Kuala Lumpur lit up in vibrant shades of pink as Warner Music Malaysia hosted the “Play” pre-release album party to celebrate Ed Sheeran’s highly anticipated upcoming record. The event, held at the scenic rooftop of Luuma Dining at Menara Sentral Vista, welcomed more than 80 fans for a memorable evening that marked the beginning of a new musical chapter for the global superstar.
The rooftop was transformed into a pink-themed haven, with décor, ambience, and even the guests’ outfits reflecting the spirit of Sheeran’s latest project. Hosted by FLY FM announcer Rika Adrina, the night offered interactive stage games, exclusive merchandise giveaways, and energetic sets from DJ Alicia Fireheart. Against the backdrop of Kuala Lumpur’s glittering skyline, fans enjoyed light refreshments and the privilege of being among the very first to experience tracks from the new album.
“Play” represents Sheeran’s eighth studio album and signals a bold departure from his acclaimed “Mathematics” series. Speaking about the project, Sheeran revealed that it was born out of one of the darkest times in his life, explaining that he wanted to move forward by creating music filled with joy, colour, and inspiration drawn from the cultures he encountered during his tours. The result is a borderless sound blending nostalgia with global influences, from India and Persia to contemporary pop, while still retaining the heartfelt ballads that have long defined his artistry.
The 13-track album includes singles such as “Sapphire,” “Old Phone,” “Azizam,” and the current focus track “Camera.” To mark the upcoming release, Sheeran also unveiled the official video for “Camera,” starring Bridgerton actress Phoebe Dynevor. The song, co-produced by ILYA, Andrew Watt, and Louis Bell, was written for Sheeran’s wife Cherry and highlights his lyrical depth and signature ballad style. Directed by frequent collaborator Emil Nava, the video captures the innocence and beauty of early love, shot entirely on iPhone from the characters’ perspectives.

The Kuala Lumpur event was made possible through a collaboration between Warner Music Malaysia, Luuma Dining as the official venue partner, and Fly FM as the official radio partner, ensuring fan engagement and awareness around the launch.
Meanwhile, the global rollout of “Play” has been equally ambitious. Tonight at 5 p.m. BST, Sheeran is set to take over NPR’s Tiny Desk for its first-ever large-scale livestream, performing new tracks using his iconic loop station. Spotify has also hosted listening parties for premium fans, alongside pop-up events in Hong Kong, Singapore, and Manila.
With the release of “Play” drawing near, Ed Sheeran once again reaffirms his status as one of the most influential singer-songwriters of his generation, this time inviting the world to press play and join him in celebrating life, colour, and joy through music.
