GDEX Honors Graduates in Second Skills Development Program Ceremony

GDEX Berhad proudly celebrated the graduation of 66 employees from its second Skills Development Program on December 21st, 2024, at the M Theatre in Mahsa Avenue. The ceremony marked an important achievement for the company, as it continues its commitment to enhancing the skills and capabilities of its workforce. Among the graduates, 20 received the Malaysian Skills Certificate (Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia, SKM), while 46 were awarded the Malaysian Skills Diploma (Diploma Kemahiran Malaysia, DKM).

The Skills Development Program, which is a collaboration between GDEX and the Department of Skills Development Malaysia (JPK), is designed to improve the technical and professional competencies of GDEX employees. The initiative aligns with the Malaysian Government’s National TVET Policy 2030, aiming to boost the country’s economic growth through enhanced Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

During the ceremony, GDEX’s Managing Director and Group CEO, Mr. Teong Teck Lean, emphasized the company’s long-standing commitment to training and upskilling its staff. “GDEX has always prioritized the personal and professional development of our people. We were one of the first in the courier industry to establish a learning academy, and I am extremely proud of our graduates’ achievements. This milestone represents a key step toward a more skilled workforce, and we will continue to invest in opportunities for growth,” he said.

The second cohort of graduates represents significant progress for the program, which started in 2020 with only 10 graduates. The increase to 66 graduates this year reflects GDEX’s ongoing dedication to providing valuable upskilling opportunities. The ceremony was attended by the graduates, their families, GDEX management, employees, and distinguished government representatives. The event was officiated by Tan Sri Muhammad bin Ibrahim, Chairman of GDEX Berhad, who highlighted the importance of collaboration between the private sector and the government in advancing skill-based education and workforce preparedness.

GDEX remains committed to empowering its employees through continuous learning, and the success of the Skills Development Program is a testament to the company’s ongoing efforts to build a future-ready workforce.
