    Wing Plate: A key component, the wing plate, enables the smooth folding and unfolding of the device. Positioned between the hinge and display, it aligns the internal components and shields the screen from potential mechanical damage. Though ultra-thin, the wing plate is constructed from a strong material that ensures stability during operation.

    Hinge: The hinge acts as the central axis, allowing the phone to fold and unfold efficiently. As foldable devices become slimmer, the need for advanced hinge technology grows. The Galaxy Z Fold6 features a smaller, slimmer hinge that maintains durability thanks to reinforced materials. This improvement has enabled Samsung to design an ultra-portable device that is easy to carry anywhere.

    Front Case: The front case of the Z Fold6 is thinner and lighter than its predecessor but retains its strength, made from Enhanced Armor Aluminum to protect the internal components. The device is also IP48-rated, making it resistant to water, so users can safely use the Z Fold6 in rainy conditions.

    Vapor Chamber: To prevent overheating, the Galaxy Z Fold6 is equipped with a vapor chamber that is approximately 1.6 times larger than that of the Galaxy Z Fold5. This larger vapor chamber helps diffuse heat more effectively, allowing the device to maintain optimal performance.

    Main Battery: A slimmer main battery has been installed in the Galaxy Z Fold6 to accommodate its sleek design. Unlike traditional bar-type smartphones, the Z Fold6’s main battery is split into two parts to fit the device’s form factor.

    Sub Battery: Located opposite the main battery, the sub battery was also reduced in size to support the slim profile of the Galaxy Z Fold6.

    Main PBA: The printed board assembly (PBA) serves as the brain of the device, housing key components like the application processor and memory. To achieve a thinner design, Samsung transitioned from a multilayer to a single-layer main PBA.

    Sub PBA: The sub PBA manages the display and speaker operations. Samsung utilized a slim printed circuit board (PCB) for the sub PBA to maintain the device’s thin profile.

    Back Cover: The final stage of the manufacturing process involves the back cover, which protects the internal components and complements the phone’s sleek aesthetic. Made from Corning’s Gorilla® Glass Victus® 2, the back cover ensures that the device is both durable and stylish.

    Sub Display: Offering a more balanced, horizontally wider screen ratio, the sub display on the Galaxy Z Fold6 greatly improves the usability of the foldable device. With six generations of foldable innovation, the pocket-sized smartphone has become incredibly versatile. Its sleek design and advanced Galaxy AI capabilities offer a mobile experience that prioritises the user’s creativity.

    This adaptability arises from cutting-edge technology and a design that thoughtfully caters to users’ lifestyles and requirements. Samsung Newsroom decided to dissect the Galaxy Z Flip6 to gain a more detailed understanding of its various components.

    1. Main Display

    When users unfold the device, they see a Dynamic AMOLED screen with unrivaled picture quality. Photos, videos, games and other content come to life in vivid detail. The main display must be able to resist external shocks and restore its original form when the device is unfolded. Those functions have been enhanced on the Galaxy Z Flip6 with new materials and design techniques that have both durability and flexibility.

    Notably, the crease along the folded area is much less pronounced in the Galaxy Z Flip6 compared to earlier models. Besides being stacked with protective film and a more flexible protective layer, the Galaxy Z Flip6’s main display also boasts a more resilient Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) — having increased in thickness by 60%. In addition, high-efficiency organic materials and a new coating technique on the panel with lower reflectivity maximise usage time and make the screen easier to see when outside with a peak brightness that has been boosted from 1,750 to 2,600nits.

    1. Hinge

    Samsung’s top-notch proprietary hinge technology is what gives the Galaxy Z Flip6 its slim design and a smooth folding experience. When the device is folded, four drive shafts fold the display into the shape of a water droplet and keep the two screens together for a seamless fit. The integrated hinge module features a symmetrical dual-rail structure that evenly distributes external shocks. The device can be used while fully folded and unfolded, or unfolded at various angles between 75 and 115 degrees. FlexMode allows users to prop up the phone at any angle to watch videos or take photos with no need for a phone stand or tripod.

    1. Hinge Cover and Case

    The Galaxy Z Flip’s hinge cover and case are made of Enhanced Armor Aluminum, making them more resistant to scratches and damage. The luxurious colours that elevate the foldable’s aesthetics come from an optimised anodising coating process, and the use of recycled materials in the device captures the company’s concern for the environment.

    1. Vapour Chamber

    The Galaxy Z Flip6 is the first in the Z Flip series to feature a vapour chamber. Vapour chambers diffuse heat to prevent smartphones from overheating. The larger the vapour chamber, the more effectively it can dissipate heat and allow devices to maintain stable performance. Samsung managed to include a large vapour chamber in the foldable.

    1. Main Battery

    The Galaxy Z Flip6 has a battery capacity of 4,000mAh. Samsung used a molding technique on the main battery protection circuits to minimise the size of the protection board, making it possible to increase battery capacity by maximising the space inside the device.

    1. Sub Battery

    More energy-dense than before, the sub battery improves the Galaxy Z Flip6’s battery performance even further.

    1. Main PBA

    The brain of a smartphone, the printed board assembly (PBA) houses core parts such as the memory and processor. The Galaxy Z Flip6 is the Galaxy Z Flip series’ most compact model by applying a stacked main PBA with highly integrated parts.

    1. Sub PBA

    The sub PBA, located on the charging terminal and speaker side, supports various radio frequency bands and the internationally standardised USB Type-C connector. It is also equipped with a low-noise Micro Electro Mechanical System (MEMS) microphone that facilitates accurate speech recognition.

    Samsung Galaxy has a built-in solution to this problem: Quick Share’s Private Sharing, a privacy-preserving file-sharing function that lets you share your data with peace of mind.

    With Private Sharing, you and you alone own the data. You can ensure that only the designated recipients can open the files you send – no one else. You can also set permissions and expiration dates for the data, so it’s only viewable for a limited amount of time. Further, you can give read-only access without the ability to re-share; revoke the data access whenever you like; restrict screenshotting, and see when the recipient received and opened the file.

    Private Sharing makes it safe and easy to share your content, and you can share up to 20 files at once with a total size of under 200MB. And of course, all your files are securely and fully encrypted when shared, courtesy of blockchain-based encryption technology.

    To use Private Sharing, select the file you want to send and tap the Share icon. Tap Quick Share, followed by the three dots for more options in the top right corner. Then select Turn on Private Sharing. Once the message has been sent, you can check what you’ve sent and change the expiration date or revoke sharing permissions.

    No more worries about misfiring a private photo or file, or having your information fall into the wrong hands. With Quick Share’s Private Sharing, you’re in control of your data and who you choose to share it with, and you’ll be kept up to date every step of the way.

     

    Enhanced Data Protection with End-to-End Encryption

    Here’s a moment that would make anyone panic. You receive a notification that something’s gone wrong with a website you visited, and the server where your sensitive account details are stored has been compromised.

    No one wants their data leaked. But with Galaxy’s Enhanced Data Protection, you can rest assured that your data remains secure in the Samsung Cloud.

    Starting with the Galaxy S24, Enhanced Data Protection offers additional protection for Galaxy devices when you sync or back up your data with Samsung Cloud.[1] This feature mitigates data loss via end-to-end encryption (E2EE), which ensures data can only be encrypted or decrypted on your device and cannot be seen by anyone but you. In other words, you can connect to other devices while staying secure, and your data will be kept safe even if a server is compromised or account details are stolen.

    When you activate Enhanced Data Protection, you’ll be prompted to write down a recovery code to help prevent the loss of your data in the event you lose your device.

    To use Enhanced Data Protection, open the Samsung Cloud app, tap the three dots for more options, choose Settings, and then Enhanced Data Protection. From here, you can choose to encrypt backup or synced data. Alternatively, you can open your device Settings and go to Security and Privacy to find this feature.

    End-to-end encrypted data is only accessible on devices using the Enhanced Data Protection feature, and cannot be accessed by anyone else, including Samsung.

    Samsung Connects Fans to Athletes Like Never Before at the Paris 2024 Opening Ceremony

    Whoever said an Olympic Opening Ceremony must take place within the confines of a stadium? The Olympic Games Paris 2024 commenced with a remarkable ceremony on the Seine River, marking a night of unprecedented achievements. Samsung Electronics, a Worldwide Olympic and Paralympic Partner, played a pivotal role in delivering the groundbreaking innovation that made this event truly extraordinary.

    In order to enhance the fan experience, Samsung equipped over 200 Galaxy S24 Ultra smartphones on the 85 athlete boats during the Opening Ceremony, allowing fans to get even closer to the action. The event was livestreamed using a private 5G network provided by Orange, the official mobile network provider for Paris 2024 in France.

    Viewers who tuned in to the broadcast were treated to a more intimate glimpse of the distinctive celebration of the Olympic spirit in the future host city of Paris in 2024. Viewers of the Opening Ceremony had the unique opportunity to witness the event through the eyes of the athletes, who captured and shared moments from this unforgettable ceremony using their Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition smartphones.

    Samsung collaborated with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) to create a meaningful night for athletes and fans — requiring extensive planning with various Olympic partners for real-time footage streams, seamless 5G connectivity and other technology support.

    The opening ceremony livestream is just one of several ways Samsung is sharing the excitement from Paris 2024 with the world. The sailing competition in Marseille and Victory Selfies will also bring fans closer to the Olympic Games. For a brand-new view of the sailing competition in Marseille, Samsung is installing Galaxy S24 Ultra smartphones to the boats and on the athletes’ shoulders. Furthermore, medalists can capture their emotions with Victory Selfies using the Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition provided at the podium.

    More than 100 experts, 250 phones and 360 days of testing made delivering these moments possible. The efforts to enhance the viewing experience for fans around the world were all part of Paris 2024’s vision of ‘Games Wide Open.’ Through its mobile innovations, Samsung will inspire Paris 2024 athletes and fans to keep an open mind because ‘Open always wins.’
