GITEX GLOBAL 2024: Huawei Launches Advanced Digital and Intelligent Solutions

Huawei is making waves at GITEX GLOBAL 2024, one of the world’s largest and most influential technology exhibitions, held at the Dubai World Trade Centre. As a Diamond Sponsor, Huawei is showcasing a range of cutting-edge solutions and flagship products aimed at accelerating industrial digitalization and intelligent transformation. Under the theme “Accelerate Industrial Digitalization and Intelligence,” Huawei is presenting joint solutions with partners across a variety of industries, including public utilities, transportation, finance, electric power, oil and gas, mining, retail, education, and healthcare. The goal of these solutions is to help businesses across these sectors successfully navigate and enhance their digital transformation efforts.

During the Industrial Digital and Intelligent Transformation Summit at GITEX 2024, Li Peng, Corporate Senior Vice President and President of ICT Sales & Service at Huawei, delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing the company’s focus on leveraging its strengths to support industrial transformation. “We’re combining our strengths in networking, storage, computing, cloud, and energy,” Li said, highlighting the company’s commitment to building new digital and intelligent infrastructure.

Li Peng also discussed how Huawei is implementing the intelligent transformation reference architecture it introduced last year. This architecture has already been used to deliver solutions across industries like government, finance, electric power, transportation, manufacturing, oil and gas, and mining. “We have summarized over 100 case studies that different industry customers can use to accelerate their digital and intelligent transformation,” said Li.

The success of these solutions, according to Li, is rooted in Huawei’s strong partnerships. The company has created an open, mutually beneficial ecosystem by collaborating with local solution partners. Through initiatives such as the establishment of 14 OpenLabs around the globe, Huawei supports joint innovation with partners. In the UAE, Huawei has developed over 20 industry-specific solutions by working with more than 30 local partners. Li emphasized the importance of developing local talent and building a sustainable digital ecosystem to drive long-term success.

Another keynote speaker at the summit of Gitex Global 20204, Leo Chen, Corporate Senior Vice President and President of Enterprise Sales at Huawei, emphasized the transformative impact of next-generation technologies like AI and 5G-A on global industries. According to Chen, these technologies are key drivers of the fourth industrial revolution, set to bring a dramatic leap in productivity.

However, this transformation also comes with its share of challenges. Issues related to infrastructure, industrial applications, and talent ecosystems need to be addressed to fully realize the potential of digital and intelligent transformation. Huawei aims to tackle these challenges head-on by providing industries with AI-ready ICT infrastructure built on its full-stack capabilities in connectivity, storage, computing, and cloud.

Huawei is also helping industries overcome their specific challenges by applying advanced technologies to resolve business pain points. To further support industries in their transformation, Huawei released the “Amplifying Industrial Digitalization & Intelligence Practice” white paper, which includes more than 100 success stories from over 20 industries. This paper offers a roadmap for industries looking to adopt advanced technologies and improve their business operations.

In addition, Huawei has collaborated with IDC to develop the Global Digital Index (GDI), a new set of evaluation indicators designed to help enterprises measure and track their digital transformation progress. This comprehensive initiative reflects Huawei’s dedication to leading industrial digital and intelligent transformation.

David Shi, Vice President of ICT Marketing and Solution Sales at Huawei, emphasized the importance of solid ICT infrastructure for enterprises during his keynote speech. According to Shi, building the right foundation is critical for organizations to succeed in the digital and intelligent era. He identified two key areas of focus: accelerating the popularization of ICT infrastructure and accelerating monetization.

To make ICT infrastructure more accessible and adaptable to various industries, Huawei has established four guiding principles: easy integration, access, use, and evolution. These principles simplify the process for industries to adopt and utilize advanced ICT infrastructure. From campuses to wide-area networks (WANs) and data centers, Huawei’s solutions are designed to integrate smoothly into existing business operations and evolve alongside changing business needs.

Additionally, Huawei’s push to accelerate monetization focuses on creating value through innovation, integrating technologies, and building a vibrant partner ecosystem. By helping businesses speed up their digital and intelligent transformation, Huawei enables them to unlock new revenue streams and create long-term value.

At GITEX GLOBAL 2024, Huawei, along with its partners, unveiled a range of industry-specific solutions designed to help businesses across sectors accelerate their digital transformation. Some of the key solutions launched include:

    • National Government Cloud Solution: Designed to support the secure and efficient management of government data.

These solutions are designed to provide businesses with step-by-step guidance and tools to succeed in the intelligent era.

A significant aspect of Huawei’s strategy is its collaboration with industry partners. Huawei’s “SHAPE” framework outlines its approach to supporting partners in five areas: sustaining leadership, advancing joint innovation, promoting capability development, enhancing the partner cooperation experience, and creating growth opportunities.

Ernest Zhang, President of Global Partner and Commercial & Distribution for Enterprise Sales at Huawei, underscored the company’s focus on fostering a customer-centric culture built on integrity and shared benefits. Huawei is dedicated to collaborating with partners to create a healthy business environment and help customers achieve their digital transformation goals.

In North America, Huawei works with partners to create tailored solutions that enhance productivity and foster intelligent business growth. In the small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) market, Huawei has implemented a partner-led strategy, offering solutions designed to meet the specific needs of smaller businesses.

Huawei’s exhibition at GITEX GLOBAL 2024 spans over 1,400 square meters and features a wide array of digital and intelligent transformation solutions. • Unleashing Talent in the Digital Era: Powerful Insights from Choh Yau Meng, VP of Human Resources at Huawei Malaysia – 2024

Unleashing Talent in the Digital Era: Powerful Insights from Choh Yau Meng, VP of Human Resources at Huawei Malaysia – 2024

The landscape of work is evolving rapidly, with predictions indicating that digital job opportunities worldwide will rise from 73 million to 92 million by 2030. As technology continues to advance at a breakneck pace, digital skills have become the new currency in today’s job market.

In this dynamic environment, the definition of valuable talent has shifted significantly. No longer can a mere paper qualification alone determine a candidate’s value. Instead, we are entering an era where an intelligent, interconnected world demands high-caliber talent with innovative ideas and technological prowess. Companies of all sizes are increasingly seeking individuals with interdisciplinary skills who can drive future advancements.

    Lifelong Learning

At Huawei, our strength lies in our people. Our recruitment process rigorously assesses candidates beyond their academic qualifications. Once onboard, employees are paired with mentors and introduced to the company’s core values and culture.

Retention is just as critical as recruitment. Over the years, Huawei has earned a reputation as a top employer not only for how we support our employees but also for our commitment to growing alongside them. We are honored to have been recognized as Malaysia’s Most Preferred Employer in the Electronics category by the GRADUAN Brand Awards for two consecutive years. Additionally, we are among the top choices for graduates in the Talentbank Graduates’ Choice Awards 2024 and have received accolades in the HR Asia Best Companies to Work for in Asia 2023 and HR Asia Digital Transformation Awards 2023.

We are committed to continuous learning. All Huawei employees are required to complete a specified number of hours annually on our MOOC platform, “iLearning,” which offers a range of courses from soft skills to professional technical training. This platform, featuring content from Huawei employees, renowned professors, and industry experts, serves as a comprehensive learning, training, and examination resource.

We also strive to contribute to the broader community by fostering local talent. Through our 39 ICT Academies in collaboration with Malaysian higher education institutions, we provide training in Huawei’s ICT technologies, encourage certification, and develop practical skills for the ICT industry. Under the Huawei ASEAN Academy, we have surpassed our goal of training 50,000 digital talents in Malaysia by 2025, having already developed 54,000 talents.

Malaysia: Aiming to Become ASEAN’s Digital Hub

The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the shift towards digital transformation, both in Malaysia and globally. Malaysia is well-positioned to become a regional leader in the digital economy, thanks to its multicultural and highly educated workforce, high literacy rates, balanced gender ratios, and a strong pipeline of young talent.

To establish itself as a leading talent destination, Malaysia must focus on nurturing and retaining talent. Bridging the gap between required skills and market demand is essential, making academia-industry partnerships vital for aligning educational outcomes with industry needs.

Creating an environment conducive to talent growth is crucial for Malaysia to become the region’s “digital tiger.” Success for organizations depends on cultivating a thriving workforce, and for nations, industries powered by skilled individuals are a major strength.

Digital transformation is no longer optional; it is imperative. Technology itself won’t replace jobs; rather, it is those who can effectively harness this technology who will drive change.

At Huawei, we started by enhancing talent within our own organization and have extended these efforts beyond our company. We have built partnerships, set talent standards, and promoted skill development to create robust educational, industry, and public talent ecosystems. Together, we can strengthen this ecosystem and advance Malaysia’s position as ASEAN’s digital and talent capital.

Chief Executive Officer of Huawei Malaysia Mr Simon Sun expressed deep gratitude towards the company’s suppliers, recalling how its network of local suppliers had rallied during the height of the pandemic to ensure products and services were delivered on time.

“We were able to remain steadfast, meet every demand and more importantly, nurture and grow the relationships we have with our customers and business stakeholders,” he said in his welcome speech.

He also reaffirmed Huawei Malaysia’s commitment to working with local suppliers, stating, “Huawei Malaysia believes in our slogan, ‘In Malaysia, for Malaysia’. That is why we are proud to say that we believe in using 100% local suppliers.”

“We believe this is the right way to build a resilient ecosystem. Having a valuable, consistent, and sustainable chain of suppliers and partners enables companies like us to navigate new realities and meet the demands of the day,” he added.

Mr Simon Sun also emphasised that an integral part of building the local ecosystem is the cultivation of digital talent. That is the reason, he said, that Huawei has increased its investments in digital talent development with a pledge of 20 million ringgit in investments over the last three years in the country.

Themed “Together Towards a Sustainable and Digital Malaysia”, over 500 guests were at the convention, including key industry players, stakeholders, decision-makers, partners, and industry experts, creating a dynamic environment for exchanging innovative ideas and expertise across critical ICT domains.

Fifty-eight awards were presented to Huawei Malaysia’s local partners and suppliers who demonstrated excellence and outstanding achievements. Among the companies awarded for its excellent team leaders were Jalur Milenium Sdn Bhd, MTK Communication Sdn Bhd, B-Band Communications Sdn Bhd, C&C Universal Engineering Sdn Bhd, Advance Industrial Solutions Sdn Bhd and East Field Technologies Sdn Bhd.

At the event, Huawei Malaysia presented an overview of its key ongoing projects, offered insights into market prospects, and highlighted potential areas for collaboration with its partners.

  • Catalyzing Malaysia’s Green Future: Huawei Digital Power’s FusionSolar Leading Innovation in the PV Industry in 2024

Catalyzing Malaysia’s Green Future: Huawei Digital Power’s FusionSolar Leading Innovation in the PV Industry in 2024

Huawei Digital Power’s latest FusionSolar C&I Smart PV&ESS Solution was showcased for the first time in Malaysia at the Malaysia PV&ESS Safety Forum & Product Launch 2024.

The event, organized by Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Huawei Malaysia), attracted more than 250 participants and stakeholders from the energy, photovoltaic (PV), and energy storage industries (ESS).

Huawei Digital Power, a leader in the PV industry, showcased its innovative capabilities at the forum. They presented compelling evidence on the potential of PV as a universal form of energy that can drive Malaysia towards carbon neutrality, environmental stewardship, and sustainability.

During the event, participants from various sectors, including government agencies, enterprise representatives, and industry professionals, were provided with a comprehensive introduction to the FusionSolar C&I Smart PV&ESS Solution.

The FusionSolar C&I Smart PV&ESS Solution is poised to revolutionize safety standards in commercial and industrial (C&I) application scenarios such as shopping malls, supermarkets, factories, and official parks. This innovative solution offers comprehensive protection across failure through its three-dimensional safety solutions: device safety, asset safety, and personal safety.

During his welcome address, Mr Simon Sun, Chief Executive Officer of Huawei Malaysia, emphasized the commitment of Huawei Digital Power to drive innovation in renewable energy. The company aims to provide sustainable solutions to its customers and address environmental challenges.

“In 2023, Huawei delivered 145 gigawatts (GW) of solar inverters globally, cumulatively achieving 445GW and generating 1,110.6 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity, equivalent to the planting of 755 million trees. Looking ahead, it is important to focus on improving energy storage solutions while also ensuring that power generation assets remain safe, reliable, and cost-effective,” he said.

Huawei Digital Power’s approach to strategically facilitate Malaysia’s transition from a high-carbon to low-carbon nation integrates digital technology (Bit), electronic power technology (Watt), thermal management technology (Heat), and ESS management technology (Battery), collectively referred to as the “4T” technologies.

“As PV energy generation improves and the costs of solar panels decrease due to growing market supply and demand, the era of PV and Energy Storage (PV+ ESS) parity is on the horizon. FusionSolar, the integration of battery and solar, is gradually becoming the renewable/green energy of choice of the masses, helping to reduce the dependence on diesel generators, and lessening economic as well as environmental impacts. This means combining solar power with energy storage will become the most prudent and universal form of power,” said Mr Sun.

In addition to the introduction to the FusionSolar C&I Smart PV&ESS Solution, the forum explored three main topics, namely: Overview of Malaysia’s Solar and Energy Storage Landscape, Overview of Potential Safety Hazards in PV&ESS Installations, and a Deep Dive into Securing a Greener Malaysia.

Aligning with the Malaysian Government’s objectives of reducing carbon emissions by at least 50 percent by 2030 and achieving full carbon neutrality by 2050, Huawei is committed to continuous innovation and forming strategic partnerships to catalyse the adoption of advanced renewable energy solutions that will yield optimal ways to build a low-carbon and circular economy for Malaysia.
