HONOR Unveils Magic9 Pro Max at Venice Film Festival, Featuring ARRI Imaging Technology

HONOR has unveiled the HONOR Magic9 Pro Max at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, marking the first public appearance of the upcoming flagship smartphone and highlighting the continued development of its imaging partnership with ARRI.

ARRI, which has more than a century of experience in the film industry, has contributed to the development of cinema from the early days of film to modern digital camera systems. The company’s achievements have been recognised with 20 Scientific and Technical Awards from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

The Magic9 Pro Max features a moss green rear finish and an ARRI-branded camera module. Its lens arrangement follows design elements inspired by ARRI’s professional cinema cameras.

The HONOR–ARRI partnership focuses on adapting selected elements of professional cinematic image science and production workflows for smartphone users. Among the technologies being introduced are ARRI LogC3, ARRI Wide Gamut 3 and ARRI Looks.

These technologies are designed to provide greater control throughout the imaging process. ARRI LogC3 helps retain highlight and shadow information for post-production, while ARRI Wide Gamut 3 provides a wider colour space. ARRI Looks allows creators to apply controlled cinematic colour styles.

The collaboration brings together HONOR’s capabilities in mobile imaging and processing with ARRI’s expertise in professional cinema, with the shared aim of making cinematic filmmaking tools more accessible to a wider range of creators.

The upcoming HONOR Magic9 Series is scheduled to launch first in China in late September and will also showcase ARRI imaging capabilities.

HONOR’s latest appearance at Venice follows its participation in other major international film events, including the Cannes Film Festival and Shanghai International Film Festival. The company has previously showcased the HONOR Robot Phone at these events, highlighting its continued focus on advancing mobile filmmaking.
