  • BANK ISLAM ANNOUNCES CHANGES TO ITS BOARD AND WELCOMES A NEW MEMBER OF THE SHARIAH SUPERVISORY COUNCIL

    Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad (Bank Islam or the  Bank) has announced changes to its Board composition and an appointment of a new  member to its Shariah Supervisory Council. Tuan Syed Hamadah Syed Othman will be appointed as the Non-Independent Non-Executive Director, while Associate Professor Dr  Nurul Aini Muhamed is joining the Shariah Supervisory Council, effective 1 January 2024.  Meanwhile, Datuk Bazlan Osman will replace Encik Azizan Ahmad, who will be retiring from  his position as the Senior Independent Non-Executive Director, with effect from 2 January  2024.

    Tuan Syed Hamadah’s appointment will strengthen the Group’s Board composition as Bank  Islam remains steadfast in executing its five-year strategy roadmap (LEAP25), aimed at becoming the champion in Shariah-compliant environmental, social, and governance  (ESG) total financial solutions, with leadership in digital banking and social finance.

    Tuan Syed Hamadah is currently the Group Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of  Lembaga Tabung Haji, a Board Member of the Private Pension Administrator Malaysia, TH  Plantations Berhad and TH Properties Sdn Bhd. He is also the Director and a Senior Partner  of Actuarial Partners Consulting Sdn Bhd.

    He was formerly the Chief Executive Officer of Retirement Fund Incorporated, consulting  actuarist at Mercer Zainal Consulting Sdn Bhd and technical analyst at Petronas Trading  Corporation Sdn Bhd.

    Tuan Syed Hamadah obtained his Scottish Higher Education Certification from Clydebank  College, United Kingdom (UK). He holds a Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Mathematics  and Statistics from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, UK. He is also a Fellow of the Faculty  and Institute of Actuaries, UK, and a Fellow of the Actuarial Society, Malaysia.

    Associate Professor Dr Nurul Aini currently serves as an Associate Professor at the Faculty of  Economics and Muamalat, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), a Shariah Committee

    member at Great Eastern Takaful Berhad, Wakaf Felda, and Perbadanan Tabung  Pembangunan Kemahiran (PTPK). She is also an active member of the Malaysian Muamalat  Association (MMA) and the Association of Shariah Advisors in Islamic Finance (ASAS). As an  academician, her focus encompasses Islamic Banking and Finance, Islamic Transaction  Law, Halal Management, and Governance. She plays an active role in the academic world  with contributions in research, publications, trainings and presentation in the fields of Shariah  and Islamic finance.

    Her extensive experience extends to her prior roles as the Deputy Director at Wakaf and  Zakat Centre, USIM, and a Shariah Committee member at BNP Paribas Malaysia Berhad,  Hong Leong Islamic Bank Berhad and Hong Leong MSIG Takaful.

    Associate Professor Dr Nurul Aini obtained her undergraduate degree in Shariah  Management from the University of Malaya, Master of Business Administration (MBA) from  Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, and Master of Islamic Finance Practice from INCEIF. She  also holds a Doctorate in Business and Management from the University of South Australia.

    Bank Islam’s Chairman, Tan Sri Dr Ismail Haji Bakar, said, “On behalf of the Board, I warmly  congratulate and welcome Tuan Syed Hamadah and Associate Professor Dr Nurul Aini to  Bank Islam Group.   • Shaa kembali dengan single terbaharu berjudul “Kau Bukan Milikku”.

    Penyanyi bersuara lantang tanah air ini tidak dapat dilupakan dek single pertamanya, yang berjudul “Pertama Kali,” yang berjaya dipublikasikan pada tahun 2017, telah menarik perhatian ramai peminat muzik di negara ini.

    Fenomena dicipta Shaa, 28, atau nama sebenarnya Juzratul Nisha Johari membuatkan setiap lagu yang dilancarkan berjaya meraih perhatian dan tontonan yang tinggi di saluran YouTube. Video muzik dan video lirik lagu “Pertama Kali” dan “Biar Ku Pergi” nyanyian Shaa masing-masing berjaya capai gabungan tontonan sebanyak 37 juta dan 6.2 juta di YouTube! Malah lagu “Pertama Kali” kini melonjak popular di TikTok!    

    Selepas lagu “Biar Ku Pergi” (2018) dan “Tersentak di Dada” (2022), Shaa kembali dengan single terbaharu berjudul “Kau Bukan Milikku” hasil ciptaan sepenuhnya oleh Mekiya yang diterbitkan oleh syarikat rakaman Nova Music (M) Sdn. Bhd.

    Shaa berkata, dia sekali lagi mempertaruhkan genre ‘Balada Pop Melayu’ yang dianggap kena dengan vokal dimiliki selain memenuhi permintaan pendengar.

    “Genre lagu kali ini sama saja macam lagu-lagu terdahulu saya. Bagi saya, genre Balada Pop Melayu cukup kena dengan vokal saya. Malah, peminat juga memberikan maklumbalas baik untuk lagu-lagu saya yang bergenre sebegini.

    “Lagu Kau Bukan Milikku ini mengisahkan mengenai pasangan yang menipu dalam percintaan. Dia seakan cinta sepenuhnya tetapi sebenarnya penuh sandiwara dan penipuan. Sedangkan pasangannya mengharapkan cinta sejati.

    “Kalau diamati bait lirik lagu ini, ia mungkin ada kaitan dengan mana-mana pasangan yang pernah melalui episod percintaan sebegini. Jadi, mereka dapat rasa betapa pedih dan sakitnya hati,” katanya.

    Menurutnya, lagu “Kau Bukan Milikku” ini mempunyai kelebihan dan keunikan tersendiri berbanding single sebelumnya.

    “Lagu ini mempunyai kelebihan dari segi melodi dan lirik. Melodinya sangat menarik dan mampu memukau pendengar dengan lenggok melodi yang sedap didengar. Selain itu, liriknya juga sangat berkualiti dan mampu menyentuh perasaan setiap pendengar. Gubahan muzik moden dalam lagu ini tidak mengurangkan daya tarikan lagu ini. Sebaliknya, ia memberikan sentuhan segar kepada lagu ini agar seiring dengan trend terkini. 

    “Ia dapat menambat hati pendengar sehingga mereka berasakan bahawa lagu ini relevan dengan zaman sekarang. Selain itu, keserasian antara melodinya yang menangkap halwa telinga dan lirik-lirik yang bermakna menjadikan lagu ini mesra pendengar. Pendengar akan berasakan hubungan emosi yang kuat ketika mendengarkan lagu ini kerana ia mampu menggambarkan situasi atau perasaan manusia secara asli,” katanya.

    Berkongsi lanjut, Shaa berkata, dia tidak mengambil masa yang lama untuk merakamkan lagu ini. Malah, kerjasama kali kedua dengan komposer Mekiya memudahkan lagi proses rakaman lagu ini.

    “Kalau macam sebelum ini, proses rakaman ambil masa lama juga. Tapi untuk lagu ini, sekejap saja. Cuma, ia memberikan cabaran dari segi nak kena menjiwai lagu serta nak kena hafal melodi dengan cepat.

    “Ini juga kali kedua saya bekerjasama dengan komposer Mekiya. Kali pertama menerusi lagu Biar Ku Pergi. Alhamdulillah, semuanya berjalan lancar,” katanya.

    Sama macam single terdahulu, Shaa juga berharap lagu “Kau Bukan Milikku” ini mendapat sambutan baik di kalangan peminat dan pencinta muzik tanahair.

    “Harapan saya sangat tinggi sebab saya dah buat yang terbaik untuk lagu ini. Harapan saya lagu ini diterima baik, disukai ramai dan menjadi hits yang teratas. 

    “Semoga lagu ini juga dapat mengharumkan nama saya semula dalam persada muzik tanahair dan tentunya mahu lagu ini tercalon di Muzik Muzik dan seterusnya ke Anugerah Juara Lagu,” katanya.

    A supernatural horror film in rural Thailand is about a family’s terrifying encounter with a demonic spirit that possesses their daughter and causes mysterious deaths, forcing the brothers to take extreme measures to stop the evil presence haunting their village.

     

    Synopsis

    The story takes place in a remote Thai village where a young girl mysteriously dies after hearing a creepy “Tee Yod” chant. Years later, a family is terrorised by the same evil spirit possessing the body of their daughter Yam. Her brother Yak seeks help from a sorcerer to perform rituals to dispel the demon. After a dangerous journey to take Yam to the hospital, Yak is forced to shoot his sister to drive out the spirit that emerges from her mouth. At the hospital, the demon possesses Yam again in the form of a black cat. Yam dies horrifically, but the evil spirit still haunts the family. Yak vows vengeance against the ancient evil force plaguing the village.

  • Malaysia Esports Championship 2023/2024 Now Calls For Registration

    Effort to build a vibrant, sustainable and inclusive esports ecosystem continues with the third season of Malaysia Esports Championship (MEC) 2023/2024 returns, and is now open for registration until 5 January 2024.

    The organization of the championship is in line with the commitment of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) to nurture and expand the local esports industry, as contained in the ‘KBS Esports Development Plan 2020 – 2025’.

    To date, MEC has played a crucial role in fostering the Malaysian esports community and continues to drive the growth of the nation’s gaming culture.

    There are five game titles to be featured in this season’s MEC – Player Unknown’s Battleground (PUBG) Mobile, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), DOTA 2, Tekken 7 and Gran Turismo 7.

    PUBG Mobile and MLBB will showcase professional esports teams who secured their spot to compete at the MEC23/24 based on their championship pedigree. In the PUBG Mobile category, champions of Malaysia Esports League 2023 and MyLadies Championship 2022 are invited to compete at the Playoff with 30 other teams from the Open Qualifier. Meanwhile in the MLBB category, champions of Malaysia Esports League 2023, MyLadies Championship 2022, Esports State League (ESTL) and 2023 Johor All Star Esports are all invited to compete at the Playoff with four other teams from the Open Qualifier.

    Any professional or amateur teams who are interested to compete at the prestigious MEC 23/24 are welcome to participate to showcase their skills and talent and be in the running for a total prize pool of RM 250,000.00.
