    The Real Cromok”: Konsert Bersejarah yang Menghidupkan Kembali Legasi Band Thrash Metal Malaysia

    Pada 7 Disember 2024, satu peristiwa bersejarah dalam dunia muzik thrash metal Malaysia telah berlaku di Zepp Kuala Lumpur. Band thrash metal ikonik, Cromok, akan mengadakan sebuah konsert yang penuh kejutan, “The Real Cromok”. Konsert ini bukan sekadar sebuah persembahan biasa, tetapi merupakan satu perjalanan muzik yang mengimbau kembali detik-detik penting dalam sejarah band ini. Yang lebih menarik, ia turut menampilkan dua gitaris legenda Hillary Ang dan Man Keedal bersama Karl dan ahli-ahli asal Cromok.

    Salah satu tarikan utama konsert “The Real Cromok” adalah kembalinya Hillary Ang setelah 24 tahun meninggalkan band ini. Hillary, yang menggantikan Karl pada tahun 1999, memainkan peranan penting dalam penghasilan beberapa album penting Cromok, termasuk album yang memperkenalkan banyak peminat kepada band ini, iaitu “Mean, Meaner, Meanest”. Kembalinya Hillary ke dalam keluarga Cromok bakal menghidupkan kembali kenangan lama para peminat, terutamanya dengan gandingan pertama kali bersama Karl di atas pentas dalam lebih dua dekad.

    Selain itu, penampilan Man Keedal dalam konsert ini juga menjadi momen yang ditunggu-tunggu. Walaupun hanya pernah merakamkan gitar solo untuk lagu “Misery” dalam album “Forever in Time” pada 1993, Man Keedal tidak pernah tampil secara langsung dengan Cromok. Konsert ini akan menjadi kali pertama beliau bergabung di atas pentas bersama ahli-ahli band yang lain, membawa satu dimensi baru kepada persembahan tersebut.

    Dengan usia yang sudah mencecah 36 tahun, Cromok merupakan salah satu nama besar dalam muzik thrash metal Malaysia. Ditubuhkan di Australia oleh sekumpulan pelajar Malaysia di University of Wollongong, band ini sejak awal lagi menunjukkan potensi besar dalam mencipta muzik yang unik dan berani. “Image of Purity”, album sulung mereka yang dikeluarkan pada 1991, memperkenalkan satu genre baru yang mereka gelar “thrashditional”—gabungan muzik thrash metal dan elemen-elemen muzik tradisional Malaysia.

    Walaupun bermula dari dunia muzik underground, Cromok cepat mendapat tempat di kalangan peminat muzik metal tempatan dan antarabangsa. Dengan pengaruh besar dari band thrash dunia seperti Metallica dan Slayer, Cromok berjaya menggabungkan elemen-elemen tersebut dengan irama tradisional, memberikan mereka identiti yang tersendiri.

    Konsert “The Real Cromok” ini juga akan menjadi satu penghormatan kepada dua pengasas asal band ini yang telah meninggalkan dunia. Allahyarham Tarmizi Mokhtar (Miji), pemain dram yang meninggal dunia pada Mac 2024, dan Allahyarham Muhammad Khairuddin (Din), yang meninggal dunia pada 1997, adalah dua figura penting dalam pembentukan Cromok. Untuk mengenang jasa mereka, sebuah segmen khas akan disediakan dalam konsert ini, memberi penghormatan kepada kedua-dua pengasas yang telah banyak berkorban dalam memperkenalkan Cromok kepada dunia.

    Dengan kehadiran Karl (Khairul Anuar Shariff) yang kembali menyertai band ini pada 2012, dan Shamsudin Ali (Sam) yang menjadi pemain bass utama sejak awal penubuhan band, “The Real Cromok” bakal menyajikan persembahan yang luar biasa. Para peminat boleh mengharapkan lebih daripada sekadar lagu-lagu klasik Cromok.
