  • Samsung Kicks Off Global Rollout of One UI 8 for Galaxy Users

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced the official rollout of One UI 8, the latest version of its user experience platform. This update brings advanced multimodal AI capabilities, a refined interface optimized for different device form factors, and personalized suggestions designed to make everyday life smarter and more convenient. The rollout begins this week with the Galaxy S25 series and will extend to the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold6, Galaxy Z Flip6, Galaxy S24 FE, and additional eligible Galaxy models later this year.

One UI 8 introduces a smarter and more personal Galaxy experience, recognizing the user’s context and offering proactive recommendations tailored to individual daily routines. Enhanced by Galaxy AI, the system delivers meaningful personalization while maintaining a strong commitment to privacy. At its core is a combination of advanced personalization features and upgraded security tools that work together to anticipate user needs without compromising sensitive information.

Among the new additions are improvements to the FlexWindow on the Galaxy Z Flip, which now displays real-time app activity and media player progress with integration across a broader selection of third-party apps. Daily updates are also enhanced through Now Brief, which provides personalized traffic alerts, important reminders, and Samsung Moments that help users reflect on daily activities. Recommendations for music, video, and health insights from the Galaxy Watch are now easily accessible, creating a more connected ecosystem.

Security is also at the forefront of One UI 8. The new Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection, or KEEP, introduces a security architecture that creates app-specific encrypted storage environments, ensuring each app has access only to its own sensitive information. Knox Matrix extends protection further by automatically signing devices out of the Samsung Account when high-risk activity is detected, sending alerts across connected Galaxy devices, and offering guidance to protect user data. In addition, Secure Wi-Fi has been upgraded with post-quantum cryptography, designed to defend against emerging threats and ensure stronger privacy even when connected to public networks.

With its multimodal AI, One UI 8 transforms how users interact with Galaxy devices by combining visual, auditory, and contextual intelligence. Gemini Live allows seamless communication with AI that can interpret what the user is seeing or watching in real-time, while Circle to Search with Google expands gaming support by providing instant strategies, character details, and real-time translations directly on screen without switching apps. These tools make tasks more intuitive and efficient, blending AI assistance naturally into everyday use.

The interface has also been optimized to suit multiple form factors across smartphones and tablets. AI Results View enables multitasking by displaying AI outputs in separate floating or split views while keeping original content visible. With Galaxy AI tailored for larger screens, users can easily drag and drop AI-generated text and images into their workflow, streamlining productivity. Creative tools such as Drawing Assist and Writing Assist further support smoother idea development. On the Galaxy Z Flip, Gemini Live now operates directly on the FlexWindow, allowing hands-free voice assistance. Other additions include Audio Eraser, which removes background noise with a single tap, and a new adaptive clock design that adjusts dynamically around photos without obscuring key details. FlexWindow customization has also been expanded with curated wallpapers, emoji themes, and personalized background colors.

One UI 8 enhances communication and creativity through AI-powered tools such as Portrait Studio, which generates artistic pet portraits, Call Captions that convert voices into text during calls, and Interpreter with keyboard input for quick translations. Together, these features deliver a versatile experience that is both intelligent and personalized.

In Malaysia, the rollout of One UI 8 will begin on September 18, 2025, with the Galaxy S25 series, followed by the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold6, and Galaxy Z Flip6 on September 25. The Galaxy S23 series and Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5 will receive the update on October 2, while the Galaxy S22 series and Galaxy Z Fold4 and Z Flip4 will be updated on October 6. The Galaxy S21 FE will receive the update on October 16.

To mark the arrival of One UI 8, Samsung is offering a promotion for the latest Galaxy Z Series. Embracing the Future of AI: A New Era of Mobile Innovation

As we look toward the future of artificial intelligence, it’s clear that AI is not just a passing trend but a transformative force in how we live, work, and interact with technology. One of the most exciting frontiers of AI’s evolution is its integration into smartphones, and the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event promises to unveil groundbreaking innovations that will redefine the role of AI in our daily lives.

AI in smartphones has already revolutionized how we interact with our devices. Voice assistants, such as Samsung’s Bixby, have moved beyond simple tasks to offer personalized experiences, from setting reminders to answering questions and even managing home devices. But the next leap is even more extraordinary.

Imagine a smartphone that doesn’t merely respond to your commands but proactively anticipates your needs based on your unique routines, preferences, and environment. In this vision of the future, AI is not just reactive, but predictive. Whether it’s suggesting a meeting time that fits seamlessly into your schedule or offering reminders based on the weather and your location, the possibilities for a smarter, more intuitive mobile experience are endless.

The future of AI in smartphones is about context awareness. With advancements in AI, your smartphone will be able to understand not only what you’re doing but also how you’re feeling and what you may need next. Whether you’re preparing for a busy workday, heading out for a workout, or winding down for the evening, AI will offer real-time assistance tailored to each phase of your day.

For example, your device could monitor your health metrics, like steps, heart rate, and sleep patterns, and offer advice or prompts to keep you on track with your fitness goals. Or, if you’re entering a stressful situation, the AI could suggest relaxation techniques, calming music, or a short walk to help you refocus. The goal is a seamless blend of technology into your lifestyle, offering you proactive, intelligent support whenever you need it most.

The line between smartphone and personal assistant will continue to blur as AI becomes a central, indispensable part of your life. Imagine a world where your smartphone evolves from a passive tool into an active, insightful companion, offering suggestions and insights that anticipate your needs before you even think to ask.

In the next few years, this vision of AI will be realized. From travel recommendations tailored to your preferences to personalized content on your social media feeds, smartphones will not just reflect who you are—they will help shape your day by understanding what you want, when you want it.
