    The Paris 2024 Olympic Games have redefined medal ceremonies with the introduction of the groundbreaking Victory Selfie, allowing Olympians to immortalize their triumphs in a personal and memorable way. Now, in collaboration with the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), Samsung Electronics has brought this innovative concept to the Paralympic Games, giving athletes the opportunity to capture their unforgettable moments on the podium with the Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition.

    Embracing the spirit of Paris 2024’s “Games Wide Open” slogan, the Victory Selfie initiative invites Paralympians to share their extraordinary achievements through their own lenses. This initiative aims to connect athletes with fans around the world, showcasing the hard work and dedication that culminate in these life-changing moments.

    To create a more intimate atmosphere, the Victory Selfie experience took place in the Mixed Zone at select events, including Para Taekwondo and Para Athletics. This setting allowed athletes to celebrate not only their victories but also the camaraderie that defines the spirit of competition. Posing alongside their fellow medalists, Paralympians captured these milestones in stunning photographs that reflect the joy and pride of their achievements.

    To make sharing these special memories even easier, the photos were automatically uploaded to the Athlete365 app, allowing athletes to instantly connect with family, friends, and fans globally. This seamless integration ensures that every medalist can celebrate their success with their loved ones and inspire others along the way.

    Samsung Connects Fans to Athletes Like Never Before at the Paris 2024 Opening Ceremony

    Whoever said an Olympic Opening Ceremony must take place within the confines of a stadium? The Olympic Games Paris 2024 commenced with a remarkable ceremony on the Seine River, marking a night of unprecedented achievements. Samsung Electronics, a Worldwide Olympic and Paralympic Partner, played a pivotal role in delivering the groundbreaking innovation that made this event truly extraordinary.

    In order to enhance the fan experience, Samsung equipped over 200 Galaxy S24 Ultra smartphones on the 85 athlete boats during the Opening Ceremony, allowing fans to get even closer to the action. The event was livestreamed using a private 5G network provided by Orange, the official mobile network provider for Paris 2024 in France.

    Viewers who tuned in to the broadcast were treated to a more intimate glimpse of the distinctive celebration of the Olympic spirit in the future host city of Paris in 2024. Viewers of the Opening Ceremony had the unique opportunity to witness the event through the eyes of the athletes, who captured and shared moments from this unforgettable ceremony using their Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition smartphones.

    Samsung collaborated with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) to create a meaningful night for athletes and fans — requiring extensive planning with various Olympic partners for real-time footage streams, seamless 5G connectivity and other technology support.

    The opening ceremony livestream is just one of several ways Samsung is sharing the excitement from Paris 2024 with the world. The sailing competition in Marseille and Victory Selfies will also bring fans closer to the Olympic Games. For a brand-new view of the sailing competition in Marseille, Samsung is installing Galaxy S24 Ultra smartphones to the boats and on the athletes’ shoulders. Furthermore, medalists can capture their emotions with Victory Selfies using the Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition provided at the podium.

    More than 100 experts, 250 phones and 360 days of testing made delivering these moments possible. The efforts to enhance the viewing experience for fans around the world were all part of Paris 2024’s vision of ‘Games Wide Open.’ Through its mobile innovations, Samsung will inspire Paris 2024 athletes and fans to keep an open mind because ‘Open always wins.’

    Paris 2024, The Olympic medal ceremony is a truly unforgettable experience for athletes, filled with overwhelming emotions as they see their lifelong dreams come true. Nevertheless, the event has historically been documented exclusively by authorised media, with photos taken from a distance rather than by the athletes themselves.

    No longer the case. Embracing the concept of a ‘Games Wide Open’ at Paris 2024, Samsung is lending a hand to athletes in capturing and exchanging unique and intimate moments of triumph on the podium with the Victory Selfie powered by Galaxy.

    For the first time in Olympic Games history, Paris 2024, the athletes at Paris 2024 are capturing their medal ceremonies from a unique angle. As they stand on the podium, they are handed the Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition, allowing them to take a Victory Selfie to commemorate their momentous achievement of receiving an Olympic medal. The selfies have been effortlessly and seamlessly uploaded to the Athlete365 portal, allowing athletes to share their experiences in a whole new way. This aligns perfectly with Samsung’s philosophy of embracing openness, which fosters new perspectives and endless possibilities.

    “To be able to share the moment of achieving my dream of winning a medal with my fans, family and friends around the world — through my own perspective — was incredible,” said Team Samsung Galaxy member Rayssa Leal (Skateboarding, Brazil). “It not only amplified a moment I’ll never forget but also celebrated the camaraderie beyond the competition as my fellow medalists and I took the Victory Selfie together on the podium.”
