In a stunning display of engineering brute force, global AI ecosystem leader HONOR has shattered records by using its upcoming foldable smartphone, the HONOR Magic V6, to tow a 1.25-tonne Diamond DA42 aircraft for 150 meters across the tarmac. Staged at the SkyPark Regional Aviation Centre, the spectacular stunt officially secured an ASIA Record for the “Heaviest Aircraft Towed by a Foldable Smartphone.” Serving as a dramatic preview ahead of its Malaysian launch on June 4, 2026, the ultra-slim 8.75mm device also pulled a Ferrari sports car for 30 meters and was used as a fully functional pull-up bar, emerging from the trials completely unscathed and in perfect working condition.
This incredible physical resilience stems directly from the HONOR Super Steel Hinge, which boasts an industry-leading tensile strength of 2,800 MPa, surpassing the structural steel pillars used in modern passenger cars. Designed to withstand intensive daily use, the hinge has cleared 500,000 folding cycles, ensuring over 13 years of reliable performance, while an innovative AI-assisted bionic cushioning architecture disperses impact forces to protect complex internal components from drops.
The external face of the smartphone matches the internal chassis for pure durability, utilizing the next-generation HONOR Anti-Scratch Nano Crystal Shield. Forged with a 5,600-layer silicon nitride coating, it delivers a massive 10-times improvement in drop resistance and a 15-times increase in scratch protection, even walking away unmarked after a high-intensity wire brush drill test. Unfolding the device reveals an expansive, near-zero crease canvas powered by the HONOR Magic Diamond Screen with flexible Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG).
Rounding out its unprecedented durability portfolio, the Magic V6 is the first foldable to concurrently achieve IP68 and IP69 dust and water-resistance ratings, meaning it can handle high-pressure water jets and fresh water submersion up to 1.5 meters deep.
Malaysian consumers eager to secure the next-generation flagship can choose from four distinct colourways: Ferghana Red, Sunrise Gold, Ivory White, and Classic Black. The official rollout will begin during a localized launch livestream scheduled for June 4, 2026, at 8:00 PM via HONOR Malaysia’s official Facebook page, with comprehensive specifications available on the brand’s official web portal.
Frankfurt, Germany — Penang continues to reinforce its standing as one of Malaysia’s leading business events destinations, supported by strong growth across high-value industries such as medical and healthcare, advanced manufacturing, electronics, digital innovation and association meetings. Backed by a mature ecosystem, strong connectivity and growing global recognition, the state is increasingly becoming a destination where business events deliver meaningful economic and industry outcomes.
In 2025, Penang recorded its strongest business events performance to date, hosting 3,391 events, a significant increase of 64.7% compared to 2,059 events in 2024. The state also welcomed 451,198 delegates, while total room nights climbed to 824,505, reflecting impressive year-on-year growth of 47.8% and 47.6% respectively. These activities collectively generated an estimated RM1.91 billion in Economic Event Impact (EEI), highlighting the substantial value business events contribute to the state’s economy.
Beyond the events themselves, this growth continues to benefit a wide network of stakeholders including hotels, SMEs, venue operators, transport providers, technical suppliers and service industries, reinforcing the sector’s wider economic influence.
Penang’s strong performance is supported by its ongoing development as a business events-ready destination. Improved accessibility, growing accommodation offerings and expanding industry capabilities have strengthened the state’s appeal for high-value meetings, conventions, incentive travel and exhibitions.
The business events landscape in Penang is also closely aligned with strategic sectors such as advanced manufacturing, medical sciences, technology and innovation. This alignment strengthens Penang’s role as a platform for knowledge-sharing, innovation exchange and business expansion.
Looking ahead to 2026, the Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) has introduced the “Penang Inspiring Meetings” campaign, aimed at further elevating Penang’s profile in conjunction with the national Visit Malaysia 2026 initiative. The campaign underscores Penang’s ambition to attract more business travellers, conference delegates and incentive groups while highlighting the unique strengths of both the island and mainland regions.
This year marks a significant milestone for PCEB as the bureau celebrates its 10th anniversary. Since its establishment in 2016, PCEB has played a vital role in positioning Penang as a preferred regional destination for business events.
As it enters its next chapter, PCEB remains committed to enhancing Penang’s international reputation, strengthening strategic partnerships and driving sustainable industry growth.
Part of this long-term vision includes BE Associate, a newly launched talent development programme designed to cultivate future-ready professionals for the business events industry. Through monthly seminars, practical learning opportunities, volunteer placements and direct industry exposure, the programme aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry expectations while building a sustainable talent pipeline.
Penang’s 2026 business events calendar will be anchored by two major industry platforms designed to strengthen regional and international engagement.
The Penang International Travel Exchange (PITE) 2026, taking place from 27 to 29 October 2026, will continue its role as Malaysia’s only homegrown business events and travel trade platform. Designed as a dynamic marketplace, PITE connects international and regional buyers with Malaysian sellers through structured business-to-business (B2B) engagements, fostering collaboration, networking and deal-making opportunities.
For 2026, the platform will expand into a more internationally focused showcase, welcoming exhibitors beyond Malaysia while encouraging greater participation from convention bureaus, Professional Conference Organisers (PCOs) and Professional Exhibition Organisers (PEOs) worldwide.
Complementing this is BE @ Penang 2026, themed “BE The Multiverse,” which will be held from 10 to 11 December 2026 at the Setia SPICE Convention Centre. Now entering its 10th edition, the conference is recognised as Malaysia’s premier business events conference and serves as a leading platform for industry dialogue, innovation and strategic exchange.
The 2026 edition explores a new reality for the business events sector — one shaped by intersecting industries, emerging technologies, multinational corporations and sustainability-driven innovation. More than just a conference, BE @ Penang offers a collaborative environment for forward-thinking discussions and cross-sector partnerships that shape the future of the industry.
Driven by strong sectoral foundations, strategic campaigns and future-focused initiatives, Penang enters 2026 with clear momentum and a strengthened vision for growth.
Through continued efforts led by PCEB, Penang remains committed to positioning itself as a destination where business events not only stimulate economic growth but also strengthen industry capabilities, foster innovation and create long-term impact for both Penang and Malaysia.
The Taiwan IP Expo 2026 has officially arrived at Sunway Pyramid, and it is unleashing a vibrant new wave of creative energy across the region. Organised by the Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA) in close partnership with the Malaysia Creative Intellectual Property Association (MYCIP), this high-octane, five-day event at the Oasis Foyer and Lobby is far more than a typical exhibition.
It represents a dynamic cultural and economic convergence, utilizing Malaysia’s unique position as the ultimate regional gateway to propel Taiwanese original intellectual properties (IPs) into the fast-growing Southeast Asian market.
Stepping onto the expo floor, visitors are instantly immersed in a world where imagination meets commercial power. This year’s showcase brings 12 of Taiwan’s most celebrated original character IPs straight to Malaysian fans and industry leaders. The lineup features major international success stories, including Kittensisland—the pet-inspired breakout star that dominated sales at last year’s Malaysian debut—alongside Takokuma, an animated property that has already successfully penetrated the competitive markets of Japan and South Korea. Also anchoring the event is the Kuroro Space Exploration Team, a brand that has built a massive, loyal fan base through books and merchandise spanning Singapore, Thailand, and Australia.
The true catalyst for this year’s fresh wave of collaboration is the debut of the Taiwan–Malaysia Crossover Art Exhibition. In a groundbreaking move, 12 Taiwanese original characters have been handed over to 12 of Malaysia’s finest creative minds to be completely reinterpreted through a local, cross-cultural lens. Renowned Malaysian creators like Bichi Mao, the team behind the popular Relaxed Comics, and designer Jefferson Ng have fused their distinct styles with Taiwan’s top IPs.
This cross-border synergy highlights the deep cultural compatibility between the two nations, with TAICCA Deputy CEO Yang Chung-Tian and MYCIP President Lau Shaw Ming both emphasizing that this initiative lays the groundwork for a two-way creative highway, opening doors for Malaysian IPs to scale up in Taiwan in the near future.
Behind the colorful character meet-and-greets and exclusive merchandise lines, a sophisticated business ecosystem is hard at work. The 2026 expo has significantly expanded its B2B business matching sessions, drawing a record number of regional stakeholders from the retail, licensing, publishing, and digital media sectors.
The narrative this year has shifted decisively from simple brand showcases to deep market localization. A prime example is Kittensisland, which is actively developing region-specific products inspired by Malaysia’s rich, multicultural festive traditions, proving that character IPs are evolving into multi-dimensional lifestyle brands that drive genuine consumer loyalty.
For the public, Sunway Pyramid has been transformed into an interactive playground open daily until May 24, 2026. Visitors can dive into cutting-edge AR-powered games, catch lively mascot appearances, attend insightful creator sharing panels, and participate in a special spend-and-redeem campaign hosted alongside the mall. Whether you are a business enthusiast tracking the next big licensing trend or a fan of world-class design, the Taiwan IP Expo 2026 is a thrilling testament to what happens when two creative powerhouses join forces to redefine the regional creative economy.

Sarawak continues to strengthen its global standing in the business events industry with its return to IMEX Frankfurt 2026 for the fourth consecutive year. Marking a new chapter in its journey as the Legacy Capital of Business Events in Malaysia and Borneo, Sarawak is moving beyond traditional destination promotion towards a broader strategy centred on industry development, long-term impact and sustainable growth.
Held under the theme “Driving Impact Together”, Sarawak’s participation at IMEX Frankfurt reflects its commitment to collaboration, innovation, sustainability and legacy-driven development aligned with the state’s Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030). The state’s evolving vision is backed by major investments in infrastructure and connectivity, including the planned expansion of the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK2) and the introduction of regional airline AirBorneo.
Expected to be completed by 2028, BCCK2 will significantly boost Sarawak’s capacity to host larger international conventions and exhibitions, while AirBorneo, alongside the growth of international hotel brands, is set to improve regional accessibility and reinforce the state’s business events ecosystem. These developments reflect Sarawak’s ambition to position itself not only as a venue provider but as a strategic partner capable of delivering long-term value through business events.
Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak) is also introducing “Legacy Wonders”, a new approach to corporate meetings and incentive travel that focuses on culture, nature, adventure, gastronomy, wellness and kindness. Through immersive experiences, community engagement and responsible tourism, the initiative aims to connect delegates more deeply with Sarawak’s heritage, environment and local communities while creating meaningful social and economic legacies.
According to Datu Hii Chang Kee, Deputy State Secretary (Operation) and Chairman of BESarawak, Sarawak’s presence at IMEX Frankfurt today is no longer solely about visibility on the global stage. Instead, the state is encouraging industry players worldwide to contribute to PCDS 2030 through strategic collaboration, sustainability initiatives and long-term development opportunities. He emphasised that Sarawak has evolved into a destination partner that works closely with organisers to maximise event impact through investment, innovation, sector growth and wider industry collaboration.
Supporting this ecosystem is the Academic Mobility Programme (AMP), an initiative that links universities, industry stakeholders and international partners through technical visits, knowledge exchanges and collaborative learning opportunities aligned with Sarawak’s priority sectors. Acting BESarawak Chief Executive Officer Jason Tan Chin Foo noted that programmes such as AMP strengthen Sarawak’s position by combining hard and soft infrastructure investments while creating opportunities for academia and industry experts to contribute towards community wellbeing and sustainable development.
Leading the Sarawak Pavilion at IMEX Frankfurt, BESarawak is joined by representatives from the state’s tourism and business events ecosystem, including Borneo Adventure, Borneo Convention Centre Kuching, Cat City Holidays, Mercure Miri City Centre Hotel, Pullman Kuching Hotel, Pullman Miri Waterfront Hotel and Wah Tung Travel. Local food and beverage partners, The Bibber’s Tale and the Culinary Heritage and Arts Society Sarawak (CHASS), are also showcasing Sarawak’s culinary identity to the international business events community.

Through its continued participation, Sarawak is reinforcing its position as a forward-looking destination committed to creating lasting impact through business events.
Menurut pengarahnya, Ghaz Abu Bakar, Konspirasi bukan sekadar filem aksi biasa tetapi sebuah gambaran tentang bagaimana kuasa, ketamakan dan pengkhianatan mampu meruntuhkan kepercayaan.
