A STRONG LOCAL SUPPLIER ECOSYSTEM VITAL FOR SUSTAINABLE GROWTH, SAYS FAHMI

A local partnership ecosystem characterized by deep collaboration between companies and their suppliers is essential for fostering a future rich in information and communications technology (ICT) advancements.

In his keynote address at the Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Huawei Malaysia) Supplier Ecosystem Convention 2024, Minister of Communications Fahmi Fadzil praised Huawei Malaysia for its significant role and its commitment to valuing its suppliers.

Minister Fahmi emphasized, “The strength of a local partner ecosystem is crucial for sustainable growth and development. I am impressed with Huawei’s dedication to collaborating with Malaysian companies. Their commitment to engaging 100 percent local firms, including Bumiputera-owned suppliers, reflects a profound appreciation for the importance of local partnerships.”

He said the digital economy is becoming the backbone of our national growth. In 2023, it contributed over 23% to Malaysia’s GDP, with projections to rise to 25.5% by 2025.

The Minister added that public-private partnerships are crucial to Malaysia’s digital landscape.

“In particular, education and skills development are vital components of our digital economy ecosystem. I commend Huawei for their efforts in bridging the gap between education and industry, ensuring our workforce is equipped with the skills needed for future job markets,” he said.

Additionally, Fahmi said the country has achieved near universal 4G coverage as well as high rates of internet usage, mobile phone ownership, and internet traffic. With sustainable access to digital services and widespread digital involvement unlocked, he said that Malaysia is now ready to roll out the second 5G network.

“We are aligning our actions with the MADANI Government’s commitment to good governance. The dual network 5G model is designed to break the existing monopoly in 5G services, promote healthy competition within the telecommunications sector, and ensure the public has access to high-quality and affordable 5G services,” he added.

Chief Executive Officer of Huawei Malaysia Mr Simon Sun expressed deep gratitude towards the company’s suppliers, recalling how its network of local suppliers had rallied during the height of the pandemic to ensure products and services were delivered on time.

“We were able to remain steadfast, meet every demand and more importantly, nurture and grow the relationships we have with our customers and business stakeholders,” he said in his welcome speech.

He also reaffirmed Huawei Malaysia’s commitment to working with local suppliers, stating, “Huawei Malaysia believes in our slogan, ‘In Malaysia, for Malaysia’. That is why we are proud to say that we believe in using 100% local suppliers.”

“We believe this is the right way to build a resilient ecosystem. Having a valuable, consistent, and sustainable chain of suppliers and partners enables companies like us to navigate new realities and meet the demands of the day,” he added.

Mr Simon Sun also emphasised that an integral part of building the local ecosystem is the cultivation of digital talent. That is the reason, he said, that Huawei has increased its investments in digital talent development with a pledge of 20 million ringgit in investments over the last three years in the country.

Themed “Together Towards a Sustainable and Digital Malaysia”, over 500 guests were at the convention, including key industry players, stakeholders, decision-makers, partners, and industry experts, creating a dynamic environment for exchanging innovative ideas and expertise across critical ICT domains.

Fifty-eight awards were presented to Huawei Malaysia’s local partners and suppliers who demonstrated excellence and outstanding achievements. Among the companies awarded for its excellent team leaders were Jalur Milenium Sdn Bhd, MTK Communication Sdn Bhd, B-Band Communications Sdn Bhd, C&C Universal Engineering Sdn Bhd, Advance Industrial Solutions Sdn Bhd and East Field Technologies Sdn Bhd.

At the event, Huawei Malaysia presented an overview of its key ongoing projects, offered insights into market prospects, and highlighted potential areas for collaboration with its partners.

Festival Permainan Malaysia @Kuala Lumpur 2024 Meriahkan Dataran Merdeka: Sertai Pelbagai Aktiviti Budaya, Sukan Tradisional dan Citarasa Warisan

Festival Permainan Malaysia @ Kuala Lumpur 2024 (FPM@KL 2024) akan berlangsung selama tiga hari pada 14, 15, dan 16 September 2024 di Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur.

Festival tahunan ini, yang memasuki edisi kesembilan, dianjurkan oleh Jabatan Kebudayaan dan Kesenian Negara (JKKN) Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur dengan kerjasama Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) dan Persatuan Sukan Tradisional Malaysia.

FPM@KL 2024 bertujuan untuk mengetengahkan kepelbagaian budaya melalui permainan tradisional sebagai teras, serta menawarkan pelbagai aktiviti lain bagi menarik minat warga kota dan masyarakat.

Acara utama FPM@KL 2024 adalah pertandingan permainan tradisional yang akan disertai oleh 2,378 peserta mewakili badan beruniform, sektor korporat, dan institusi pengajian tinggi (IPT).

Antara permainan tradisional yang akan dipertandingkan adalah tarik tali, galah panjang, tuju tin, batu seremban, sepak raga ratus, bola sepak kain sarung, kelereng, terompah gergasi, menyumpit, dan memanah tradisional.

Pertandingan ini akan dikendalikan oleh Persatuan Sukan Tradisional Malaysia dengan penyertaan dari 10 pasukan badan beruniform, 11 pasukan sektor korporat, dan lapan IPT.

Kategori badan beruniform menampilkan penyertaan pasukan seperti Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (johan keseluruhan 2023), Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat Malaysia, Polis Diraja Malaysia, serta beberapa agensi kerajaan lain.

Sementara itu, kategori korporat melibatkan pasukan dari syarikat besar seperti Malaysia Airports Berhad, Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad, dan Tenaga Nasional Berhad. Kategori IPT pula menampilkan universiti seperti Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia, Universiti Malaya, dan Universiti Putra Malaysia.

Selain pertandingan utama, acara lain yang turut memeriahkan FPM@KL 2024 termasuklah Permainan Legenda Rakyat, yang akan menampilkan permainan seperti terompah gergasi, kaki hantu, tarik upih pinang, dan lari dalam guni. Tamu@KL pula akan mengadakan pameran dan demonstrasi permainan tradisional dari Sabah, Sarawak, dan Orang Asal, seperti permainan kercang.

Selain itu, turut diadakan kejohanan bertaraf antarabangsa seperti Kejohanan Tarik Tali Kelab-Kelab Antarabangsa dan MyGasing Championship, dengan penyertaan dari negara Brunei, Singapura, dan Taiwan.

Festival ini juga akan dimeriahkan dengan acara budaya seperti Kejohanan Seni Silat Kreatif Berkumpulan, Pertandingan Kabaddi Terbuka Malaysia, dan persembahan Diabolo Kuala Lumpur. Beberapa aktiviti baru turut diperkenalkan pada tahun ini, termasuk Pertandingan Tarian Singa Interaktif dan Pertandingan Catur Cina.

Bagi menyemarakkan sambutan Hari Malaysia, Festival Gendang dan Tari Antarabangsa (GENTA) akan berlangsung pada 14 September 2024, menampilkan persembahan dari negara jiran seperti Indonesia, Thailand, dan Filipina. Sementara itu, acara Kuala Lumpur Cinta Rasul akan diadakan pada 15 September 2024 bagi memperingati Maulidur Rasul.

FPM@KL 2024 juga memperkenalkan Senam Seni 2.0, satu modul senam seni baru yang menggabungkan gerakan kecergasan dan seni budaya, yang diiktiraf oleh Persatuan Sukan Kecergasan Malaysia (MAFA).

Selain itu, penganjuran festival ini disokong oleh lebih daripada 40 rakan kerjasama dan 23 penaja utama seperti Ajinamoto Malaysia, Redbull, dan Sunway Lagoon. Festival ini juga akan memperkenalkan konsep acara tanpa sampah, yang disokong oleh SWCorp, melalui penganjuran acara hijau atau Green Event.

Bagi memeriahkan lagi FPM@KL 2024, orang ramai dijemput untuk hadir dan menikmati pelbagai aktiviti menarik serta menikmati hidangan dari 30 trak makanan yang akan beroperasi di Jalan Raja sepanjang festival.

RASA Layan Curry Fiesta: Himpunan Peminat Kari Terbesar Malaysia Bakal Gegarkan Setia City Convention Centre Pada 5 Hingga 8 September

Bersedialah, peminat kari dari seluruh Malaysia, kerana RASA Layan Curry Fiesta bakal menjadi acara yang bukan biasa-biasa! Diadakan di Setia City Convention Centre dari 5 hingga 8 September, pesta ini dijangka menarik lebih 100 ribu pengunjung yang berkumpul untuk menikmati lebih 300 pilihan makanan berasaskan kari daripada pelbagai usahawan popular dari seluruh negara.

Bersempena sambutan Hari Malaysia, RASA Layan Curry Fiesta dianjurkan oleh portal majalah RASA bersama rakan kerjasama HAVOC. Pesta ini bukan sahaja bertumpu kepada nasi kandar paling “surr” dari serata tanahair, tetapi juga pelbagai jenis hidangan lain seperti nasi Arab, nasi Briyani, dan makanan viral yang pasti memikat selera ramai. Antaranya termasuk Hameediyah, Nasi Kandar Express, dan Mathaa’m yang bakal membawa citarasa autentik kepada para pengunjung.

Fiesta ini akan berlangsung selama empat hari, dari jam 11 pagi hingga 12 malam, dan menjanjikan kemeriahan yang berganda kerana diiringi bersama Syok Fest Kita, acara hiburan anjuran ASTRO di Oval Lawn, Setia City Convention Centre. Jobranko dan Yonnyboii mencipta momen istimewa bersama peminat bertuah menerusi acara ‘Sentuhan Nadi’.

Selepas kerjasama menerusi lagu Nadi yang mendapat sambutan hangat, pemain gitar legenda Jobranko dan penyanyi serta komposer berbakat Yonnyboii mengadakan sesi pertemuan eksklusif bersama peminat di acara Sentuhan Nadi. Acara ini berlangsung di lokasi ikonik Hard Rock Cafe Kuala Lumpur, di mana 20 peminat bertuah berpeluang meluangkan masa bersama mereka dari jam 3 petang hingga 6 petang.

Sentuhan Nadi dianjurkan sebagai tanda penghargaan kepada peminat dan penyokong yang setia mengikuti perjalanan karier muzik Jobranko dan Yonnyboii. 20 peminat bertuah ini dipilih daripada peraduan ‘cover’ lagu Nadi yang diadakan dari 6 Ogos hingga 28 Ogos lalu. Peserta peraduan perlu memuat naik cover terbaik Nadi dengan versi mereka sendiri di media sosial dan meletakkan #SentuhanNadi dan #NadiSongCover dalam hantaran video masing-masing.

Kemuncak acara ini adalah pengumuman pemenang yang bertuah membawa pulang sebuah gitar istimewa yang ditandatangani oleh Jobranko dan Yonnyboii. Gitar ini ditaja oleh Music Bliss Malaysia bersama ERA. Momen ini menjadi sangat bermakna apabila hadiah tersebut disampaikan sendiri oleh idola mereka.

Sentuhan Nadi juga menjadi detik manis buat Jobranko dan Yonnyboii untuk mendekati peminat setia mereka. Jika selama ini mereka hanya mampu melihat peminat dari atas pentas, pertemuan ini memberikan peluang keemasan untuk berkongsi rasa dan berinteraksi secara lebih intim. Lagu Nadi yang dilancarkan pada hujung Jun lalu merupakan hasil kolaborasi antara Yonnyboii dan Jobranko. Kombinasi dua generasi berbeza ini menarik perhatian ramai, mengambil kira latar belakang perbezaan usia dan genre muzik mereka. Selepas lebih dua bulan dilancarkan, muzik video (MV) rasmi Nadi di YouTube berjaya meraih lebih 211,000 tontonan, manakala di platform-platform penstriman muzik, jumlah pendengarnya terus meningkat.

Yonnyboii percaya lagu Nadi yang dicipta bersama komposer Amy Bong mampu menyentuh hati ramai kerana ia tercetus daripada perasaan peribadinya sendiri. Dapat menyalurkan pengalaman peribadi dalam single itu juga memberinya satu kelegaan.

Huawei Digital Power’s latest FusionSolar C&I Smart PV&ESS Solution was showcased for the first time in Malaysia at the Malaysia PV&ESS Safety Forum & Product Launch 2024.

The event, organized by Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Huawei Malaysia), attracted more than 250 participants and stakeholders from the energy, photovoltaic (PV), and energy storage industries (ESS).

Huawei Digital Power, a leader in the PV industry, showcased its innovative capabilities at the forum. They presented compelling evidence on the potential of PV as a universal form of energy that can drive Malaysia towards carbon neutrality, environmental stewardship, and sustainability.

During the event, participants from various sectors, including government agencies, enterprise representatives, and industry professionals, were provided with a comprehensive introduction to the FusionSolar C&I Smart PV&ESS Solution.

The FusionSolar C&I Smart PV&ESS Solution is poised to revolutionize safety standards in commercial and industrial (C&I) application scenarios such as shopping malls, supermarkets, factories, and official parks. This innovative solution offers comprehensive protection across failure through its three-dimensional safety solutions: device safety, asset safety, and personal safety.

During his welcome address, Mr Simon Sun, Chief Executive Officer of Huawei Malaysia, emphasized the commitment of Huawei Digital Power to drive innovation in renewable energy. The company aims to provide sustainable solutions to its customers and address environmental challenges.

“In 2023, Huawei delivered 145 gigawatts (GW) of solar inverters globally, cumulatively achieving 445GW and generating 1,110.6 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity, equivalent to the planting of 755 million trees. Looking ahead, it is important to focus on improving energy storage solutions while also ensuring that power generation assets remain safe, reliable, and cost-effective,” he said.

Huawei Digital Power’s approach to strategically facilitate Malaysia’s transition from a high-carbon to low-carbon nation integrates digital technology (Bit), electronic power technology (Watt), thermal management technology (Heat), and ESS management technology (Battery), collectively referred to as the “4T” technologies.

“As PV energy generation improves and the costs of solar panels decrease due to growing market supply and demand, the era of PV and Energy Storage (PV+ ESS) parity is on the horizon. FusionSolar, the integration of battery and solar, is gradually becoming the renewable/green energy of choice of the masses, helping to reduce the dependence on diesel generators, and lessening economic as well as environmental impacts. This means combining solar power with energy storage will become the most prudent and universal form of power,” said Mr Sun.

In addition to the introduction to the FusionSolar C&I Smart PV&ESS Solution, the forum explored three main topics, namely: Overview of Malaysia’s Solar and Energy Storage Landscape, Overview of Potential Safety Hazards in PV&ESS Installations, and a Deep Dive into Securing a Greener Malaysia.

Aligning with the Malaysian Government’s objectives of reducing carbon emissions by at least 50 percent by 2030 and achieving full carbon neutrality by 2050, Huawei is committed to continuous innovation and forming strategic partnerships to catalyse the adoption of advanced renewable energy solutions that will yield optimal ways to build a low-carbon and circular economy for Malaysia.
