Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) and Edaran Otomobil Nasional Berhad (EON Berhad) have formalised a strategic collaboration through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), marking a significant step towards strengthening Penang’s business events ecosystem. The partnership underscores a shared vision to drive innovation, sustainable mobility solutions and cross-industry collaboration, while further positioning Penang as a preferred destination for conferences, conventions, exhibitions and corporate events.
The collaboration is designed to create stronger opportunities for industry engagement, business networking and corporate brand visibility, reinforcing the role of strategic partnerships in supporting the continued growth of Penang’s business events industry. By bridging the business events and automotive sectors, the initiative aims to introduce new dimensions of value creation and innovation within the ecosystem, while elevating the overall experience for event organisers, delegates and corporate stakeholders.
A key highlight of the collaboration is its alignment with Penang’s sustainability agenda through the proposed integration of Euromobil’s electric vehicles (EVs) as the official mobility partner for conferences and business events across the state. The initiative is expected to promote greener event operations while encouraging wider adoption of environmentally responsible practices within the business events sector. By incorporating electric mobility into major events, Penang continues to demonstrate its commitment towards building a future-ready and environmentally conscious destination.

Chief Minister of Penang, YAB Chow Kon Yeow, welcomed the collaboration, describing it as a meaningful move that aligns with the state’s long-term vision for sustainable economic growth and innovation. According to him, the introduction of electric vehicles into the business events ecosystem not only supports greener transportation solutions but also enhances the overall visitor and delegate experience, strengthening Penang’s reputation as a leading destination for regional and international business events.
PCEB Chief Executive Officer, Ashwin Gunasekeran, highlighted the growing importance of strategic alliances in driving industry advancement. He noted that the collaboration reflects how partnerships between different sectors can unlock new opportunities for innovation, engagement and market visibility. Through this partnership, Penang is expected to further reinforce its standing within the regional and global business events landscape while creating additional value for stakeholders across multiple industries.
Beyond sustainability and mobility solutions, the partnership is also anticipated to enhance brand engagement and provide meaningful opportunities for participation in conferences, exhibitions, forums and various industry-driven programmes hosted in Penang. As the state continues to strengthen its position as one of Asia’s prominent business events destinations, collaborations such as this showcase how industry cooperation can contribute to long-term development, economic resilience and sustainable growth.
The PCEB–EON Berhad collaboration represents more than a strategic agreement; it signals a forward-looking approach to shaping the future of Penang’s business events industry through innovation, sustainability and purposeful partnerships.
