  • The Future of Honey 2026 Unveils Malaysia’s Certified Stingless Bee Honey, Introducing the World’s First International Certification Framework

The world’s first Certified Stingless Bee Honey (SBH) was officially launched.

KUALA LUMPUR, 11 July 2026 — Stingless Bee Factor Pte. Ltd. (SBF) has marked a significant milestone in the global development of Stingless Bee Honey (SBH) with the premiere launch of The Future of Honey 2026 – Premiere Launch of Certified Stingless Bee Honey at Courtyard by Marriott Kuala Lumpur South. The event officially introduced what SBF described as the world’s first international certification framework for Stingless Bee Honey, alongside new scientific research findings aimed at strengthening the product’s credibility and future market potential.

For centuries, honey has been valued as a natural food, but the growing Stingless Bee Honey industry has faced challenges arising from the lack of a universally recognised definition, quality standard and international certification framework. According to SBF, these gaps have affected industry development, consumer confidence and opportunities for international trade. The newly unveiled framework seeks to establish greater consistency and transparency while supporting the positioning of Stingless Bee Honey as a premium functional honey backed by scientific research and recognised quality standards.

More than a product launch, The Future of Honey 2026 brought together scientific research, industry standards, agricultural innovation and emerging health technologies to explore the future direction of the Stingless Bee Honey sector. The event highlighted how the industry could evolve beyond traditional honey consumption towards applications in functional foods, nutrition, nutraceuticals and wellness.

A key highlight of the event was the presentation of scientific findings involving researchers from Temasek Polytechnic’s Glycaemic Index Research Unit (GIRU) in Singapore. The research scientifically validated that SBH Certified Stingless Bee Honey possesses a Low Glycaemic Index (Low GI), providing scientific evidence relevant to consumers seeking dietary options associated with blood sugar management. Additional research conducted by the School of Applied Science at Temasek Polytechnic also identified natural antibacterial and antioxidant properties in Stingless Bee Honey, further supporting research into its potential applications in functional food and nutraceutical development.

With consumers increasingly seeking natural products supported by scientific evidence, SBF Founder Javier Lau, who has more than 19 years of beekeeping experience, said the development of an internationally recognised quality framework represents an important step in redefining the global position of Stingless Bee Honey. Over the past decade, Lau has worked with international scientists and research institutions to develop quality frameworks and industry standards intended to support the product’s transition from a niche natural resource into a premium product for global markets.

The SBH Stingless Bee Honey tasting counter attracted strong interest from guests throughout the event.

The company also highlighted the potential of Stingless Bee Honey to expand into areas such as nutritional supplementation, health management, post-operative recovery and future healthcare applications. These possibilities could create new opportunities within the wider nutraceutical and wellness industries as research and standardisation continue to develop.

Malaysia, with its tropical rainforest biodiversity, diverse stingless bee species and established beekeeping ecosystem, was also highlighted as having the potential to play an important role in the international development of the industry. The global premiere of The Future of Honey 2026 in Malaysia further reflects the country’s ambition to strengthen its position within the Stingless Bee Honey value chain, while the international certification framework could support greater market transparency, consumer confidence and opportunities in agriculture, research, exports, health and wellness.

Beyond commercial and scientific development, SBF also demonstrated its commitment to social impact through the BeeAble Project, a collaboration with GroupHome, a community-based vocational training centre in Bentong, Pahang. The initiative provides young people with special needs with practical training in stingless bee beekeeping, creating opportunities to develop vocational skills and generate a sustainable source of income.

Children from the BeeAble Project welcomed guests with a heartwarming performance, showcasing the spirit of hope, inclusion and community.

Under the BeeAble Project, Stingless Bee Factor provides training, technical guidance and ongoing support, while managing the processing, packaging and marketing of the honey. During the launch, Dr Andrew Tan, Founder of GroupHome, shared the project’s positive outcomes and social impact. SBF Founder Javier Lau also announced the company’s collaboration with History Maker to co-produce the anti-scam film Rescue Mission, which is currently in production and expected to be released by the end of the year.

The event further featured the SBH Experience Hall, where nearly 700 guests were introduced to the world of Stingless Bee Honey through educational exhibits and interactive displays. International scientists and industry experts also delivered keynote presentations covering international certification and global standards, Low GI scientific validation, phenolic compounds and natural peroxide activity in Stingless Bee Honey, as well as the future development of the global industry.

The event culminated in the unveiling of the SBH Certified Stingless Bee Honey, presented as the world’s first certified Stingless Bee Honey carrying three key marks of recognition — FERA Certification, Low GI Scientific Validation and SBF Standards. Presented in signature amber-coloured packaging, the product represents SBF’s vision for a new generation of Stingless Bee Honey supported by scientific research, international standards and quality assurance.

The launch of The Future of Honey 2026 signals a new chapter for the Stingless Bee Honey industry, bringing together science, certification, agriculture, community development and wellness in an effort to establish a stronger foundation for the product’s future in international markets.
