From Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok to Jakarta — great art transcends all boundaries.

The vibrant spirit and colours of Southeast Asia came alive at MR D.I.Y. Plus, Mid Valley Kuala Lumpur, as MR D.I.Y. officially announced the winners of its inaugural MR D.I.Y. Regional Art Competition, held under the inspiring theme “Identity & Diversity.” This first-ever regional edition marked a new milestone for MR D.I.Y.’s long-standing art initiative, bringing together creative talents from Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand in a celebration of culture, connection, and shared identity.

The MR D.I.Y. Regional Art Exhibition showcases exceptional artworks by national winners from the three participating countries, each selected to represent their homeland at the regional level. Open to the public from 12 to 17 November 2025 at MR D.I.Y. Plus, Mid Valley Kuala Lumpur, the exhibition highlights the region’s artistic richness through pieces that explore personal and cultural narratives on identity, heritage, and diversity. Each artwork offers a unique perspective, reflecting Southeast Asia’s dynamic blend of traditions and contemporary creativity.

A panel of nine distinguished judges from Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia convened on 30 October 2025 to evaluate the finalists’ works based on creativity, originality, and interpretation of the theme. The Malaysian judges included Ivan Gabriel, Bingley Sim, and Liong Mei Yin; Thailand was represented by Vichaya Mukdamanee, Subhachog Jumsai Na Ayudhya, and Watjanasin Charuwattanakitti; while Ristyo Hartanto, Budhy Irawati, and Haryadi Tandio formed the Indonesian panel.

The Grand Prize (Public Category) was awarded to Mohd Al-Khuzairie from Malaysia for his evocative piece “In the Mood for Love: Time and Memory,” while the Grand Prize (Educational Category) went to Diandra Lamees from Indonesia for her expressive artwork “Upacara Imlek Versiku.” Both artists were commended for their powerful storytelling and emotional depth that captured the spirit of the competition.

Speaking at the ceremony, MR D.I.Y. Group Chief Executive Officer, Adrian Ong, shared the company’s vision behind the initiative: “This competition represents more than just art – it’s a celebration of who we are as a region. By connecting artists from different countries, we hope to inspire more creativity, understanding, and appreciation of the diverse cultures that make up Southeast Asia.”

Launched in 2022, the MR D.I.Y. Art Competition began as a national platform to nurture homegrown artistic talent and foster an inclusive creative community in Malaysia. Its success and overwhelming response encouraged MR D.I.Y. to expand the initiative regionally, reflecting the brand’s own growth across Southeast Asia. Through this platform, MR D.I.Y. continues to champion arts and culture as vital expressions of identity, creativity, and unity.
