yang tak menghargai, hanya bermanis-manis pada awal perhubungan dan ia sekadar hubungan yang penuh sandirawa dari kata-kata dusta.

    Achik meluahkan perasaan lega semasa proses rakaman lagu sangat berjalan lancar kerana dibantu oleh Eddie Hamid, seorang komposer yang cukup berpengalaman serta jurutera bunyi yang berpengalaman, Encik Amir. Proses menyiapkan lagu sangat baik dan tidak mengambil masa yang lama. Achik dan Nadia dibantu oleh individu yang memang berpengalaman dalam bidang mereka.

    Kru dan semua yang terbabit dalam penggambaran MV Sabarlah Hati ini bantu kami untuk lebih menjiwai karakter bagi menjayakan MV ini. Nadia berkata cabaran dilalui ketika proses menyiapkan lagu dan MV Sabarlah Hati adalah pengalaman berharga buat mereka. Nadia berkata, banyak perkara yang menghiburkan sewaktu bersama kru produksi sepanjang pembikinan MV ini. Dia berterima kasih pada semua yang terbabit kerana banyak membantunya. Ini merupakan satu memori yang dia takkan lupakan.

    Nadia berharap semoga lagu Sabarlah Hati dapat diterima ramai dan sekaligus melonjakkan nama mereka berdua dalam industri muzik. Semoga lagu ini dimainkan di corong radio serta di mana-mana platform digital.
