  • The TikTok Shop provides a lift to (SMEs) during the largest online sales event of the year

     

    The in-app e-commerce platform is helping local entrepreneurs grow their digital storefront and expand their target audience

    For more than ten years since its establishment, the 11.11 sales event, recognized as ‘Singles Day’ or ‘Double Eleven,’ has been a period during which consumers seek out the most favorable deals and seek value in their purchases.

    TikTok Shop is set to give Malaysian SMEs a boost during this 11.11 sales period by providing greater support for local small businesses with a brand spotlight segment promoting several local brands including dessini, casevalker, farm fresh and barang dapur basah as well as its very own Pertarungan Livestream Mega 11.11 (Mega Livestream Showdown 11.11).

    This event, which will be streamed LIVE on TikTok Shop, will be featuring 10 well-loved local creators tulippetals, khairulaming, dearcarynn, bossa_sce_oe, bossjerry88, crackbrader, aidunoo, peemondayz, almiyaz.my, and akak_e, taking to their livestream sessions and highlighting their 11.11 product promotions as part of one of the biggest e-commerce events of the year.     TikTok Shop By the Numbers

    Since TikTok Shop was launched in Malaysia last year, it has brought about a profound impact on the local SME community, currently hosting over 1 million sellers on the platform. Amongst these sellers, 98% comprise SMEs – with 60% hailing from major city-states, and the remaining 40% from non-major city-states. This proves TikTok Shop’s reach in providing business owners from all backgrounds and locations the opportunity to earn a living, no matter their background, location, and skillset.

    These sellers’ market themselves through Shoppertainment, which brings together the best of content and commerce via LIVE sessions, video content, and shoppable ads, along with a whole host of other tools and programs to help them expand. Sellers also have complete control over their control over their own branding, marketing, and pricing.

    Since 2022, TikTok Shop has partnered with 50 local ministries, GLCs, Educational institutions, and state governments to provide and build support for its sellers. This includes a joint investment with MDEC worth RM31 million for the DE Dagang initiative, which benefitted 22,000 sellers in the form of product discounts, shipping vouchers, and transaction fee subsidies.

    This was further amplified through the TikTok Shop Summit, held in 2023 to celebrate the platform’s 1-year anniversary in the Malaysian market, with TikTok Shop celebrating, educating, and awarding sellers for their contribution to the nation’s economy.

  • Ernie Zakri Menggegarkan Dunia Muzik dengan Pelancaran ‘Aura’

    Bagi peminat setia Ernie Zakri, berita ini adalah satu titik puncak dalam perjalanan muzik penyanyi berbakat ini. Setelah memutuskan untuk bekerjasama dengan Universal Music Malaysia, kini beliau tampil dengan album solo pertamanya yang dinamakan “AURA”. Album ini dijangka akan menjadi penanda aras dalam kerjaya muziknya.

    AURA merupakan sebuah album yang membawa pesan tentang peneguhan diri dan sikap positif. Ia diolah khas oleh Ernie sendiri untuk memberi keyakinan kepada mereka yang rasa terluka dalam menghadapi kehidupan harian. Album ini mengajak pendengar untuk menghayati aura yang ada pada diri sendiri, sambil mengingatkan bahawa setiap yang berlaku dalam hidup ini adalah takdir yang sudah tersusun, dan bertujuan memberikan kesedaran untuk menerima segala kekurangan tanpa rasa takut.

    Ernie menjelaskan mukadimah tentang mahakarya terbaharunya ini, album AURA ini sangat istimewa kerana ia menceritakan tentang sumber kekuatan seseorang. Semua lagu dalam album ini berkisahkan nasihat, motivasi dan sumber kekuatan untuk insan yang memerlukan semangat. Sebagai pembuka cerita kepada album ini, lagu berjudul Masing-Masing diberi penghormatan menjadi single pertama untuk memperkenalkan AURA.

    Masing-Masing adalah sebuah lagu galau yang bertemakan putus cinta. Digubah dan ditulis oleh Ade dari kumpulan Govinda bersama Nabila V, ia mempunyai jalan cerita tersendiri.

    “Saya dan Mas Ade bersependapat untuk menghasilkan lagu galau dengan kisah putus cinta yang sedikit berbeza. Masing-Masing mengisahkan pasangan yang terpaksa teruskan kehidupan mereka dengan cara berpisah demi mencari kebahagiaan diri sendiri. Tidak semua perpisahan tentang pertengkaran atau pergaduhan. Ada perpisahan yang berlaku atas persetujuan kedua-dua pihak demi mencapai kebahagiaan sendiri. Saya tahu ramai rakyat Malaysia yang suka lagu galau sebegini,” tambah Ernie lagi.

    Lagu tersebut menjalani proses rakaman di Yogyakarta, Indonesia dengan begitu mudah.

    Ernie Zakri menceritakan bahawa, ia tidak terasa seperti bekerja malah seolah-olah sedang bercuti kerana semuanya lancar dan senang. Kami hanya mengambil masa sehari untuk rakaman. Buat video muzik pula kami hanya perlukan setengah hari sahaja untuk penggambaran.

    Video muzik yang berkonsep penuh kesenian itu menampilkan dua orang penari yang menyampaikan jalan cerita secara simbolik lewat setiap pergerakan yang ditampilkan dalam bentuk seni tari.

    Ernie menceritakan tentang video muzik Masing Masing, terdapat dua orang penari yang bercerita dengan pergerakan. Setiap gerak tari ada maknanya. Sebagai contoh, ada babak mereka jatuh, itu ada maksud simbolik yang tersirat tentang mesej yang disampaikan dalam lagu itu.

    Album AURA yang membabitkan ramai komposer dan penerbit mengambil masa perancangan sekitar setahun kerana Ernie mempunyai beberapa permintaan khas.

    “Saya yang meminta sendiri lagu daripada penulis serta pencipta yang terbabit dalam album ini. Proses rakaman kesemua lagu juga memakan waktu sekitar tiga hingga empat bulan untuk disiapkan. Jadi saya harap para pendengar akan dapat memahami apa yang saya cuba sampaikan di dalam album ini. Semoga ia menjadi teman buat mereka yang memerlukan semangat serta kekuatan itu,” bingkas Ernie menutup bicara.

    Kim Lim, Pengarah Urusan Universal Music Malaysia, turut menzahirkan keyakinan terhadap kemampuan dan potensi Ernie Zakri untuk meluncur lebih jauh dalam kareer muziknya di bawah label ini.  “Kami mempunyai perancangan yang rapi untuk memastikan nama Ernie Zakri bukan sahaja terpahat di hati peminat Malaysia, malah di rantau ini terutamanya Indonesia. Selain menghasilkan karya muzik yang berkualiti untuk para peminat, Ernie juga akan berkolaborasi bersama beberapa jenama tempatan sebagai salah satu strategi mengembangkan kareer beliau.   • Faizal Tahir anjur acara amal sebagai tanda sokongan kepada Palestin

    Faizal Tahir, melalui usaha kemanusiaannya bersama inisiatif iamFaithmen dan syarikat rakamannya, Faithful Music, akan melancarkan Faith4Palestine, sebuah acara amal bertujuan menghimpun dana bagi bantuan kemanusiaan Palestin. Inisiatif ini bukan sekadar acara amal, tetapi juga merupakan manifestasi kuat solidariti rakyat Malaysia dalam menyokong isu ini.

In its much-anticipated 2024 edition, this influential event is set to return to the prestigious National Convention and Exhibition Centre in Tianjin, where it will unfold from March 20 to March 23. As the age of existing cars on the road continues to rise, China’s automotive aftermarket has seen a steady expansion to satisfy the growing demand for vehicle maintenance and repair.

    Simultaneously, digital transformation and the maturation of the consumer market are collectively reshaping the aftermarket landscape. To cater to the accelerating demand for industrial enhancement and change brought on by these forces, AMR 2024 aims to deliver a full-service aftermarket supply chain. The exhibition will span 100,000 sqm of floor space, and will integrate new specialised zones into key industrial sectors to highlight trending topics.

     

    Repair and Maintenance sector

    China’s auto maintenance sector is continually adapting to accommodate demand for widening range of services, including personalisation. With this shift has come an intensified focus on safety, energy conservation, customisation and the integration of smart features. As the industry navigates this period of digital transformation, it is becoming increasingly important for workshops to synchronise their online and offline operations, utilising data and smart technologies to deliver greater value to customers. Against this backdrop, AMR 2024’s Repair and Maintenance sector will continue to highlight advancements in car maintenance and repair equipment, tools, and testing and car painting solutions. The exhibition will present a strong lineup of domestic brands, and will feature specialised areas for diagnostics, repair, body and paint, car wash and car care. Occupying an anticipated 60,000 sqm of floor space, this sector is poised to attract over 100 buyer delegations in addition to 20,000 visitors from around the world.

    Parts and Components sector

    China’s automotive components sector is rapidly progressing in line with the broader development of the worldwide automotive industry. These advancements are grounded in specific policy support, alongside an increased focus on electronic parts stemming from the industry’s ongoing digitalisation. By 2028, it is expected that revenue from China’s auto parts and components sector will surpass RMB 4.8 trillion [2]. In response to the growing demand for car care products across northern and southern China, AMR 2024 will expand its Parts and Components sector to over 25,000 sqm. Hosting over 500 exhibitors, the area will facilitate networking and collaboration opportunities between foreign and local parts enterprises. Product displays will include driving systems, body and chassis, car interiors and exteriors, and parts remanufacturing.

     

    Aftermarket fine chemical specialised zone

    The use of fine chemicals in aftermarket production not only improves overall vehicle performance and safety, but can also aid with emission reduction efforts. In its upcoming edition, AMR will unveil a brand-new specialised zone showcasing the chemicals used in car repair and maintenance. This inaugural display area will highlight a line-up of fuels, lubricants, and chemicals used for air-conditioning, cooling and safety. Complementing this, a number of events announcing updated industry standards will be held throughout the area. These events will showcase chemical innovations which meet high performance and environmental protection standards.

     

    Green Repair & New Energy zone

    In recent years, the automotive industry has proactively adopted a more environmentally-conscious approach, a stance which extends from the manufacturing process to the aftermarket. Green transportation occupies a strategic role within this transition. In China, the growing number of new energy vehicles is making a notable impact, improving air quality, restructuring energy consumption patterns and effectively leading a broad-scale transformation in the country’s mobility and transportation sector. At AMR 2024, the Green Repair & New Energy zone will continue to serve as a core highlight of the show. This zone will converge the latest in maintenance technologies, equipment and materials, as well as industry standards and testing solutions which fulfil the most current requirements for environmental protection.

     

    Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Manufacturing zone

    Recognised as one of China’s six major automotive manufacturing bases, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region has established a solid foundation in the field of car manufacturing, owing to the consistent optimisation of its infrastructure over the years. The year 2024 is set to be a significant milestone, marking the 10th anniversary of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei development initiative. As leading areas of focus within the region, new energy and connected vehicles will receive substantial support in support of further development [3]. Building upon the success of the previous edition’s Tianjin Manufacturing zone, the fair’s Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Manufacturing zone will explore the region’s comprehensive auto service chain and its capabilities, covering topics including auto manufacturing-related products, testing services, port facilities, and industry-supportive policies.

     

    Industry and Education Integration zone

    The integration of industry and education offers a novel approach to talent development, synchronising educational curricula with the requirements of the industry. This collaborative model not only improves the practical abilities and competitiveness of vocational college and university students, but also supplies enterprises with a pipeline to a highly skilled labour force. The upcoming edition of AMR will welcome the new Industry and Education Integration zone, which will feature teaching equipment, software and materials, alongside scenario-based displays of workshop repair equipment and tools. The show will also coordinate a series of related competitions centred around car maintenance skills, encouraging the sharing of expertise on techniques and technical enhancements.

    Public Transportation Equipment sector

    Trends in digitalisation and electrification are continuing to permeate all aspects of the automotive industry, and commercial vehicles and logistics-related sectors stand as no exception in this transition toward a new era. Accordingly, AMR 2024 will commit a stronger focus to the Public Transportation Equipment sector. Across the show floor, visitors will encounter the latest technologies and trends in the logistics sector, presented through a series of product displays, conferences, training sessions, policy discussions and a diverse range of on-site activities. These activities will cover topics including the customisation and improvement of commercial vehicles, testing and diagnosis, car care and maintenance, replacement parts supply, technological integration and green solutions.

    In addition to the aforementioned highlights, AMR 2024 will continue to expand its focus on Car CareCar Wash and Customising.     Filem sulung arahan Zizan Nin

    Zizan Nin berpengalaman selama 25 tahun dalam bidang lakonan dan mengarah beberapa telemovie khas seperti A Christmast Hug, Papa Jinak Singa, Api Cinta Ramadan dan Opah Jangan Lupa, untuk siaran Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM), akhirnya diberi kepercayaan untuk duduk di kerusi Pengarah filem ‘Sazali Meor Coco’.

    Beliau merupakan pemenang anugerah Pelakon Pembantu Terbaik Lelaki (Anugerah Skrin 1024) melalui filem ‘Tanda Putera’ dan Pelakon Harapan Lelaki (FFM ke-20) melalui filem ‘Cinta Terakhir’. Beliau yakin dengan bakat-bakat baru serta mempertaruhkan Syazani Zikry, Shahradhy, Iman Zulkarnain sebagai tunjang utama filem.

    Menurut Zizan, file ini memberi kepuasan kepada dirinya sebagai pengarah untuk berkarya disamping dapat mencungkil bakat-bakat baru yang berpotensi sebagai barisan pelakon pelapis di masa hadapan.

    “Filem ini mudah untuk difahimi oleh para penonton dan konflik yang dipaparkan amat relevan dengan situasi masa kini iaitu ditindas disebabkan kurang ilmu dan pengalaman, kemiskinan bandar, penderaan kanak-kanak, orang gelandangan dan pempengaruh (influencer) menjadi popular disebabkan ledakan pengaruh media sosial” kata Zizan Nin.

    “Semoga para penonton berpusu menonton file mini di pawagam kelak kerana ianya menghiburkan dan bersahaja” kata Syazani Zikry yang memegang watak Sazali

    “Saya teruja kerana filem ini merupakan penampilan sulung saya di layer lebar.”- Tambah Shahradhy pula yang memegang watak Meor

    “Selain daripada berlakon sebagai watak Coco, saya juga menyanyi empat buah lagu dalam filem ini.” Menurut Iman Zulkarnain yang memegang watak Coco.

    Dalam majlis ini, tetamu turut diperdengarkan dengan enam buah lagu daripada “Digital Soundtrack Album Tetiber” termasuk OST “Tiga Raga” yang mendapat sentuhan an award winning kompesor terkenal tanahair dan antarabangsa iaitu Zee Avi dan Sharon Paul.

    Dalam majlis ini, tetamu turut diperdengarkan dengan enam buah lagu daripada “Digital Soundtrack Album Tetiber” termasuk OST “Tiga Raga” yang mendapat sentuhan an award winning composer terkenal tanahair dan antarabangsa iaitu Zee Avi dan Sharon Paul.

    Majlis ini turut mendapat tajaan JL99 Group, Megat Sharezmen & Clean Slate Facial Bar bagi meraikan para tetamu yang hadir.

  • Sony Introduces “BURANO,” the Latest Member of Sony’s CineAlta Family of High-end Digital Cinema Cameras

    BURANO combines outstanding cinematic images and exceptional mobility for single camera operators and small crews

    Sony is thrilled to unveil the new BURANO camera as part of the CineAlta portfolio, the company’s premium brand of digital cinema cameras. The new BURANO has a sensor that matches the VENICE 2’s color science and is primarily tailored for single-camera operators and small crews. This camera features in-body image stabilisation and combines great image quality with high mobility. It is the world’s first digital cinema camera with a PL-Mount to have in-body image stabilisation. Furthermore, the tiny housing incorporates for the first time an electronically tunable ND filter structure as well as an optical image stabilisation system, a technological accomplishment never before accomplished. When the PL lens mount is removed, the camera can be used with E-mount lenses and features fast hybrid AF and subject recognition AF, making it ideal for subjects that move quickly.

    Main Features: Powerful 8.6K Full-Frame Sensor

    Using the widely appreciated colour science of the VENICE cameras, BURANO features an 8.6K full-frame sensor that shares most of the VENICE 2 specifications enabling it to work alongside that camera in all types of productions. The sensor features dual base ISO of 800 and 3200 and 16 stops[i] of latitude to produce stunning images even in the most challenging lighting conditions.

    Like all cameras in Sony’s full-frame Cinema Line, BURANO will have the ability to shoot at full-frame, Super 35, and also features a de-squeeze function for anamorphic lenses. It can film at frame rates including up to 8K at 30 frames per second, 6K at 60 frames per second or 4K at 120 frames per second[ii].

    BURANO features a compact and lightweight body for high mobility, approximately 32mm shorter and 1.4kg lighter than the VENICE 2 camera. BURANO is housed in a rugged magnesium chassis, making it suitable for filming in the most challenging environments.  The camera and accessory packaging bags materials are made primarily of plant-based cellulose[iii] instead of plastic as part of Sony’s efforts to be environmentally conscious. Moreover, a moulded pulp cushion is used on the camera as the cushioning material, thus not using expanded polystyrene.

    Built In Optical Image Stabilisation

    BURANO is the world’s first digital cinema camera with PL-mount to support in-body image stabilisation. With a newly developed image stabilisation mechanism and control algorithm that leverages the advanced image stabilisation technology cultivated in the Alpha™ series of mirrorless interchangeable-lens cameras, unwanted camera shake, such as movement from shooting handheld or walking, can be corrected when shooting with an E-mount or PL-mount lens.

    Variable ND Filter for added control and exposure optimisation.

    BURANO is equipped with an electronic variable ND filter from 0.6 to 2.1, enabling easy adjustments in various lighting conditions. In addition, the electronic variable ND filter allows control of the depth of field with the iris and adjusts to the optimum exposure without changing the depth of field.

    E-mount lenses for an increased choice

    More than 70 E-mount lenses can use the excellent image stabilisation function cultivated with Alpha™, as well as Fast Hybrid AF that combines the benefits of phase detection and contrast detection method and are also compatible with high-precision Subject Recognition AF using AI. Using an E-mount lens further reduces the weight and size of the camera.

    Updated Body Design for greater ergonomics

    BURANO also includes design improvements based on feedback from the filmmaking community. For example, all menu buttons are positioned on the camera operator’s side. Additionally, tally lamps are placed in three locations to make it easier for the surrounding crew to check the shooting status. The 3.5-inch multi-function LCD monitor can be used as a viewfinder, for touch focus, or menu control. The BURANO also comes equipped with an optional robust T-handle, viewfinder arm, two 3-pin XLR audio inputs, and a headphone terminal (stereo minijack), convenient for solo operation.

       

    Recording Formats for added workflow flexibility.

    The BURANO can record from HD to 8K depending on the resolution, aspect ratio, and codec. BURANO supports multiple internal recording formats, such as the new XAVC H™ for 8K, which uses the MPEG-H HEVC/H.265 high compression efficiency codec. Other recording formats include XAVC and X-OCN LT. X-OCN is Sony’s original compressed RAW format that can capture information shot with 16-bit linear data, which gives filmmakers more freedom in post for colour grading. X-OCN LT can reduce file transfer time and storage size load, making post-production workflows more efficient than standard versions of RAW data.

    BURANO is also equipped with two new CF express Type B memory card slots and supports VPG400, which can sustain high bitrate writing of video data, including X-OCN LT 8K. Sony will also be releasing new compatible CFexpress Type B memory cards, CEB-G1920T (1920 GB)/ CEB-G960T (960 GB).

    Versatile and Efficient Production Ecosystem

    BURANO supports various log recording modes including S-Gamut3 and S-Gamut.Cine, which are colour spaces that cover a colour gamut exceeding BT.2020 and DCI-P3. BURANO can reproduce the same colour as all cameras in Sony’s Cinema Line, including the VENICE 2. This allows filmmakers to match cameras within the line.

    BURANO comes with four new cinematic looks[iv]: Warm, Cool, Vintage, Teal, and Orange, in addition to supporting industry standard s709 and 709 (800%) Look Up Tables (LUTs).

    Furthermore, like the VENICE series amongst others, BURANO can be used for virtual production using large screen LED displays such as Sony’s Crystal LED VERONA. The camera also features gen-lock.

    Sony will be releasing separately the GP-VR100 Grip remote control for the BURANO’s main unit, to control the zoom lever and recording start / stop button, particularly useful in solo shooting set ups.

    BURANO will support the S700 protocol over ethernet and a 1.5x de-squeeze display function when using anamorphic lens in July 2024 or later. Further updates based on user feedback and suggestions will be rolled out in the future[v].

    Continuous enhancement of Cinema Line in both hardware and software

    Cinema Line is a series of camera products for content creators, which delivers not only the coveted cinematographic look cultivated through extensive experience in digital cinema production, but also the enhanced operability and reliability that meet discerning creators’ various needs. Set to continuously evolve, Cinema Line currently includes the high end CineAlta cameras VENICE, VENICE 2, BURANO, as well as the various FX models and the unique FR7 PTZ camera. From a software perspective, the newly launched mobile app, Monitor & Control[vi] , part of the Sony Creators’ Cloud can be used with the FX3, FX30 amongst others. The app, designed with visual creators in mind, enables wireless video monitoring, support for high-precision exposure determination using false colour and waveform monitors, and intuitive focus operation of compatible cameras, on the screen of a smartphone or tablet. BURANO will also be compatible with this app.

    Availability

    The BURANO, CFexpress Type B memory cards, CEB-G1920T (1920 GB)/ CEB-G960T (960 GB) and new GP-VR100 Grip remote control (sold separately) will be available in Malaysia from March 2024 or later.
