Sony Unveils Next-Generation Coach’s Headsets for NFL 2025 Season

Sony and the National Football League have announced the launch of the new NFL Coach’s Headsets, designed specifically to meet the rigorous demands of NFL sideline communication. These custom-built headsets incorporate Sony’s leading sound quality and advanced noise-cancelling technology, developed with insights from Sony’s acclaimed 1000X headphone series.

The new headsets aim to provide coaches with crystal-clear communication even in the loudest and most challenging game day environments. Troy Vincent, senior executive vice president of football operations at the NFL, highlighted the importance of reliable communication for coaches and players, describing the headset as a fusion of football innovation and game day excellence.

Matt LaFleur, head coach of the Green Bay Packers, praised Sony’s coach-first design approach, noting the headset’s clarity in noisy conditions, comfort, and durability. He expressed confidence that the headset will be a reliable tool throughout the season.

Sony Electronics president and COO Neal Manowitz shared that the development process focused heavily on listening to coaches’ needs and applying decades of audio innovation to create a product capable of delivering performance and focus under intense pressure. The headset builds upon Sony’s expertise with products like the WH-1000XM6 headphones, translating advanced noise cancellation into a practical solution for sideline use.

The headset’s noise-cancelling system was optimized through testing with crowd noise levels exceeding 100 decibels to ensure outstanding in-stadium accuracy. Additionally, a specially engineered microphone isolates and enhances the coach’s voice for clear, consistent communication.

Designed to withstand the demanding conditions of NFL sidelines, the headset is weather-resistant, able to handle rain, snow, extreme heat, and cold. It also underwent rigorous drop testing and features ergonomic design to ensure comfort during long hours and stability during intense movements.

For the 2025 NFL season, all 32 teams will be equipped with these new headsets. They will connect via Verizon Business’ Managed Private Wireless Solution through a belt pack, facilitating seamless and secure real-time communication.

This launch represents the next milestone in the longstanding collaboration between Sony and the NFL, combining cutting-edge engineering with practical, on-field insights to advance technology innovation in professional football.
